Chapter 500 The Bait Is Set
The caller was speaking the localnguage. From the sound of the voice, it was a middle–aged bman/bb, /band the moment he spoke, Johnathan knew exactly who it was.
“The patriarch of the Wynn family.”
“Mr. Victor”
Johnathan slowly said the name.
Victor didn’t immediately bring up White. Instead, he started reminiscing.
“You know, your father and I go way back. We were quite close, actually.”
Johnathan let out a coldugh.
Hearing that, Victor realized Johnathan likely knew the history between him and Chase.
He chuckled. “Ah, youthful foolishness. There were misunderstandings back then. It all seems ratherughable now.”
He made it sound so casual, as if it had all been some minor disagreement.
Johnathan’s gaze turned icy, his voiceced with sarcasm.
“So I take it this situation is another one of those minor misunderstandings?”
Victor didn’t answer the question. Instead, he said, “There’s a saying you have–‘leave some room when dealing with others so you can meet again down the road.‘ Graham did make mistakesb, /bbut in the end, this is a matter between our two families. There’s no need to make a scene. The Wynn family has great influence, but your expertise is in maritime and oil ventures. The Victor family is more focused in other areas. If you’re willing, we can work together. It’s a lucrative business. With both families joining forces, we could reach new heights.”
Johnathan actuallyughed at that.
No wonder White turned out the way he did. With someone like Victor at the helm, it was no surprise. A situation this serious, and Victor still treated it like a small matter.
His so–called proposal of cooperation was nothing more than dangling the idea of shady business ventures. in front of the Wynn family. But the Wynn family didn’t touch that kind of businessb. /b
It was clear Victor didn’t take him seriously. Otherwise, he never would have made such an offer.
Johnathan didn’t bother with politeness.
“If that’s your idea of sincerityi, /ithen there’s nothing left to talk about.”
With that, he hung up..
Victor hadn’t expected Johnathan to be so blunt, much less that he’d dare to hang up on him.
Sitting in bhis /bbcastle/b, bVictor /bchuckled slowly.
“bHe’s /bgot more guts than his father ever did.”
bBack /bin the day. Chase Wynn had never dared to speak to him like that.
Victor hadn’t paid much attention to Johnathan before, but now he was genuinely intrigued. He knew Johnathan was Wendy’s son, and just the thought of Wendy brought to mind the one woman he’d never forgotten.
He had to admit, women from that region were truly different. They looked delicate, but they bwere /bstronger than anyone.
Wendy had been like that. So had the woman he couldn’t forget.
He ordered a full background check on Johnathan, and within two days, he had aplete dossierid bout /bin front of him.
The more he read, the more amused he became.
He had many sons, but few he genuinely respected. White had been one of the few, but even White didn’t quite measure up to Johnathan.
Johnathan was the son of an old acquaintance–and now Victor wanted to meet him personally.
His curiosity was piqued.
“Get the ne ready.”
He was nning a trip to their country.
He hadn’t been there in years, and honestly, he missed it. He’d once sworn never to return, but now that his son was trapped there, wasn’t it only right for a father to go see him?
What Victor didn’t realize was that from the moment he made the decision to go, he had already walked right into Johnathan’s trap.
“He’s reallying here?” Sierra asked in surprise.
“Yes. He’s arrogant,” Johnathan said.
Ever since he’d met White, he’d been subtly gathering information on Victor. Then, from something Chase said, he’d confirmed what kind of man Victor truly was.
Dealing with White had only been the first step. His real target was Victor. He was going to make Victor pay–for Wendy.
Wendy had given him warmth and protection during his childhood. She hadn’t been his mother by blood, but she’d loved him like a son.
Sierra hesitated, “Should we tell your father and the othersb?/b”
She’d seen the fear in Susie’s eyes, the way Chase avoided the topic. Victor’s arrival would definitely shake
themb. /b
Johnathan thought for a moment. “I’ll have the bader inform them.
Sierra understood he still had ino /iintention of facing Chase and the rett Some things could be to with a simple apology
