The Magical Beast Girl Won't Leave Me Alone!
Chapter 87: Battle Formation, At the Ready!
CHAPTER 87: BATTLE FORMATION, AT THE READY!
Liohime could feel the quickened rate of his beating heart as the sounds of chaos behind him began to rise.
Some Shinigami Soldiers quivered in fear, while many others were ready to stand strong.
As for him, he could surely say that he was part of the latter, because-
Because no matter what, that money and that bet will be mine!
Disregarding the balance shifting in his body as he quickly stood up on Shihon’s furry back, he did not hesitate to leap off of her and spring into midair, catching the attention of many around him.
He instantly whipped out his handgun that had been strapped to his waist and aimed with perfect precision at his target- the fiery Magical Beast phoenix.
And with an incredible maneuver, he hung his index finger on the trigger and pulled it, just as he noticed the left wing of the bird change color into a metallic silver.
BANG!
The bullet whizzed out of the barrel from the gun, and-
Ping.
...
...
...
It had been slapped away nonchalantly by the fucking bird.
"H.....uh?"
All of the mouths of the Shinigami Soldiers who were watching on hung open with shock, while Harvey was the only one who was a real hater to burst out in laughter.
All color drained from Liohime’s face as he could see the phoenix stare him down with a face of disgust and disdain.
I didn’t even know an expression like that could emerge out of a damn bird. I guess that I was wrong.
And as the hang time was now reduced to nothing, Liohime Kitagami was now about to descend sharply, headfirst.
Ah, I’m dead.

...Is what I would mumble out if the power of love and plot armor didn’t kick in here, as Shihon’s courageous attempt at shooting out vines above to catch her Master was successful, and a bed of tulips bloomed on her back as he was safely cushioned back into his original position.
And as soon as Liohime had escaped one of the most embarrassing deaths of web novel characters, everyone went mad.
"A-Aim for that egotistical fucking bird!!"
"Get ready to meet the various Magical Beasts that are following us from the left side!!"
"Lio! You’re alive!! Unfortunately!!"
As you can probably guess, that last sentence was by...you know what, I’m not even going to say it.
Anyway, despite being dazed, Liohime was about to command Shihon to help with a new method of attack, when-
"Liohime!" You distract that bird while I finish it off!" yelled Yariko with a hushed tone, while staying beside him.
"O-Okay! Shihon! Long range attack!"
Undergoing a new challenge of trying to launch an attack while still running, Shihon let out a howl of powerful wind that blew out of her mouth, and the phoenix only barely avoided it, having the fire that lit up its right wing blown out.
With a quick counter, the giant phoenix sped forward with a dive, and before Liohime or Yariko could make a command, a gust of breeze from its right wing slapped Liohime in the face, almost knocking the wind out of his face.
Damn, a Magical Beast that personally hates you is definitely something.
Fortunately, Killcreation’s extra arm had snatched the bird in midair just as it was about to close in on Liohime to finish the job, and it merely smashed the creature into the ground below as it bounced off of the ground while sputtering, tumbling into the stampede that followed behind them.
Liohime and Yariko silently exchanged glances on hearing the faint cracking of bones that quickly faded into nothingness.
"...So, how was the feeling of being bitched by a bird...? Was it enlightening?"
"I hate you."
Liohime slumped forward while Shihon ensured that he stayed in position by wrapping his body onto her back a bit tightly with vines, while Yariko breathed a sigh of relief, although it was short lived.
"In a few minutes, most of the people behind us will be faced with Magical Beast attacks, as we are slowly widening the gap with them due to the speed of our partners. I suggest that you save your strength and continue with our Hallory Circuit group who are now far ahead. It’s a bit selfish of me, but we will need your Magical Beast’s endurance and strength in case of a direct confrontation with the guards of the Paradisus Legion Tower."
While Yariko spoke, both Shihon and Killcreation eyed each other as they ran side by side, having fought just a few days before, with the former giving a nasty glare while the latter gave the usual expressionless side-eye.
Liohime gave him a calm glance, and averted his eyes while turning back, trying to search for his Polar Town workmates, while Yariko continued:
"I know that you have your own group to look out for, so I won’t argue if you decide otherwise. However, with you and I at the front lines, the plan of breaking through the first real hurdle is pretty much all but confirmed. Also, in this mission, the main goal other than retrieving the mysterious Magical Beast egg is giving yourself the best chance of survival, even if it means leaving the others that you know to fend for themselves."
Liohime paused and bit his lower lip on hearing that. It was a harsh reality, but what he said made sense.
Finally spotting Jolene, Bica, Ophiel and Leah all desperately clinging onto the upper body of Harvey’s new Magical Beast which was a giant purple anaconda that slithered along from a distance (the author is just making anything a Magical Beast now, bear with him), his face relaxed as he pondered for a few seconds, and then her faced Yariko.
"Yeah, you’re right. It would be a hassle to return to the others and ask for their assistance when they’re busy with their own problems, but we know each other’s strengths, so we’ll work with that."
"Nice. Then, let’s get into battle formation," the man beside him replied. "There’s still a chance where we could run into more beasts up ahead, and we’re getting closer and closer to the tower. Liohime, both of us will lead the front of the entire group."
Obeying without a second of delay, Liohime commanded Shihon to inch closer to Killcreation, while Yariko ordered five of his nine coworkers to move behind both of them and spread out, and the other four to remain at their sides.
Liohime and Yariko nodded to each other and then faced forward, ready for incoming struggles.
