bSierra /bepted Matco’s kindness with a nod.
She was worried that someone might try to tamper with Jonathan’s own businessesb, /bbso /bbshe /bbreminded /bMateo and the others to stay alert.
“And you all need to be careful too.”
They were too closely tied to Jonathan. She feared they might be dragged into this as well.
From a certain angle, their families were aligned with the Wynn family, part of the same camp.
Even Stone and the others hadn’t thought of it that way. They had assumed this was just a duel between Jonathan and Victor, never realizing there were deeperyers. Now, their expressions turned grave.
“Sierra, we’ll head out first,” Mateo said. He still needed to exin the situation to his own family.
Sierra nodded again, repeating her warning for them to stay safe.
By the time she finished dealing with everyone, she was exhausted. At Susie’s urging, she went to brest/b.
But she only slept for two hours before waking. When she got up, Susie was in the kitchen preparing a bfew /blight dishes. Chase and Jose had already gone to the group headquarters – with Jonathan gone, they needed to keep the staff steady.
“Here, eat something,” Susie said.
Sierra had only managed some soup in the morning. She still didn’t feel hungry, but she forced herself to eat a little.
After half a bowl, she set her chopsticks down.
Susie knew she was making herself eat and didn’t push her. “If Jonathan had already made preparations, he’s not going to be in real danger.”
Sierra had only learned from Jonathan’s closest aides yesterday that he’d set up plenty of contingency ns. Even so, she couldn’t shake her unease.
Still, thewyer’stest update was reassuring: Jonathan was doing well. No one had made things difficult for him even his amodations were different from the others. The only restriction was no outside contact for now.
—
In truth, Jonathan’s situation was even better than that.
They wanted his cooperation, and he was giving it, all with a calm and courteous manner. With his identity and status, no one daredy a hand on him.
Seeing which two departments had moved against him, he could already guess who was behind it.
The answer surprised him. At first, he’d thought it was the Goodman family. But it turned out to be someone else entirely…

He had always intended to, but the Wynn family’s economicwork was toorge; any move could set boff /ba chain reaction. Every decision required careful, repeated nning.
This time, he had acted a bit too hastily. He should have been even more thorough.
When thewyer told him how Sierra had put those people in their ce today, a faint smile curved his lips.
His Sierra never let him down.
They thought that without him, Sierra would be nothing. They never realized she had never been anyone’s appendage.
He was about to rest when someone else entered.
Jonathan raised a brow at the sight of him. “Sit.”
Even now, with things as they were, his demeanor was unchanged.
Shane gave a small, mocking twist of his mouth. “No need to keep up the act with me. It’s justughable at this point.”
Jonathan didn’t respond, keeping the sameposed expression.
After sitting a while, Shane said, “Jonathan, this time’s not going to be simple.”
Jonathan lifted his gazezily. “You here to help?”
“Ha!” Shane’s smile turned cutting. “Help you? I’d rather watch you
die.”
“Then you should’ve acted earlier,” Jonathan said evenly.
“I don’t like anyone telling me how to do things.b” /b
It was the same this time. Someone of considerable rank had already approached him, but Shane found it ridiculous. He would only move against Jonathan by his own hand, never as someone else’s pawn.
“Try to stay alive,” Shane said coldly. “Otherwiseb, /byour people will be mine.”
He might havee just to gloat, but Jonathan caught something different in his tone.
Jonathan looked at him and said slowly, “Go ahead and try.”
