The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad
Chapter 8: The Person Who Set Me Up
CHAPTER 8: CHAPTER 8: THE PERSON WHO SET ME UP
After her miscarriage, the Quinton Family’s attitude towards her grew colder with each passing day. She felt melancholic all the time because she missed her chance at university, compounded by the loss of a child. For the first two years, she was always silent and often faced difficulties from her mother-in-law.
Now that Grace Lynch brought up the past, she felt as if needles were pricking her all over, feeling extremely uncomfortable.
Nathaniel Quinn had reminded her more than once not to forget why she married into the Quinton Family. She had always known that if not for that deceased child, she would never have stepped through the Quinton Family’s door.
Her face turned pale. Because of this incident, she never wanted to see Grace Lynch.
After all, every time she saw her, it reminded her of that desperate night she had been humiliated.
Grace Lynch always dreamed of marrying into a wealthy family, but she didn’t. She only wanted to quietly finish her university education and even cherished dreams about it, but everything in her life was destroyed because of that night.
"You’re not the one who schemed against me, so why would I blame you."
Eleanor Hollis’s tone was flat, clearly not wanting to say more about this matter.
A trace of malice flashed in Grace Lynch’s eyes, but she spoke kindly, "I’ll transfer the money to you later, but Eleanor, I want you to promise me one condition."
Eleanor Hollis’s pupils contracted, with a bit of sarcasm in her heart. It really came, huh.
Grace Lynch had been raised by her grandmother for over a decade. It was only right to use money to save her grandmother, yet she still wanted to set conditions.
"Since you know Nathaniel has always had me in his heart, after this divorce, just leave Serenford. I’ll have someone take care of your grandmother’s surgery and give you a large sum of money. Eleanor, Serenford is just a sad place for you."
Eleanor knew Grace couldn’t be blamed for what happened back then. After all, she had gone of her own volition to save someone else. Although Grace’s attitude towards her was very good afterward, looking at that face gave her no good feelings. After all, it was the white moonlight that her husband had pined for over five years.
"After my grandmother’s surgery, I’ll leave." She eventually conceded.
"Alright."
Grace Lynch hung up the phone with satisfaction, a slight smile on her lips, then turned to see a man standing behind her, not knowing how long he had been standing there.
"Grace."
Nathaniel Quinn’s face was full of deep affection, wanting to get closer, yet bound by his identity and stuck in a dilemma, with his entire being tense.
"Nathaniel." Grace’s face was gentle, her tone apologetic.
This scene of such a beautiful woman about to cry made Nathaniel even more unable to restrain himself, but since they were at Quinton Manor, he could only suppress himself like a pitiful creature.
"Nathaniel, are you and Eleanor having issues because of me... I’m sorry, I didn’t know you’d be so committed to this relationship, but you see, I’m married now and very happy with my life."
Nathaniel felt a pain in his heart so severe he couldn’t breathe. After that initial encounter with Eleanor Hollis, he hadn’t touched her since, merely wanting to stay devoted to the woman in front of him. Now it seemed so laughable.
"Grace, all I want is to love you. You don’t need to respond in any way."
He slowly walked closer and stood beside her, finding that her face was as beautiful as ever, like a budding flower, vibrant and striking.
Grace was full of emotion, a trace of smugness flashed through her eyes but disappeared quickly before anyone could notice.
"Hugo just called me to come over; it might be about Marcus. Nathaniel, I’ll be leaving now."
Saying this, Grace was about to leave, but Nathaniel still managed to grasp her wrist, full of reluctance.
