The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad
Chapter 55: Divorce Agreement
CHAPTER 55: CHAPTER 55: DIVORCE AGREEMENT
Hugo’s temper was almost uncontrollable, and his brow was filled with anger.
No wonder Marcus and Grace have always had a bad relationship; it turns out there’s this issue between them.
He never wanted to even touch the child, yet Grace had done so many things privately that challenged his limits.
"Lan Yancy."
He called out, and Yancy, who was guarding the door, immediately walked in, bowing respectfully.
"Get Grace here."
Yancy nodded, was about to leave, but heard Hugo’s voice again, "Also, draft a divorce agreement as soon as possible."
Yancy turned around in surprise; hadn’t Old Master Quinn already said he didn’t agree to the divorce?
"Sir, Old Master Quinn might..."
"I’ll explain myself."
Only then did Yancy nod and immediately leave.
Hugo looked down at his child, sighed, and took him slowly out of the room.
"If anyone bullies you in the future, don’t just keep it in; you must tell me."
Marcus nodded, following him downstairs, and they both sat on the sofa.
It was already past ten at night; Hugo thought for a while and decided to call Quinton Manor and have everyone come here.
He emphasized that they must come.
Old Master Quinn had already gone to bed, and upon receiving his call, furrowed his brow, thinking something had happened to Marcus, quickly dressed, and had someone send him over.
Nathaniel’s family also arrived; Nathaniel’s father, Quentin, was the old master’s second son.
The old master had four sons in total; Hugo was the youngest. The eldest was Collin, and the third was Simon.
The eldest had always been in the military and rarely came back, living a very low-profile life over the years.
The Quinton Family had its own independent company, known as The Quinn Group, but it was currently under the old master’s management, whereas Hugo’s Grandeur Group was built from scratch, solely his.
The third son, Simon, worked at The Quinn Group and had been quite diligent over the years.
Everyone quickly gathered, and the old master frowned, unsure what his youngest son was planning to say.
"Hugo, have you gathered everyone to announce something important?"
Hugo seldom held family meetings so seriously, so the old master was puzzled and spoke cautiously.
"Dad, I’m going to divorce Grace. It’s going to be finalized tonight."
The old master nearly passed out from the shock; his son’s divorce turmoil came right after his birthday banquet.
But Hugo’s face showed no emotion as he instructed the butler beside him to prepare heart medicine for the old master.
Everything was fine at the banquet, so why did he seem so urgent to divorce Grace right after everyone got home, as if it couldn’t wait?
"You need to give me a reason, and it better convince me. Hugo, I know you dislike Grace, but it’s a man’s responsibility. As long as she is Marcus’s mother, you cannot divorce her!"
The old master’s stance was very strong, tapping the floor with his cane.
At this moment, Yancy also brought Grace in.
Grace stiffened when she saw everyone there, thinking perhaps the incident with Nathaniel rolling in bed had been exposed?
She glanced at Nathaniel, only to find him deep in thought, not noticing her arrival.
"What’s everyone doing here? It’s so lively tonight."
Because of her entanglement with Nathaniel, her neck was covered with kiss marks of varying depths.
So when she got the call from Yancy, she quickly put on a turtleneck, afraid those marks might be seen.
"Grace, you’re here, sit down."
Seeing her, the old master’s attitude softened a bit. He pointed to the seat beside Hugo.
Grace smiled, holding her bag, sat down, and looked gently at Hugo, "Is something going on tonight? Why does everyone seem so serious?"
Looking at the woman’s expression, Hugo felt a surge of annoyance. He remembered what Marcus had told him, itching to strangle her right then.
"Yancy, where’s the divorce agreement?"
He asked.
Standing by, Yancy promptly took out the divorce papers, bending down to place them in front of him.
Grace’s face froze; her fingers tightened around her purse as she stammered, "Hugo, why for no reason are you bringing a divorce agreement?"
She swallowed hard; having just been entwined with Nathaniel, Hugo’s action of presenting a divorce agreement made her feel guilty, thinking Nathaniel might have confessed.
"Sign it."
Hugo’s voice was cold, with no hint of negotiation, clearly determined to divorce.
"I won’t sign! Hugo, what did I do wrong?! Tell me, and I can change!"
Grace was emotional; this position had to be hers, she couldn’t let another woman have it.
"I’m not discussing this with you. Grace, sign now, and I can offer you plenty of compensation. Don’t end up with nothing by then."
Grace’s heart trembled; his voice was so cold, and his gaze seemed poisoned.
"Dad..."
She turned to Old Master Quinn for help.
Now, Old Master Quinn’s face looked particularly displeased, as he looked at his son, "Hugo, don’t act recklessly."
Hugo had long expected the old master would side with Grace, felt a bit annoyed, and noticed Grace wearing a turtleneck, his eyes darkened, sneering.
"Dad, you can ask her what she just did."
His glare was mocking, causing Grace to look away guiltily.
Nearby, Nathaniel too was dumbstruck, having used force as he mistook the woman for Eleanor.
In that tangle, he had left many marks on her body.
Before leaving, he ensured another glance, seeing Grace’s neck full of red kiss marks.
"Grace, where have you been just now?"
The old master couldn’t understand why his youngest son suddenly mentioned this, noticing Grace’s evasive glance, his intuition telling him something was off.
"I... Dad, my dress accidentally got dirty, so I just went home to change."
Grace clutched her hands tightly, pressing hard enough that veins bulged on the backs of her hands.
The old master gave a glance at his youngest son, frowning deeper.
Hugo didn’t want her to lose her last shred of dignity, rubbing the bridge of his nose, "Sign it, I don’t want you disgraced."
It wasn’t that his heart was soft; this woman was Marcus’s mother, after all.
Although she treated Marcus poorly, the favor of her giving birth to him could never be repaid.
Grace bit her lips, seeing Hugo’s name already signed on the divorce agreement, and began to tremble.
Just then, Eleanor came down from upstairs, startled by the number of people below.
Wasn’t the birthday banquet over? Why were they all gathered, especially since this was Hugo’s villa, where visitors were rare?
