The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad
Chapter 88: Grace Lynch Lied to Him
CHAPTER 88: CHAPTER 88: GRACE LYNCH LIED TO HIM
Wasn’t Grace Lynch supposed to hire ordinary thugs? Why do they have guns?
Z Country prohibits firearms, typical thugs wouldn’t have them.
Grace deceived him, she didn’t hire ordinary thugs, this group is made up of desperados.
Nathaniel Quinn regretted his earlier behavior, but now his chest hurt, and he couldn’t muster the strength to speak, hanging like a dead dog held by Scarface.
In the car outside, Eleanor Hollis was curled up in a ball.
She heard gunfire outside and felt scared, burying her head in her knees, hoping this battle would end soon.
Soon, someone opened the car door.
She recoiled, unsure whether the men had come from Grace Lynch’s car.
Suddenly, a warm chest embraced her, a familiar embrace.
"Don’t be afraid."
Hugo Quinn whispered in her ear, his eyes showing a trace of distress.
Eleanor Hollis stiffened, surprised that Hugo had come.
She looked up, indeed seeing Hugo’s determined jaw.
"You..."
She wanted to ask why he was here but remembered calling him and slowly shut her mouth.
It was strange, seeing him miraculously calmed her heart, as if he could handle everything.
"I’ll get you in the car."
Hugo didn’t say more, bending down to hold her, moving her to his car.
Eleanor Hollis’s eyes reddened, she had been terrified just moments ago, fearing a repeat of the nightmare from years ago.
The night with Nathaniel changed her life forever...
She gently leaned her head on Hugo’s shoulder, feeling a bit fragile.
Hugo stroked her head, the corner of his mouth curved, "With me here, don’t be scared."
His voice always had a calming power, Eleanor nodded, quickly becoming composed.
"Boss, Nathaniel is in their hands."
Lan Yancy came over, his face showing a trace of conflict.
He had no fondness for Nathaniel, his loyalty was solely to Hugo, but Nathaniel was a Quinton Family member, so he had to be careful.
"He’s here?"
Hugo was clearly surprised too, glancing at Eleanor.
Eleanor pouted, "I don’t know why he’s here, bringing Grace along."
"He brought Grace too?"
Hugo’s voice was filled with more confusion; bringing a woman here made Nathaniel either bold or foolish.
Or perhaps, that man was certain he wouldn’t get hurt, daring to keep Grace by his side.
His eyes flashed with somberness, "Let them go, bring Nathaniel over."
Lan Yancy nodded, immediately running out to negotiate and then brought back Nathaniel.
Nathaniel now looked quite disheveled, in a semi-conscious state.
He hazily saw Eleanor held in his uncle’s arms, feeling uncomfortable but unable to voice anything, simply fainting.
Scarface disliked Nathaniel, so during negotiations, he slapped Nathaniel’s face a few more times.
Nathaniel’s face was swollen, marked with prominent finger marks.
When Scarface and his gang left, Hugo slowly smirked, eyes fierce, "Make sure they’re caught."
He had come well-prepared, with even areas nearby filled with ambushes to prevent this group from escaping.
Eleanor was hurt, how could they get away?
"Understood, boss."
Lan Yancy immediately notified the other side to capture them, then got into a nearby parked car.
Grace was also helped out; her clothes were disheveled. If Hugo had arrived a moment later, she might have truly been defiled.
Grace was shaking all over, terrified of those men’s sneers, her legs weak.
But upon seeing Hugo, she practically came back to life, rushing to Hugo’s side, "Hugo, did you come to rescue me? Thank goodness you came, otherwise I would have..."
She started crying, her eyes glanced at Eleanor held by Hugo, a venomous flash in her eyes.
If not for Eleanor, she wouldn’t have suffered this; that wretched woman was lucky, being held by Hugo.
Hugo furrowed his brows, "Get in the car."
He held Eleanor, getting in first.
Grace followed him closely, getting into the car where Nathaniel lay unconscious.
Compared to Nathaniel’s disarray, Hugo seemed like a god, aloof and decisive.
Grace truly regretted not building a good relationship with Hugo earlier, securing his heart.
Though Hugo was cold, as long as she didn’t overstep, he wouldn’t divorce her.
Even if they spent their lives respectfully distant, having such a husband made many envy her secretly.
Why did she get tangled with Nathaniel, seeing his actions tonight made her even more disappointed?
Nathaniel had been at the top for too long, assuming everyone should cater to him, unaware that his everything was granted by the Quinton Family.
"Hugo, you and Eleanor... what you’re doing isn’t right."
She slowly spoke, her hands clenched into fists beside her.
She was this man’s ex-wife yet never enjoyed such treatment, why Eleanor?
By beauty, Eleanor couldn’t compare to her at all.
Hugo didn’t speak; he would thoroughly investigate why Nathaniel and Grace were here.
When Eleanor called, he wasted no time, immediately letting Lan Yancy track Eleanor’s location and came over.
He was the first to know Eleanor was in trouble; Nathaniel, even knowing Eleanor was kidnapped, should logically arrive after him.
Unless he knew beforehand Eleanor would be kidnapped.
Thinking of this, Hugo exuded hostility, casting a meaningful glance at Grace.
Grace felt chilled by his gaze, swallowing hard.
Did he suspect something? That’s impossible; they were covert, and those men had fled, even if Hugo had suspicions, he couldn’t find any evidence.
Thinking of this, she felt more assured, looking pitifully at Hugo.
"Is Marcus alright lately? Hugo, I really miss him; Marcus is my child, can you bear not letting me see him ever?"
Marcus was Hugo’s weak spot; bringing him up would surely make Hugo relent.
She thought so but saw Hugo had no intention of speaking, her tears fell instantly.
"After all, he’s flesh from my body, Hugo, I don’t want to be separated from Marcus..."
She cried pitifully, and after the night’s ordeal, she truly drew sympathy.
