CHAPTER 67: CHAPTER 67: DO IT YOURSELF FOR A PROSPEROUS LIFE
By the creek, Gu Nian and Little Hu were picking snails, while Sanhu was cutting pig grass not far away.
After collecting almost enough, Little Hu said, "Little sister, I’m going to see if there are any fish inside. You stay here and don’t run off!"
Given Gu Nian’s experience of always running off the previous two times, even though she always stumbled upon good things, it made the family worried sick.
So, Lin Sanshui specially reminded all the kids at home, when going out, the chores can be done later, but you must keep an eye on Gu Nian.
"I know." Gu Nian obediently replied, at least verbally.
If she didn’t run off, how could she take out the stuff?
She couldn’t help but once again dislike her age; if she were a few years older, she could do many things.
Little Hu got into the water, and since the ground was full of stones, he walked very carefully.
Gu Nian walked a bit forward, looked around to ensure no one was watching, and took two one or two-pound-sized carp out of her space and put them into the water.
Coincidentally, this part of the water was surrounded by large stones, so the two fish swam around without finding an exit.
Gu Nian smiled knowingly, turned back, and shouted, "Big brother, come quickly, there are fish here..."
"Coming!" Little Hu straightened up and walked over from the water. He thought they were just ordinary small fish but burst into laughter when he saw two big fish trapped in the puddle, "Little sister, you’re amazing. Hurry and get the basket."
Saying this, Little Hu had already gotten busy.
The fish were slippery and hard to catch in the water, but fortunately, with the stones blocking them, they couldn’t escape, and eventually, they couldn’t escape Little Hu’s grasp.
Gu Nian brought the basket over and, besides the snails they just collected, added the two fish.
"The water here is shallow. I’ve never seen such big fish before." Little Hu laughed excitedly.
Sanhu also came over with a load of pig grass and handed Gu Nian two wild eggs, boasting slightly, "Little sister, I picked these wild eggs from the grass. When we get back, I’ll cook them for you."
"Big brother, you only picked two wild eggs, but little sister and I caught two big fish!" Little Hu said as he stepped aside to let Sanhu see their basket.
Sanhu felt a bit deflated.
Then, with a glint in his eyes, he said, "Catching two big fish isn’t your doing. I heard from over there, it was little sister who spotted them."
"But I caught them!" Little Hu retorted, unwilling to concede.
Gu Nian held the wild eggs in her hands but wasn’t interested in eating them; she had other ideas.
Looking at Sanhu and Little Hu still arguing, Gu Nian asked, "Big brother, big bro, do you know if anyone nearby hunts?"
Gu Nian wanted to get more animals into her space. Otherwise, the large space would feel too empty.
Moreover, she could control everything in the space with her mind, thus mastering all the power over life and death within. She wasn’t afraid that wild beasts would attack her once inside.
Sanhu shook his head, "Our village doesn’t have any, but the neighboring village does have a hunter. Why are you asking, little sister?"
"I’m just curious, asking randomly." Of course, Gu Nian couldn’t reveal her true thoughts.
Fortunately, these two couldn’t possibly guess what Gu Nian was thinking.
"It’s still early; why don’t we go dig for bird eggs?" Little Hu didn’t want to go home. He also wanted some eggs, but with only two wild eggs, they weren’t even enough for little sister to eat.
So, he had to do it himself; self-reliance leads to abundance.
