The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad
Chapter 85: Captured
CHAPTER 85: CHAPTER 85: CAPTURED
"Okay, Dad."
Marcus hung up the phone obediently, his bright eyes fixed on Eleanor Hollis.
"Dad said he would come back."
With the speaker on, Eleanor Hollis naturally heard it too, imagining Hugo Quinn must be mocking her by now.
But she couldn’t say anything to Marcus, as the child was unaware of everything.
"I’ll cook first. Marcus, play with the puzzle yourself, okay?"
Marcus nodded and continued focusing on the puzzle in front of him.
Eleanor Hollis sighed, stood up, and went to the kitchen.
However, as soon as she opened the refrigerator, she realized it was almost empty; probably these past few days she had been at home sending resumes, and the vegetables were all eaten.
Even the best cook cannot work without ingredients; faced with an empty fridge, she couldn’t even put together a simple dish, so she went to the entrance to change her shoes.
"Marcus, I’m going out to buy groceries, wait for me at home."
"Okay, Mommy."
Marcus had been obedient all along, which made Eleanor Hollis very assured.
The apartment was upscale, slightly distant from a major supermarket, requiring a fifteen-minute taxi ride to buy groceries.
But the environment here was very nice with good security, so she didn’t object when Hugo Quinn brought her over.
Eleanor Hollis got in a taxi, her mind filled with thoughts of what dishes to make tonight, planning to buy groceries and return home shortly.
Upon reaching the supermarket entrance, she headed straight to the vegetable section, bought a pound of ribs and a pack of pork belly, some eggs, and tomatoes; remembering Marcus liked bok choy, she added a few to the cart.
Because Hugo Quinn was about to return, she didn’t want to waste any more time. After buying everything, she directly went to check out, carrying her purchases to head home.
A taxi stopped next to her, and Eleanor Hollis, without thinking much, got in and told the driver the address.
The driver, wearing a hat, didn’t speak with her at all.
Eleanor Hollis watched the scenery outside, feeling increasingly strange, because this didn’t seem like the route back to her apartment.
She noticed the driver wearing a hat again, her heart shuddered, secretly took out her phone to call Hugo Quinn.
Hugo Quinn had just left Grandeur, seeing Eleanor Hollis’s number on the phone, his lips curved slightly; was she so desperate?
"What’s up?"
He said cheerfully, but heard silence on the other end; the person seemed to be in a car, could it be a misdial?
"Driver, where are you taking me? This doesn’t look like the way to the apartment."
Eleanor Hollis spoke, hoping Hugo Quinn could hear this and come to rescue her.
At that moment, she found there was no one else she could trust except him.
The driver didn’t respond, instead, it accelerated, speeding towards an unknown destination.
"Who are you?! Stop the car! I want to get out!!"
Eleanor Hollis started screaming, snatching off the driver’s hat, seeing a scarred face in the rear-view mirror.
Knowing Eleanor Hollis was in trouble, Hugo Quinn immediately returned to Grandeur, called Lan Yancy over, and had her phone location traced.
"Sir, they’re heading towards the suburbs; the car is ready, let’s pursue them now."
Lan Yancy spoke respectfully, having arranged everything upon knowing Eleanor Hollis was in trouble.
"Mm."
Hugo Quinn quickly got into the car, with over a dozen bodyguards following in cars behind.
The small dot on the screen kept moving, Hugo Quinn stared intently, his eyes seething with rage.
At this moment, Eleanor Hollis was anxious too; she got up trying to grab the steering wheel, but with a sudden brake, she was thrown forward, hitting her head on the glass with a "bang".
Dazed, she was planning to get up, when the scarred face covered her nose with a towel.
A pungent smell hit her, her head spinning, eventually fainted.
The scar-faced man sneered darkly; were it not for the client’s repeated orders to avoid harming her, he would have had his way—this woman was quite attractive.
He restarted the car, heading towards an abandoned factory.
Just as he parked, four or five men walked out.
"Scarface, you brought the person?"
"Yeah."
The scarred man dragged Eleanor Hollis out of the car, into the first floor, tying her to a pillar with a rope.
"If we succeed this time, it’ll be five million—the money comes easy, seems like another wealthy family’s lady."
One man lit a cigarette arrogantly, puffing it while his gaze wandered over Eleanor Hollis’s body.
"She’s pretty, but too bad; we were told not to touch her or there’ll be no money."
Scarface initially had some amorous thoughts but sighed as he heard this, accepting a cigarette from the man’s hand.
"Did they contact you from there? How’d it go?"
"They’ve come over, let’s wake her up first."
The man said, giving Scarface a nod.
Scarface immediately brought a bucket of water from the side, poured it on Eleanor Hollis.
The cold shock woke Eleanor Hollis instantly.
She saw the scar-faced man standing beside her, along with other unfamiliar men, all gazing at her playfully, like she was a trapped prey.
She bit her lip, choosing not to speak, knowing saying more would only deepen their interest.
"Looks like she’s a tough one, I like it."
A man crouched down, slowly lifting Eleanor Hollis’s chin, noticing her pale face, his lips curled.
"Even if we do something to her, they wouldn’t know from there."
He said, suddenly reaching for Eleanor Hollis’s neck.
"Let go of me!!"
Eleanor Hollis turned her head, feeling the man’s hand linger at her neck, seemingly moving downward.
Scarface frowned, stopped the man’s action, "Don’t let us miss out on the money because of you; once we get it, what kind of woman wouldn’t we have? Just hold on."
The man seemed persuaded, withdrew his hand reluctantly, taking a deep drag of his cigarette.
"Scarface, you weren’t like this before; I really fancy this girl, just like Old Three said—even if something happens to her, nobody would know; by then, we’ll have the money and would’ve fled far away, why stick to promises."
Another man spoke crudely, his eyes on Eleanor Hollis shining brightly.
Scarface showed a moment of hesitation on his face, but ultimately disagreed.
Yet the man had already approached Eleanor Hollis, gripping her collar.
