CHAPTER 85: THE ALLIANCE!?

Shortly thereafter, the air shimmered with magical white energy; Ling’er, Saintess, along with the Jia Mei, found their essence restored.

Young Master Zhao stood tall, his piercing gaze sweeping across the group of disciples belonging to the haughty Young Master’s faction.

"Take out all your possessions and leave this place immediately," he said, his voice resonating like the toll of a solemn bell echoing through the valley.

* * *

Tai Qing Lian was in the midst of explaining the gravity of their situation when a sudden movement caught her attention.

She turned to see a woman in white robes, her face obscured by a veil, walking towards them with a graceful yet determined stride. At her side walked a young man, his demeanor relaxed, yet there was an underlying tension in his posture that suggested a hidden strength.

Tai Qing Lian’s eyes narrowed as she observed the newcomers. The woman’s movements were fluid, elegant almost ethereal like a noble daughter, while the young man seemed to exude a calm confidence.

Just two?

"Who are they?" she asked, her voice low and cautious.

"Friends," the young man replied with a casual wave of his hand. "Or at least, we could be. We are here to propose an alliance."

Tai Qing Lian’s grip tightened on her weapon, her instincts told her that this was no ordinary offer.

She knew that alliances were crucial for survival in this treacherous environment, but she also understood the risks of trusting strangers.

"What kind of alliance?" she pressed, her tone sharp and demanding.

The woman stepped forward with an air of nobility, her veil fluttering slightly in the breeze like a wisp of smoke caught in a gentle gust.

She fixed her gaze upon the women, her eyes conveying a mix of urgency and resolve. "Please, don’t misunderstand us," she began, her voice steady yet laced with a profound sense of gravity.

"Our other members have already faced death three times and we lack points to resurrect them. This has left us with only two remaining allies in our fight. As such, we are earnestly seeking an ally. Someone who can stand with us in these dire situations, someone we can trust to share the struggles." She paused, her expression softening slightly.

Tai Qing Lian’s eyebrows knit together in suspicion. The woman’s veiled face gave her words an air of mystery, yet the desperation in her voice was hard to ignore.

"You expect us to just accept your terms based on a sob story?"

The young man sighed, brushing a stray lock of hair from his forehead. "It’s not a sob story, it’s a fact. Our faction has been decimated. One needs strength to survive. You speak of alliances, yet how many can you truly trust in this realm of betrayal?"

True, they can’t trust anyone and she can’t trust women either. The world is like a snake and she can’t trust them either.

When cutting grass one must be wary of snakes.

"This one is ashamed but I still can’t trust you guys... You better leave from our sight or else we will have to make a move." Tai Qing Lan uttered as cold as ice knowing that keeping someone close is a fatal mistake.

The tension between the two groups became strong, quite palpable in the air as Tai Qing Lian’s icy demeanor pierced through the atmosphere. The young man’s brow furrowed, a flicker of disappointment crossing his dustless face.

"It seems Fairy is unable to comprehend the meaning of our words... We are not here to betray you," he asserted, his voice steady despite the palpable anxiety surrounding them. "We truly need allies. This isn’t just about us; it’s about survival. Whatever danger lurks out there, it targets us all."

Tai Qing Lian remained unmoved, tightening her grip on her weapon even more as doubt churned within her.

"The only ones I trust are my own," she said firmly, eyes darting over to her companions, silently gauging their reactions making sure she wasn’t the only else, it would be the lost sheep in the jungle.

"Sigh... Fine, let’s go," The woman said.

"Yes, Saintess!" The boy nodded.

After that, the Saintess and the boy went their own way and soon, they came across Zhao Fan and women, who were having a meal hunting a grade 3 beast.

"Saintess... That guy over here, he has very strong and dense Yang energy. He is a dual cultivator. We should leave or else he might make you his furnace." The boy said.

"No... This is our chance, that guy seems very strong. He can create fire, hunt beasts, and more, using body for survival is definitely worth it. Plus, under his shadow, we might revive the dead ones and even gain rare things once we progress." The Saintess uttered with a gentle smile under her veil.

"Saintess, please don’t take unnecessary risks. There are always other ways," the young man insisted, his tone tinged with concern as he glanced nervously at the group in the distance, his posture tense and ready for action.

The Saintess turned to him, her gaze steady and resolute. "There may be other ways, but sometimes taking the most direct path leads to the greatest rewards. This is a matter of survival and we can’t afford to be overly cautious. As much as we hate it, we are weak... The Immortal land lied to us. It’s not a pile of treasure but a trap of death."

It’s better to survive and make long-term progress than to die here, one to be wise than to stick to a meaningless principle.

The young man frowned, his expression showing the internal conflict he was facing. "But Saintess, you’re our hope for revival. If something happens to you, our faction’s future will be in jeopardy."

Truth be told, he likes saintess and, the mere thought of her sharing her affections with another man, entertaining him, and even warming his bed, sends a surge of anger coursing through his veins.

It’s an unbearable image that makes his blood boil, filling him with a deep sense of jealousy and frustration.

How can he possibly tolerate the idea of someone else by her side, whispering sweet nothings in her ear and making her laugh in ways he longs to?

How can someone else plant his seed into her Yin Garden?

The Saintess placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, her touch gentle yet reassuring. "I understand your concerns, but we can’t let fear dictate our actions. Sometimes the greatest risks lead to the most profound victories. Trust in me, and together we shall overcome this trial."

With that said, the Saintess began walking towards the group.
