The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad
Chapter 92: Pushing Her into the Fire Pit
CHAPTER 92: CHAPTER 92: PUSHING HER INTO THE FIRE PIT
Old Master Quinn shook his head and sighed, "How could you do such a thing, Nathaniel? I thought you were just immature and needed some refining, but to think you were so depraved as to have Eleanor kidnapped. If something really happened to her, how would I explain this to her uncle!"
The old man’s chest heaved violently with anger, and the butler hurriedly fed him a pill, gently patting his back.
"Grandpa, I was possessed by demons, I know I was wrong."
Nathaniel Quinn tightly clenched his fists. He didn’t like his uncle, in fact, he hated him.
The other party dug up this evidence, purely for Eleanor Hollis’s sake.
It seemed this uncle really cared about Eleanor, but he just didn’t want to let the uncle have his way.
Eleanor belonged to him!
Hugo Quinn stood quietly aside, squinting his eyes, as if none of this affected him.
"Grandpa, I didn’t know how to cherish Eleanor before. I made her suffer a lot. It was only after she left me that I realized how much I cared about her. I want her to come back. I will give her everything I’ve got. All my property can be given to her."
Nathaniel Quinn bowed his head in promise, shedding all his hostility, seemingly genuinely speaking.
Old Master Quinn’s eyebrows furrowed. His grandson had done such a thing, he certainly had to give an explanation.
Now that the other party had spoken, his eyes narrowed slightly. If Eleanor could come back and reconcile with Nathaniel, it would be a win-win. He also wouldn’t have to worry about Hugo entangling with Eleanor.
Old Master Quinn realized for the first time that he was actually a selfish person. To him, the Quinton Family was the most important, and ultimately, Eleanor was just an outsider.
"Are you serious? You’re willing to transfer everything you own to Eleanor?"
Hugo Quinn slowly opened his eyes upon hearing the old man’s question. The old man surely knew what kind of life Eleanor had in the Quinton Family before, his few words could drive a woman to despair.
"Grandpa, I’m serious, as long as Eleanor agrees to come back, I will immediately transfer the property to her name."
Nathaniel Quinn put forth 100% sincerity this time, and upon seeing the old man’s face relax a little, he quickly spoke again.
"Grandpa, I will be good to her, and Eleanor used to truly like me. If I spend more time with her, she will surely forgive me."
He knew himself how much Eleanor hated him now, but he was unwilling to, didn’t want to push Eleanor to his uncle.
Seeing that Old Master Quinn was about to agree, Hugo’s voice rumbled, "Dad!"
The old man calmed down and looked at him steadily.
"Have you sat in your high position for so long that you’ve forgotten that Eleanor Hollis is also a person? She’s not the Quinton Family’s property. You make decisions for her with just a few words, but have you considered her feelings?"
His words were straightforward, and the old man’s face immediately changed, trembling at the lips.
"Hugo, I’m doing this for Eleanor’s good. Nathaniel has had a change of heart now. They were together for five years before, and they say a married couple’s quarrel never lasts through the night. As long as Nathaniel shows enough sincerity, Eleanor will definitely forgive him."
Hugo Quinn’s face showed some sarcasm. It seemed coming to the Quinton Family today was a mistake.
He originally thought the old man would seek justice for Eleanor Hollis, would properly punish Nathaniel Quinn. Unexpectedly, this person decided to have them reconcile.
He was truly disappointed in the Quinton Family.
"Eleanor Hollis has human rights. She despises Nathaniel, despises him to the extreme. This time because of Nathaniel, she was almost humiliated. After five years of marriage torment, she had long been disappointed in him. Not to mention, a while ago, Nathaniel planned to exchange Eleanor for Grace Lynch’s safety. With all these factors, do you think Eleanor would be willing to reconcile with him?"
Hugo stood up, holding Marcus’s hand, "Dad, I thought you were principled, but it turns out you only care about the Quinton Family’s face. You can’t see a woman’s suffering. The Quinton Family now is as rotten to the core as its foundation."
"Hugo!!"
This was the first time in years that Hugo had confronted the old man.
Everyone in the living room didn’t dare to speak, wishing they could shrink away into none existence.
Nathaniel Quinn’s mouth curled up maliciously. If Grandpa completely loathed this uncle and gave him no support, it wouldn’t be long before the uncle’s business went bankrupt.
"Marcus, let’s go."
Hugo said in a low voice, pulling Marcus to leave.
Marcus looked back at Old Master Quinn, eyes carrying a hint of disdain, "Bad person."
No words cut as deeply as these two words from a child.
Old Master Quinn turned pale, collapsing directly.
"Old Master!"
"Grandpa!!"
The scene instantly turned chaotic, everyone rushed to support the old man.
Hugo and Marcus, however, didn’t linger at all, directly leaving the living room and getting into the car parked outside.
"Drive."
Hugo said tiredly. After all, it was family, and such a thing was distressing for him too.
But thinking about how his high-and-mighty father dismissed a woman, his heart filled with anger. Sitting in power for a long time, he turned a blind eye to ordinary people’s lives, not expecting the old man to be like that too.
"Daddy."
Marcus quietly pinched his hand, eyes glistening with a trace of tears, "Mommy can’t go."
He didn’t want to leave Mommy. Everyone in the living room just now wasn’t good, all trying to push Mommy into a pit of fire.
"Don’t worry, with me here, she won’t be in trouble."
Hugo patted his head, gently comforting him.
Only then did Marcus press his lips together, extending his little pinky finger in front of him, "Pinky swear."
Hugo found it amusing, pinching his cheek, "Who taught you that?"
"Mommy."
Without hesitation, Marcus hooked his tiny pinky around his, chanting, "Pinky swear, hang on high, a hundred years, no changing."
Hugo was instantly amused by him, eyes filled with softness, hooking the child’s little pinky.
The car soon stopped in front of the villa. He bent down and carried Marcus out, "Later, don’t tell Mommy about what just happened, or she’ll be sad, okay?"
Eleanor Hollis seems to respect the old man a lot. If she knew he was planning to push her into a fire pit behind her back, she’d be distraught.
"I understand."
Marcus hugged his neck, his eyes shiny, "Marcus isn’t stupid."
He was getting more fluent with his words, not pausing at all, making Hugo both surprised and pleased.
Eleanor Hollis was sitting in the living room watching TV, her face’s swelling had subsided considerably, and now there were only a few finger marks.
"You’re back."
She stood up, immediately sitting up straight.
Hugo nodded, bringing Marcus over to the sofa, feeling a bit better at seeing her swelling almost gone from her face.
"Did you apply the morning’s medicine?"
