CHAPTER 60: JOIN ME IN DEATH!

Three days after the council meeting, four teams of tower enforcers consisting of five members each were stationed around the pit of remorse. They had been doing nothing for these two days, after they arrived here, and by this time they were completely relaxed.

Some of them were just having a drink and chilling, while a few others had set up a table and were playing card games and betting coins.

It was a completely carefree and relaxed environment. Nobody kept their attention on the pit and were enjoying themselves with their back against it.

"Haha! I won this round! Hand over your coins now!" one of the enforcers laughed out loud as he won the round in the card game.

There were about seven of them in a round playing and betting. The others clicked their tongues upon losing and were about to hand their coins over when they froze, shock and confusion written all over their faces.

"What’s the matter? I won fairly! Come on, have the courage to part with your coins upon losing, if you can’t even..." he stopped abruptly as he saw thick black fog below him, which had risen upto his knees and was moving forward slowly.

The others stood up and unconsciously moved back.

"W-What’s this?" he was shocked and fear gripped his senses, before he could react, the black fog slowly moved up from his legs, moving to his head and through his nose and mouth seeped in.

"Oi h-help me....AARGHHHHHH!!" he screamed out in pain as slowly his veins bulged out and turned black, his body started burning up and got charred black. His flesh rotted away and his bones showed out as he froze on the spot, dead.

"GET AWAY FROM THE FOG! PULL UP MANA SHIELDS!" One of the enforcers shouted loud.

Runic magic circles appeared in front of each enforcer spread around the pit and slowly a transparent mana shield rose up, combing together to form a dome around the pit.

The black fog was being contained inside the dome and it slowly started rising and filled the dome whole, turning visibility inside to nothing.

Everyone waited with breaths held, fear and anxiety had taken over their minds. Silence stretched in the region, the deep breaths of the enforcers could be heard at times, sweat trickled down their foreheads, waiting for the uncertain.

BOOM!

The dome shattered at the top and from there cracks started forming throughout. The black fog started seeping out from the cracks, moving forward again.

One teams of enforcer on the northern side, opposite to the one where one of them died, turned around when they heard something land behind them.

Dust was flying everywhere, they couldn’t see what was behind. One of them started moving ahead trying to get a clear look, but after taking just a few steps, a huge bulky hand came out of the dust and held his jaw.

The enforcer whimpered as he was lifted up in the air, his legs kicking and struggling, but just then a head came out and bit at his throat. He pulled half of the neck out with a bite as blood sprayed around like a fountain, his legs stopped struggling and went limp.

"Hahahaha! Oh! How much I missed the taste of fresh food!" Shatun laughed out loud, showing his blood soaked canines as he gulped the meat down his throat.

"C-cannibal! A m-monster!" the enforcers behind were shocked to the core, fear clouded their minds, their legs wobbled in fear as a few of them slumped down on the ground.

"Bon appetite!" Shatun grinned wide and vanished from his spot, starting a bloodbath and filling his stomach.

"Raise the shield! Don’t let the fog touch you!" one of the enforcers on the northern side yelled. They were shocked and confused as screaming and laughing noises were coming from the opposite side, but they weren’t able to see anything because of the fog.

Finally, the noises stopped and the surrounding went silent again. but before they could relax, the ground started shaking, as if a huge heard of beast were running towards them.

As the fog cleared above, they could see a hooded figure levitating above the pit, wrapped in a long black coat made up of the same black fog swirling around in the area.

Ames had risen.

He waved his hand and the black fog swirled together forming long pointy arrow like structures. He moved his arm forward, and the arrows of fog listening to his command zoomed forward, breaking the shields like stone striking an egg and pierced through their hearts, keeping them suspended in the air with the arrow struck inside the ground and killing them on the spot, leaving a few lucky ones injured, taking away only an arm of theirs.

The vibrations in the ground intensified as then an army of boney skeletons climbed up the pit and rushed towards the enforcers on the other two sides. Some of them had a skeleton arm or a leg missing, some had cracked heads, but they all had two blue fires ignited in their eye sockets.

They only had one command, kill!

The skeletons jumped on the enforcers, but they stopped them somehow with the mana shield up, but slowly when the numbers increased from a few to hundreds, to thousands and then millions, it became impossible to hold back.

Flame shots rained on the skeletons, breaking them up and some of them burning. But being an undead, death was just the beginning for them, their bones assembled again and they stood up straight, ready to move even with their bones burning, they ran towards the living.

Ames slowly descended to the ground, the black fog moving with him. As his feet fell on the ground near the bodies of the enforcers, with a wave of his hands, the fog arrows dissipated and combined with the rest and the bodies fell on the ground.

"Rise!"

The bodies of the enforcers shook, a blue fire ignited in their pupils and they slowly stood up. Without a change in their expression, they turned around and followed behind Ames.

The ones alive were scared shitless now. they knew they aren’t going to survive today, so they immediately started chanting and trying blow up their bodies.

But immediately the fog rushed ahead and moved through their noses and mouth and similar to the first one, their veins bulged, they choked, skin peeled and charred black as they burned up and slowly died.

When Ames passed through their lifeless bodies, he spread his arm and waved them upwards.

"Rise!!" they stood up and joined his parade too, leading to an army of dead behind him.

Ames moved ahead with a stoic face, without stopping, without looking back once.
