“What happened? I have no idea. You saw it with your own eyes, didn’t you? I didn’ty a finger on her. Are you sus- pecting me of anything?” Vanessa’s expression turned cold as she shrugged and spread her hands. “Mr. Powell, I’m a doctor, and I’m examining a patient. If you have any concerns, you may apply to check the surveince footage or bring it to the director.”

After saying this coldly, she turned to the nurse.

“The patient in Bed 38 has an infected wound. I’ll prescribe her some antibioticster.”

“Alright.” The nurse nodded.

Then Vanessa headed out.

Nathan was about to catch up with her.

Just then, Susanna grabbed his sleeve and exined through tears, “Nate, don’t me Vanessa. I copsed only be- cause I was too weak. It’s got nothing to do with her. I know she hates me for taking you away, and that’s why I’ve al- ways felt guilty toward her. But… Nate, I love you so much. I can’t help it…”

While saying this, she started to sob again.

Vanessa heard her every word loud and clear.

What a disgusting phony!

She almost wanted tough.

Susanna didn’t get to grab her because she reacted fast enough. Otherwise, Nathan would have thought she had harmed Susanna intentionally.

She bet Susanna had seen Nathaning before copsing back onto the bed. This was all part of Susanna’s scheme -deliberately reaching out and taking the chance to fall off the bed-to frame her in front of Nathan.

Fortunately, she had reacted in time.

She’d fallen for these same tricks too often since childhood.

Yet the ridiculous part was, no matter how petty those tricks were, Nathan would always believe Susanna uncondi- tionally. Just like this time, he fell for Susanna’s act and suspected her instinctively.

She couldn’t help but let out a derisiveugh. Love indeed made people blind. Shrewd as Nathan was, his love for Su- sanna had clouded his judgment, making him aplete fool.

She was so d she had reacted in time. If word got out that the famous Dr. Miracle harmed her patients, her career and reputation would be down the drain.

“Good. I’ll go take a look now,” she smiled heartily.

The VIP patient from Haverfield had been monitored in the ICU since the surgeryst night. The transfer proved the surgery to be a sess.

Over the years, saving patients had brought her profound happiness and fulfillment. Treating them had be her life’s purpose.

“Mr. Carroll, Mr. Barnard asked about you right after he hade around. It seems he indeed has high hopes for you.” Dwayne’s face was filled with pride.

The elevator doors opened.
