The tension that had gripped us felt almost laughable—because when we stepped inside, the office was empty. There was no intruder, no monster. Only the wreckage of what once was.

The room was in utter disarray. Furniture lay shattered, books and papers scattered across the floor like the aftermath of a storm.

“What the hell…? How did this happen…?”

I was at a loss for words.

None of this made sense. My father’s office had always been locked, and only three people had the key: Harrison, the head butler, and me.

Could the butler have…? But why now, of all times?

With the world in chaos, breaking into an office to steal something seemed absurd.

Besides, there wasn’t much worth stealing here. Nothing necessary for survival. All valuables and heirlooms had been stored elsewhere.

“It looks like someone was searching for something. There are bloodstains all over. Judging by the marks on the furniture, they were injured and stumbling around.”

Ethan crouched down, studying the blood splatters on the floor.

Kellyan turned away, looking like he had just seen something unspeakable.

“Could you not crouch like that while wearing a chemise? It’s unsettling.”

“Then give me your clothes.”

Ethan flicked his ear with a lazy smirk.

He probably wouldn’t accept pants, but a jacket might be fair game. Then again, if he was going to wear only a jacket, he might as well stay in the chemise.

Honestly, if Ethan wants to wear it, Kellyan should just give up his uniform already.

I glanced over Kellyan’s royal guard attire, weighing the possibility.

Sensing my gaze, Kellyan immediately crossed his arms over his chest in a defensive stance.
