CHAPTER 69: SPIRIT BEAST SUMMONER

"Why aren’t you breaking these chains off?" Lamia asked.

"I will, eventually. But there are some things that need to be cleared first." Ames replied.

Miles away from Umbrage, in a small forest, Ames and the other two were sitting around a fire inside a small cave. There was boar meat on long sticks stuck on the ground around the fire, being cooked slowly.

"It’s delicious big brother Ames! Can I have some more?" Kiba asked excitedly, chewing on the boar meat with content.

He had shed all the boundaries and treated Ames as his big brother now, as Ames had won him over with all kinds of delicious foods.

"Take as much as you want." Ames smiled at Kiba as he affirmed.

Kiba was ecstatic and excitedly pulled out another stick and started eating. He gobbled it up with a smile, even tough the meat was still a bit raw.

Lamia had a disgusted look on her face, as she looked at Kiba. This meek and child like character was the same one, who had devoured living humans whole a day earlier. No matter how much she tried, she couldn’t get comfortable with the two personalities inside this one man.

"Why did you get me out of the prison?" Lamia decided to ignore Kiba and shifted her focus back on Ames.

"Because I need you."

"For what?"

"For my vengeance. I’ll need your talents, since you’re the best spirit beast summoner I’ve met till now."

"What do I get in return for helping you?" She asked,

"You get to live." Ames said with a smirk.

Silence stretched between them, her head gazing on the ground, sitting without a word.

Just then, she hit the meat stick in her hand on the rock she was sitting on, leading to it breaking in half, leaving it with a pointy edge. She immediately pounced at Ames as the chains rattled, aiming the pointy stick with a piece of meat still on it, towards Ames’s neck.

The stick stopped right before touching Ames’s skin.

"You’re overestimating yourself Lamia." The naraka from Ames’s coat had morphed into three needles. One aimed below her chin, one at her heart and the last one, pricking at her arm as a drop of blood trickled down, falling on the ground.

"You pushed me in that hell when you wanted to be a hypocrite justice seeking bastard, and now you give me an olive branch when you fell like acting the villain. Why should I help you, you pathetic fucker!"

The shadow behind Ames then extended back and small bluish black pair of flames ignited inside the shadow. Slowly a pair of flames rose out of the shadow, letting Lamia get a clear look.

The flames were burning inside the sockets of the eyes of a skeleton head. It climbed out of the shadow and took a knee as it bowed towards Ames. Lamia’s eyes opened wide, it was quite a shock for her.

"Y-You’re a necromancer!?"

"I’m death itself." Ames proclaimed in a cold voice.

"Either you join me alive, or you join me in death. The choice is yours."

Lamia gritted her teeth in frustration. She gazed into Ames’s eyes, as they were unwavering and cold. She realized Ames was serious. A sigh escaped her; she moved her hand back and went back to her seat.

The naraka dissolved their needle form and assimilated back into Ames’s coat. The skeleton moved back inside the shadow and it retracted back into the original shape.

"I have a condition though. You have to help me kill someone. You know who I’m talking about." Lamia said.

"I’ll kill him anyway. He plotted against me and tried to end me too."

Lamia was surprised when she heard that.

"So, he hasn’t changed his ways till now." Lamia chuckled. "Alright. I’ll join you."

"A wise decision." Ames smiled.

Naraka then condensed in the form of a small dagger and he made a cut on his palm. Blood flowed out, Ames then waved his hand and a few drops combined together into a sphere and floated over the fire.

"Show me your palm." Ames asked Lamia.

"What are you gonna do?" she asked, skeptical.

"A blood pact, so that neither of us can betray each other."

Lamia hesitated at first but then agreed as it could ensure that both of them keep their promise. She moved her palm forward and a dagger made of naraka came towards her and made a cut on the palm.

Blood condensed into a sphere and it then moved towards the sphere made from Ames’s blood and mixed into each other. A crimson runic circle formed throughout the area of the sphere.

"I vow that I’ll help you kill Acheron Vamos, in return, you’ll join my team and help me in my endeavors, and never betray me." Ames spoke in a loud voice.

"I vow that I’ll join your team and help you in your endeavors, and never betray you. In return you shall kill Acheron Vamos for me."

The sphere glowed bright and separated into two spheres again and zoomed towards both of their hearts, moving through the skin and getting engraved on the heart as a seal.

The naraka dagger then cut the chains and cuffs, freeing Lamia.

"Finally!" Lamia roared as she felt free for the first time in years.

Green mana then started condensing in her hands. A runic circle formed on the ground behind her, and a huge moth of about four meters long wingspan, beautiful glowing crimson wings appeared out of the circle.

The moth then wrapped itself around Lamia, turning into a beautiful crimson robe and the head morphed into a hood with two eyes at the edge of the hood. It was like she was wearing a robe that is alive.

"WOW!!" Kiba finally lifted his head up from eating and exclaimed seeing the beautiful sight.

Crimson spores like dust fell all over Lamia’s body and all the dirt and wounds vanished, revealing her clear and spotless brown skin. Her hair tied into a braid itself.

"What help do you need then?" She asked Ames.

"Summon your ride. We’re going to a place to level up first."

Mana moved out of her and formed a huge runic circle on the ground.

ROAR!

A humongous beast with a snake like body of about seven meters long, dark blue scales all over, no hands or legs, with a flat dog like face and mane around its head like a lion, came out of the circle and blasted through the cave ceiling and out in the sky.

Ames casted a shield around the three of them, as the debris from the ceiling slid off below.

The beast turned around and poked its head inside the cave through the hole, brought its face near Lamia and started licking her cheeks with its tongue.

"Aiyoo!! my cutie Bo." Lamia rubbed its face and petted him as it kept licking her lovingly.

"OOHH!! Can I eat it! It looks damn tasty!" Shatun had taken over and he was drooling looking at Bo with his eyes opened wide.

"I’ll kill you fucker." Lamia looked threateningly at Shatun as Bo whimpered and shrinked back in fear.

"Let’s move!" Ames said.

"Where?" Lamia asked curious.

"The Samahan deserts."
