    Shane replied coolly, “To mock him, obviously. What else?”

    Jade didn’t question that. He knew just how petty Shane could be. Still, he warned, “Don’t go again. You don’t want them pinning the me on you.”

    Shane nced at him. “You nning to make a move too?”

    Jade didn’t answer. At their level, every decision had to be made with extreme caution.

    Seeing his hesitation, Shane sneered. “No wonder you’ve never aplished anything. You’re too scared to take a damn step.”

    Jade was used to being ttered outside–no one had ever spoken to him like that. And the worst part was, it came from his own son. His eye twitched. “Just don’t cause trouble.”

    Shane couldn’t be bothered to argue. As he left, he tossed over his shoulder, “If I were you, I wouldn’t do something stupid.”

    Jonathan wasn’t someone you could easily deal with. And even if Jonathan died, would that really be the

    end of it?

    Someone would still need to take the fall.

    After that call, Sierra really did feel a flicker of panic. Her first instinct was to go to Jonathan. They had people. Getting him out wouldn’t be that hard.
