Under Gu Nian’s frequent dish-adding behavior, Nan Jin Yu, who originally had a poor appetite, ate quite a bit.

After Gu Nian walked out, Wuxin quietly followed up.

"Miss Gu!" Wuxin called out.

Gu Nian stopped in her tracks upon hearing someone call her, and turned back, "Brother Wuxin, do you need something?"

"I just have a few words to say to Miss Gu, I hope you don’t find me annoying." Wuxin opened up the conversation humorously.

"Brother Wuxin, you’re being too polite, whatever you have to say, just say it, as long as it doesn’t trouble me too much," Gu Nian playfully stuck out her tongue, smiling.

"It won’t trouble you, I just want to ask Miss Gu, if you have time, to often come and have a meal with my master. His health isn’t great, but when Miss Gu is there, at least he eats a bit more," Wuxin reluctantly requested.

Gu Nian thought he had some serious matter, but it was just this.

She knew Nan Jin Yu had always had a poor appetite, but when she’s around, he would at least eat some more.

Turns out, what she thought was his poor appetite was actually after he already ate a bit more.

Nodding, Gu Nian said, "Alright, if I have nothing else to do, I’ll come by every day to have lunch with him."

Thinking that breakfast should be eaten well and dinner eaten less, having a bit more at lunch is fine, Gu Nian thought.

Wuxin nodded, "Then I’ll trouble Miss Gu."

Two mats were spread in the yard, and the three of them were helping with quilt-making.

Gu Nian greeted them politely, "Mom, I’m back. Aunt Wang and Aunt Zhu are here too?"

"Yes, we’re helping your mom with the quilts. You know your mom, it’s not even cold yet, and she’s already preparing such thick quilts, doesn’t she mind them taking up space?" Mrs. Zhu laughed.

Gu Nian blinked, not knowing how to respond.

It seemed mom hadn’t told Aunt Wang and Aunt Zhu that this quilt was prepared for Pandi, not for their own use.

Mrs. Jiang suddenly spoke, addressing Gu Nian, "Niannian, go check the kitchen first, your brother’s been fiddling around there for ages, see if he’s made the smoked sausage according to the method you taught."

"Alright, I’ll go," Gu Nian said, heading to the kitchen, bypassing where they sat.

Then, Mrs. Jiang explained Pandi’s situation to the two sisters-in-law.

Upon hearing this, the smile on Mrs. Wang’s face faded a bit, "Third sister-in-law, don’t be upset by what big sister-in-law says, but Pandi isn’t your own daughter. Considering what happened between her family and yours recently, if you really pity her, maybe just give her a few copper coins. Such a thick quilt, won’t you feel a bit regretful giving it to her?"
