CHAPTER 47: CHAPTER 47: GIFT

Eleanor Hollis felt this man’s mind might not be clear, and she explained word by word.

"Nathaniel Quinn, after being tormented by you for five years, do you think I’d still care about your feelings? If you have the time, you might as well coax your Grace Lynch."

"You still say it’s not to take revenge on us?"

Nathaniel Quinn squinted his eyes. For some reason, Eleanor Hollis’s attitude now made him very annoyed.

"If you want to think that way, then I can’t help it."

Eleanor Hollis felt that if she continued talking to him, she might end up too angry to speak.

This man’s mind wasn’t normal, and he took himself too seriously.

"Mommy."

Marcus saw her angry, reached out his hand with snacks, and placed them in front of her.

Eleanor Hollis softened her brows and took off the crumbs from his nose, "Marcus, you can’t eat too many snacks, otherwise you’ll become ugly."

Marcus was stunned and obediently put down the remaining snacks.

"Miss Hollis, tomorrow night is the Quinton Family elder’s birthday. Mr. Quinn asked me to remind you that you must attend this banquet and the elder specifically requested you bring the little ancestor."

Lan Yancy said suddenly from the side, respectfully tidying up all the snacks.

Eleanor Hollis froze all over; she had almost forgotten the elder’s birthday. The elder was highly respected, and every year’s birthday banquet was held grandly.

Only, even if she attended before, she would find a small corner to hide away, because those hypocritical social interactions really didn’t suit her.

Moreover, back then, many of the wealthy ladies close to Beatrice Sullivan didn’t like her, so naturally, others kept away from her.

She really hadn’t expected that for this year’s banquet, the elder would specifically ask someone to convey a message to her.

"Miss Hollis, don’t get the wrong idea. The CEO has already told the elder about you and the little ancestor. The elder is very happy and said he hopes to hear Marcus call him grandpa at the banquet. Others might have opinions about you staying at the villa, but the elder understands the CEO’s efforts over the years and will not make things difficult for you."

Lan Yancy had already received instructions from the CEO to explain things clearly to Miss Hollis so she wouldn’t have to worry.

Eleanor Hollis’s tightly knitted brows slowly relaxed. Just now, she was worried whether she would be dealt with by the Quinton Family for entering Hugo’s villa recklessly, hence the special message.

Reality proved it was not as she thought; the elder was a reasonable person.

"I will go."

She rubbed Marcus’s head and said, noticing Marcus’s eyes full of anticipation, finally wrapping an arm around his waist.

"Marcus, I’ll go to the birthday banquet with you. If someone picks on me, you must protect me."

She said to the child with a smile, and Marcus solemnly responded, "I will, mommy."

Eleanor Hollis felt a warmth in her heart and had to admit she was truly moved by this child.

"But at the banquet, you can’t call me mommy, or else I’ll be criticized by everyone. Marcus, tomorrow night you should call me sister or aunt, okay? You don’t want mommy to be scolded, do you?"

She slowly reasoned with the child, knowing Marcus wasn’t ignorant; he simply closed himself off too deeply.

"Hmm."

Marcus nodded, his pure eyes staring directly at her.

Eleanor Hollis couldn’t resist and hugged him tightly, "If only this were my child, really so well-behaved."

Lan Yancy watched this scene from the side, as the CEO’s assistant, he indeed opposed Eleanor Hollis’s entrance before, but the CEO insisted, leaving him no choice.

Now seeing the change in the little ancestor, he understood why the CEO persisted.

Miss Hollis truly was a special presence for the little ancestor.

Because of the upcoming birthday banquet, Eleanor Hollis couldn’t sleep, tossing and turning in vexation.

At the banquet, she would again face those annoying people, not knowing how Joelle Quinn and Beatrice Sullivan planned to trouble her.

Only when dawn broke did she finally drift off to sleep. Just after freshening up, she heard someone knocking on the door outside.

Upon opening, she found it was Marcus, holding a gift box in his hand.

"Mommy, for you."

Marcus looked at her softly, his eyes filled with smiles.

Eleanor Hollis opened it and found a very expensive dress inside, presumably prepared by Hugo Quinn for her.

She recognized the brand; Joelle Quinn used to love wearing it, but this was the latest model, said to have just appeared on foreign runways.

Hugo Quinn was indeed Hugo Quinn; she believed this was definitely the first one in the country.

Eleanor Hollis touched the dress, lost in thought. Funny enough, having been married to Nathaniel Quinn for five years, she had never worn a proper gown.

Nathaniel Quinn at the banquet never introduced her to others, so nobody knew the shabby little transparent figure in the corner was Nathaniel Quinn’s legitimate wife.

The dress was very valuable, at least over a hundred thousand; she shouldn’t accept it.

But having spent these days together, she understood Hugo Quinn’s nature; if she didn’t take it, he would turn around and toss it into the trash, leaving her no choice but to accept.

Time passed quickly; soon it was dusk. She applied light makeup and then donned the dress.

It’s often said that clothes make the person; indeed, she almost didn’t recognize herself in the mirror.

Wearing the dress, she picked up her old bag, turned, and went downstairs, finding Hugo Quinn and Marcus already in the living room waiting.

Both were in suits, looking quite handsome because of their similar looks.

Hugo Quinn heard footsteps, glanced over, and when his gaze met her figure, his pupils contracted fiercely.

The dress really suited her, perfectly highlighting her silhouette, along with her fair skin, making her look vibrant and translucent.

"Mr. Quinn, is this not quite appropriate..."

Eleanor Hollis felt a bit uncomfortable; this was her first time wearing a formal gown, feeling awkward everywhere.

"You look great, it suits you well."

Hugo Quinn wasn’t stingy with his compliments, although his brows furrowed slightly when he noticed the old bag.

It was his oversight; he remembered to buy her a dress but forgot matching high heels and a purse.

"Get in the car."

There should be an appropriate set there; before heading to the banquet, he planned to take her there for a visit.

Eleanor Hollis followed him, holding Marcus’s hand; after getting in the car, they all sat quietly.

Only Marcus occasionally glanced at her, quickly a blush rising on his face.

Eleanor Hollis pinched his nose, their interaction filled with warmth.

"Mr. Quinn, this doesn’t seem like the way to the old house."

After sitting for a while, Eleanor Hollis noticed the scenery outside changed entirely, making her heart tremble slightly.

She even wondered if she was about to be taken somewhere and sold.

Hugo Quinn didn’t answer her; the car eventually stopped in front of a luxurious store, with a doorman quickly coming over to open the door, uniformly wearing white gloves.
