    After hanging up the call, Maddox found himself wide awake. He stepped out onto the balcony and lit ba /bcigarette.

    He had no idea why Victor had suddenly taken such a deep interest in Susic, but one thing was clear- there was something going on he wasn’t being told.

    He took out his phone, pulled up Jonathan’s number, and hovered for a long moment. But in the end, he didn’t make the call.

    Right now, even if he did reach out, Jonathan wouldn’t believe him. Worse, he might think it was a trap Victor had set, and that Maddox was helping himy it.

    But Maddox’s silence didn’t mean Jonathan was unaware.

    Jonathan didn’t try to change her mind. Seeing they’d made their decision, he simply reminded them, “Keep a close eye on Jose.”

    Chase and Susie didn’t leave right away, staying in case something went wrong.

    Jonathan immediately understood–Sierra hadn’t been eating properly again. He was about to say something when the doctor continued, “Also… it appears Madam is pregnant.”

    Sierra stirred awake to find Jonathan watching her intently.

    She tried to sit up, but he reached out first and gently helped her up.

    She avoided his gaze, knowing full well why she had fainted today.

    She’d been researching something these past few days, and her meals had been irregr. Though meals were brought to her, she hadn’t actually eaten them. Afraid Jonathan would find out, she’d secretly dumped them in the trash.

    “I was wrong. I shouldn’t have skipped meals.”

    Jonathan felt a surge of frustration and helplessness.

    He’d thought she’d be safe doing her experiments at home. Meals were supervised. Her routine was supposed to be steady.

    If it weren’t for her current physical condition, he would’ve given her a proper scolding.

    Sierra shook her head. Other than having no appetite, she felt fine,

    “Easy!” Jonathan caught her, guiding her gently to lean against him.

    “Yes. You fainted just now, so the doctor ran tests. The blood work raised some bgs/b, so they did an ultrasound. You’re definitely pregnant.”
