CHAPTER 65: PRISON BREAK (1)

In the most popular and crowded tavern, in Umbrage city, Glaskow kingdom, two young men were sitting at the farthest corner table, away from the crowd.

All the others were avoiding going near them as one of them had a huge, more than seven feet tall monstrous figure, and the other one a mysterious figure, with a hood over his head.

"I-I thought rodents were the t-tastiest food! B-but this food is d-divine!" Kiba excitedly gobbled the food from the plates.

"Eat all you want!" Ames smiled, seeing his excitement.

The chaotic environment that usually persisted in the tavern was nowhere to be seen, the people kept stealing glances at them and felt an unknown pressure on themselves, from the presence of these two young men.

Ames had changed his and Kiba’s appearances, as their faces in the bounty posters were everywhere in the empire. It had been a week since they caused the bloodbath in the pit of remorse.

Though the people looked doubtful, they couldn’t be sure and decided to wait rather than jumping to conclusion immediately, and thus bombarded them with the frequent looks and murmurs amongst themselves.

"You two are getting too much attention here!" the waitress, a young girl with her hair tied behind in a bun and wearing a tight collared shirt and a black skirt, with a half apron adorned over her shirt said, as she arrived at their table with another plate of food and a glass of ale.

"It seems so!" Ames replied.

"In Umbrage, gaining too much attention will lead to either the prison or the morgue! Keep an eye out for yourself!" She said with a smirk.

"I’d like to take the path to the prison? Any suggestions?" Ames passed a gold coin towards her as he asked with a smile.

"You don’t seem like a fool! What are you getting at?" she was shocked seeing him offer a gold coin, and got curious about why he’d like to go to the prison when everyone runs away from it.

Ames just smiled and didn’t say anything. She understood and didn’t poke further.

"You see that man in the enforcer uniform there? He’s the vice jailer! I don’t need to explain further, I guess!" she said pointing at a man with short stature and a moustache, drinking alone at the table in the middle.

"Thank you!"

"You’re welcome!" she gave a mischievous smile as she took the coin and left with her tray and the empty plates.

"How dare you involve my brother in such plans!" a cold voice came from Kiba, who was being taken over now by Shatun.

"So, you’re here! I’m not involving your brother; I’ll be involving you!"

"Discuss things with me first! I’ve decided to follow you because you’re stronger than me, it doesn’t mean I’m your slave! I’ll eat you whole the day you become weak!"

"Sure! Do as you like! But for now, follow my orders! I’m the emperor and you’re the king, remember?" Ames asked teasingly.

Shatun scoffed and started eating again. After a single bite, he spit the meat out on the plate.

"How can you people eat this, it has no flavor, what shit is this!" Shatun yelled out in anger.

"This is normal food! They don’t serve humans here!"

"Why did you bring me here then? I’ll taste those fuckers looking at us then!"

"Hold your horses! I’ll let you eat! Just have some patience!"

"I bought your brother all this food, not you! He looked excited and enjoyed it a lot!" Ames said pointing at the food on the table.

When he heard that Kiba enjoyed the food, he cleared his throat and didn’t say anything further, folding his arms over his chest, he sat obediently.

"Why are we sitting here doing nothing?" Shatun asked with a grumpy expression.

"We’re waiting!"

"For whom?"

"You’ll know soon!"

Shatun just scoffed and didn’t ask further. He picked the glass of ale and started drinking.

"Ooh!! This tastes good! I want more!"

Ames laughed and raised his hand to call for the waitress.

There were now over ten empty glasses of ale. Shatun was finally full and burped out loud.

The vice jailer they were waiting for took his time as he kept on drinking! After finally emptying the last glass, he stood up, his legs wobbling as he tried to balance himself, he was completely drunk.

Without paying, he just walked towards the exit and the tavern owner didn’t say a word, as he knew that asking him money was like loosing everything and giving himself an invitation to the prison.

"Let’s move!" Ames left a gold coin on the table and stood up, moving towards the exit, and Shatun followed behind him.

It was a moonless night and the light from the mana stone fitted on the street lamps was the only thing illuminating the streets. The vice jailer kept stumbling and swaying here and there as he walked. Ames and Shatun quietly followed him at a distance.

He then walked past a turn and suddenly stopped, then walked backwards and after laughing out loud and shaking his head took the turn, moving away from the main road.

There were not many street lamps on this road and very few people were walking by. After a few minutes, silence spread in the moonless night. There was no one on the road except the drunk vice jailer along with Ames and Shatun.

Ames waved his hand and dark black fog of naraka seeped out of Ames’s robe, moving towards the Vice jailer and enclosed him in a dome like structure.

"Hmm? W-who turned the l-lamps o-o-off! I’ll throw you in the p-prison!" he screamed, as his speech slurred when darkness spread in front of his eyes.

The naraka flowed from the fog and seeped through his temples inside. His body shook and immediately froze on the spot.

The dome deformed and the black fog of naraka retreated back to Ames and assimilated in the robe again.

"Can I eat him?" Shatun asked as both he and Ames reached near him.

"No! He has a use!"

"What use?"

"He’s the ticket to freedom!" Ames smirked.
