CHAPTER 89: CHAPTER 89: YOU SAID IT YOURSELF, SHE’S YOUR EX-WIFE

If a man with even a little less self-control were in his place, he would probably have held her in his arms to comfort her properly.

But Hugo didn’t comfort her and instead reached out to stroke Eleanor’s hair, "Sleep."

Eleanor obediently lowered her eyes, feeling that she might really have turned bad. Seeing Grace’s predicament now, she felt deeply relieved.

"Mm."

She buried her head deeper into Hugo’s chest and slowly closed her eyes.

Grace was so angry at this scene that her chest was about to explode. Eleanor was truly shameless, starting to seduce Hugo right in front of her.

The car soon stopped in front of Hugo’s villa, and the doctor was already waiting there.

Hugo carried Eleanor out of the car, with Grace following behind him.

"Hugo, wait for me."

She wanted to follow them inside, but Hugo turned around, his cold gaze sweeping over her.

"Lan Yancy, take them back."

This "them" naturally included Nathaniel.

Grace stiffened all over; she really didn’t expect Hugo to be so indifferent towards her.

"Hugo! I’m your ex-wife! What is Eleanor to you? You just carry her away like this, without caring about my life and death? How can you be this way? I’m Marcus’s mother, Hugo, how can you be so cruel?!"

She screamed these words, her eyes bloodshot, her body went soft, almost collapsing to the ground.

Hugo paused for a moment, holding Eleanor even tighter, "As you said, you’re the ex-wife, we have nothing to do with each other now."

Snuggled in Hugo’s arms, Eleanor smiled upon hearing his heartless words.

The worse Grace’s end, the happier she felt. She was no saint; earlier that night, Grace had continuously incited those men to do something to her.

If it weren’t for those men caring about appearances, she would’ve already been violated.

Upon hearing his words, Grace truly felt a bit of despair. At this moment, Lan Yancy approached her side, "Miss Lynch, please."

Lan Yancy’s voice carried no warmth, seeming as if he was just doing his job.

Grace angrily turned, glaring at him before getting back into the car.

By then, Nathaniel had already regained consciousness, his gaze at Grace was cold, full of anger.

Grace didn’t speak; she knew he must have realized that those people were not ordinary thugs.

Neither of them spoke; with Lan Yancy right ahead, even if Nathaniel wanted to explode, he had to bear it.

The uncle must absolutely not find out everything tonight was his scheme.

Quickly, the car stopped at Nathaniel’s place, and Lan Yancy unceremoniously opened the car door.

Grace’s body stiffened a bit but obediently went to support Nathaniel.

"Nathaniel, are you okay? I’ll call a doctor for you, just hang on."

Since Lan Yancy was still present, Nathaniel gave her a cold look, gritting his teeth without making a sound.

Lan Yancy looked at them and sighed; he really hoped these two would stay together and not cause trouble for the president and Miss Hollis anymore.

Having brought the people there, the rest wasn’t his concern, so he sat back in the driver’s seat and elegantly left.

As soon as he left, Nathaniel, using all his strength, slapped Grace.

"Bitch!! You made me lose so much face tonight! I asked you to contact some ordinary thugs, but you went and found death-defying ones, what, were you trying to drag me down with you?"

Grace felt aggrieved too, initially just needed to pay and take people away, yet he insisted on having the scar-faced one apologize.

Those people lived on the edge, licking blood off knives, how would they apologize to a woman.

Although dissatisfied, knowing Nathaniel’s nature, she didn’t retaliate, only pitifully spoke.

"Nathaniel, since it’s a hero saving the beauty, shouldn’t it be a bit more realistic? Saving Eleanor when she’s at her most desperate would have her grateful to you for a lifetime."

Nathaniel’s chest had been kicked, even breathing hurt now, so he had no mood to continue entangling with Grace and immediately had the doctor check his body.

This examination startled the doctor, "Mr. Quinn, you’ve fractured two ribs; for the next month, you must stay in bed, best not to move around, and properly recuperate."

Nathaniel was sweating all over, naturally from the pain, though it was supposed to be a hero saving beauty scene, he ended up getting beaten badly instead.

Thinking of this, he gave Grace another hateful look.

"Don’t think I don’t know what you’re plotting, you probably can’t wait for something to happen to Eleanor. Grace, I said before, if you help me win back Eleanor, you’ll be rewarded, but you insist on these underhanded methods in the background, I’m very displeased."

With a cold smile on his lips, he reached out to cover where his chest hurt.

The last trace of color faded from Grace’s face, she quickly grasped Nathaniel’s hand, "Nathaniel, it’s really not what you think, I did all this for you, I just want Eleanor to be more grateful to you, Nathaniel, you must trust me."

Her excuse was flimsy; Nathaniel wasn’t a fool, how could he believe it.

"Get lost!!"

He withdrew his hand; previously, he could keep her around to vent, but now just seeing her face disgusted him, he lost all interest.

"Nathaniel..."

Grace looked at him pitifully, her shoulders slowly drooping, "Even you don’t want me anymore? Nathaniel, I’m really not what you think..."

Nathaniel impatiently watched her act, pointing towards the door, "Get out, I don’t want to see you again. Grace, I’ve already given you a chance; it’s you who squandered it."

The doctor had been diligently applying medicine and bandages to Nathaniel, seemingly oblivious to the events between the two.

He was Nathaniel’s private doctor, knowing many secrets, but all those secrets couldn’t be revealed; otherwise, he’d be the one suffering.

Struggling to stand, Grace’s face was beyond pale, feeling dizzy from crouching too long.

"Thud!"

She fainted directly onto the floor, the sound of her head hitting the floor was loud, it didn’t seem like she was faking it.

Yet Nathaniel had long been fed up with her drama, impatiently addressing the nearby bodyguards.

"Throw her out, and don’t let her step foot in here again."

Several bodyguards quickly lifted Grace out, ruthlessly throwing her outside the door.

This time, Grace truly fainted; back at the abandoned factory, she had already been terrified, and now suddenly relaxing, her body couldn’t take it.

Unfortunately, Nathaniel didn’t believe her at all, instructing them to close the door and forbidding anyone from going out to check on her.

He was extremely agitated now, originally intending to charm Eleanor, ending up aiding his little uncle instead, and now Eleanor would surely trust his uncle even more.
