Chapter 103: The Capital
CHAPTER 103: THE CAPITAL
A pillar of light erupted from the teleportation platform as a huge number of people appeared. One group among them was of Adriana, Jane and Jordan.
"Whoa! Amazing. It’s so much beautiful and bigger than Gemburn." Jane exclaimed in surprise, seeing the buildings and the roads, as they had arrived at the capital, Regelak city.
The street was almost twice the size of the streets in Gemburn, and there were no building having less than two floors. And as the eyes went up, the King’s palace could be seen at the distance, placed uphill, at the highest point of the city.
"Where now?" Jane asked.
"First to the inn. We have two rooms booked under our military in the ’starlit inns’. After settling down, I’ll go and register our team." Adriana said.
The two of them nodded and started moving. As they walked through the main street, they saw the local people of the city in luxurious clothes. They all looked like nobles. The carriages were also more exquisite and adorned with jewels, turning people’s heads as they passed by.
They passed the street and moved through the market, experiencing the chaos and business of the capital market. The street foods, vegetables, meats, accessories and jewelries were something that they had never seen back home.
The three of them were stupefied and taken aback by the glow and splendor of the capital, it was captivating as well as fascinating. After half an hour of walk, they finally arrived in front of their inn.
The board at the top had the name written in big and bold letters, ’STARLIT INN’. Without delay they moved inside.
They knew that their military didn’t have much funds to spare, so they knew that they have been assigned the cheapest and most basic inn in the capital, as its location was also quite far from the central plaza.
But when they entered inside, they were shocked that if this was the cheapest and basic inn, what would the luxurious ones would look like.
The whole floor was spread with beautiful carpets, the furniture, floor, stairs, walls and doors were all made of fine wood and were shining from the gloss on them. There was a chandelier on the ceiling and glowing mana stones had made the insides so bright that it was sparkling.
Just then a female employee in a red waistcoat over her dress arrived near them.
"Are you team Adriana from Gemburn?" she asked politely.
"Yes. We are." Adriana replied.
"We were expecting you, your rooms have been arranged. Let me get the luggage." She then waved her hand as a bubble appeared out of her palm and grew bigger in size. Their luggage then floated up and moved inside the bubble.
"Please, this way." she asked them to follow her to their rooms as the bubble floated and moved along with them.
The three of them climbed up the stairs and moving through the hallway, reached their rooms. The employee opened the door to their two rooms with the special red metal cards sliding over the mana stone door plates.
As the doors opened with a click, they moved inside. there was a common room and two bedrooms inside. even this was a shock for them since it was spacious enough to accommodate four rooms from the inns in Gemburn.
"You guys get settled. I’ll complete the registration process in the meantime." Adriana said.
"Alright. Come back quick, we’ll be in the dining area. It’s been screaming from a long time." Jane said pointing at her belly.
Adriana chuckled as she nodded. "Do you know where the registration for the tournament is going on?" She asked the employee.
"Yes. It’s near the fountain in the central plaza."
"Ok. Thank you." She smiled, thanking her and then moved out of the room.
After coming out of the inn, she then moved through the street towards the direction of the King’s palace, which was visible at the distance. As she guessed the central plaza should be nearer to the palace and towards the inner part of the city.
After crossing two to three streets, she finally reached the central plaza. It was a huge open space, about the area of one part of their military headquarters. The floor was fitted with beautiful stone tiles all around.
At the center of the plaza was a beautiful and mesmerizing fountain, and just beside the fountain, a long bench was places and about twenty enforcers were seated, registering the teams.
Since they have arrived quite early, about four days before the tournament, the crowd was not that large, but not a single enforcer was sitting idle as participants were on everyone’s front.
Adriana quicky moved to the queue with just two people in front of her. After just a few minutes, her turn came.
"Name of team please." The enforcer asked.
"Team Adriana."
"Affiliation?"
"Gemburn military."
"Invitation and recommendation letter please."
Adriana immediately passed him the two letters. After checking it thoroughly, he gave them back to her along with a round token with the number fifty four on it.
"This is your team number. Please don’t lose the token, failing to provide it at the start of the tournament will result in disqualification." The enforcer said in a serious tone.
"Yes. I understand." She took the token and the letters, put them in her small dimensional bag and moved away.
"Adriana!" Just when she was walking away, someone called her from the back. when she turned around and saw the one who called her, surprise flashed on her face, but then it instantly turned into fury as she rushed to him in fast steps.
"You bastard! You lied to me about the flower." She held his collar and said through gritted teeth.
"Come on. I never lied. I just didn’t tell you that there was more than one flower." Luke said with a grin on his face.
She wanted to retort, but she couldn’t as what Luke had said was not wrong. She sighed and released her grip from his collar.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
"I’m here to participate in the tournament, representing the guild."
"What!? How the hell did you convince the guild?" Adriana exclaimed, she couldn’t believe it at all.
"Hey! You think we’re weak or what? The guildmaster himself recommended us. We didn’t even knew about the tournament."
"Look at that. Two useless leaders meet again. I hope you two may stay awake this time and not leave your team on their own in the tournament." A voice came from their back, as Raven walked towards them with a sarcastic grin on his face.
