CHAPTER 97: I BOW BEFORE THE DEMON KING
At the borders of the Redmaglan kingdom near the Samahan deserts, there was a lawless city, infested with all kinds of criminal groups, runaway prisoners, murderers, thieves and all kinds of dregs of the society, where no common people lived and even the enforcers and military avoided this plagued region, this city was called Sandfall.
in the outer district of the city, there was a big party going on in the local tavern, which was a two storied building with basic wood furniture inside, and one of the few taverns that could host these lawless criminals, since it was owned by one of the top gang leaders of the city.
The lower floor was full of chaos as almost a hundred men, all goons and criminals, full of disheveled beards and hair, wearing blood stained dirty clothes, their mouth and hands oily from voraciously biting off meat, also with their weapons placed at their side were laughing maniac, quarreling, shouting and clinking glasses as they were chugging the beer down.
Amid that chaos, Ames and his group were calmly sitting at the first floor table, beside the railing, as the noise from down below kept molesting their ears. Lamia was losing her appetite seeing those animals below throwing more food at each other than eating.
"Why the hell are we here?" She asked with a frown.
"It’s the safest place for criminals, and we’re one too if you’ve not forgotten." Ames relied.
"Still, there is the redlight district. The food and environment there is far better than here. And also, it’s safe for women there, how can you bring me among such brutes?"
"Because I don’t have money." Ames said nonchalantly. "How’s the food Kiba?" he immediately shifted his attention as he asked Kiba with a smile.
"Its great big brother! It’s even better than the previous city."
"Eat as much as you want." Ames said as he gave a smile and stated eating again.
Lamia sighed in helplessness. There was no use talking to these two. She was greatly feeling the need of another woman in their party right now.
Just then the door to the tavern was blasted open as the two doors went flying, hitting a few men at the table sitting straight to the door. Everybody went silent immediately as their eyes focused on the two figure that walked inside.
The two figures that entered were a young woman and a man in his thirties.
The woman had long and straight purple colored hair flowing down to her waist. She was wearing a tight fit black and red dress with intricate designs, showing her curves, and a robe just laid over her shoulders. Her seductive eyes were bright crimson, nails long and pointy, and as she smiled her sharp canines were showing out.
The man was in his thirties, with a light beard and blindfolded with a red worn out piece of cloth, he was wearing a black kimono with intricate red patterns as if the two were in a uniform. He had long black wavy hair falling upto his shoulders and tied with a ribbon, holding a katana in his hand as he stood tall.
"I heard the ’barbarics’ and their leader is here. Show your face!" The woman called out loud.
"Oi girl. Who the hell are you?" one man in the front said in a cold voice.
His question was met with an energy arc as his head rolled on the floor, blood gushing out like a fountain.
"Go ask the devils in hell." The girl said in a cold voice as her nails were coated in mana, sending the energy arc with a swing of her arm.
Silence spread in the whole tavern, no one expected her to kill someone so fast, all of them were shocked speechless.
After a few seconds, they finally recovered, picked their weapons and rushed towards the two of them, screaming their lungs out.
"Let me deal with them." A hoarse and deep voice came from her back as the man with the blindfold came forward.
He slightly pushed the katana out of the sheath with his thumb. Mana rushed to the blade and his feet, and instantly he vanished from his spot and appeared at the other end, passing all the gang members.
With a clink, his katana was back inside his sheath, and behind him an infinite trail of blade slashes appeared as blood rained inside the tavern, cutting all of them into pieces, not a single one left. They didn’t even realize when they were cut, and by the time they could realize, they were lying in pools of blood, dead.
"Ahghh!! This old man! at least you should have left some of them alive. How will we find the leader now?" the young woman yelled in frustration.
He should be the one above. The bosses usually sit in higher places." He said with a stoic face, pointing at Ames’s group above.
"Are you the boss?" the young girl shouted at Ames as he was sitting with his back towards them.
"One man ran away from the back door just when you two entered. Maybe he was the boss." Lamia said.
Ames suddenly turned around and the naraka from his robe came forward and formed a shield as an energy arc came towards them suddenly and struck the shield.
"This girl has no patience! Can you at least confirm first who we are?" Lamia screamed at her, annoyed.
"Old man! Catch that bastard, he’s definitely the boss."
The man with the blindfold vanished from his spot and appeared behind Ames and the others, as they got shocked seeing him appear suddenly.
"You dare disturb when my brother is enjoying his meal." Shatun had taken over as he swung his fist towards the man, aiming right on his face.
The man stood calm, without a twitch in his facial muscles, as if Shatun was no threat to him at all. Just when his fist was about to hit, the man lifted his arm up and held his fist within his palm and threw Shatun sideways as he flew back, breaking the tables along the way and stopping after hitting the wall and got stuck inside.
Ames was now worried, he realized this man was no ordinary, he was at least a mana master, and could be even higher. With tense expressions on their faces, both of them took their stance, ready for any surprise attack.
The man moved forward in slow strides. His every step raised their heartbeats. And just when he reached about just a few steps away from them, he bent his knee and kneeled on the floor, putting his katana near Ames’s feet and with his head touching the floor, he yelled out.
"I SEE MY ONE GOD! I BOW BEFORE THE DEMON KING!!"
Ames and Lamia were stupefied, they didn’t know how to react as they looked at each other in confusion.
The young girl below froze, her jaw almost touching the floor. " WHAT THE HELL YOU DOING, YOU MAD OLD MAN!!!"
