“Of course! Why would I lie? I have a photo of Evander–there’s no way I could be wrong.” Kathleen was full of confidence.

Seeing how sure she looked, Vanessa started to believe her a little. “It’s only been two or three days. Where did you meet Evander?”

“At the hospital, right outside Kurt’s room.” Kathleen cupped her cheeks in her hands, her face turning bright red as she recalled the ambiguous dinner she had with Evanderst night.

Vanessa cried out in surprise, “Kathleen, you must be mistaken. I’m Kurt’s attending physician, and I’m in his room every day, but I’ve never seen anyone named Evander. You met him? Are you sure you weren’t tricked?”

“No way, it’s absolutely true! I got the most reliable inside information -Evander has been at Eldencrest Medical Center these past few days. You haven’t seen him, but I have. That just means we’re fated to meet- he’s my type!” Kathleen dered with conviction, her face brimming with pride.

“Alright, then congrattions.” Vanessa knew Kathleen was well- informed, and seeing how certain she was, she didn’t doubt her anymore. She just smiled and asked, “So? Is Evander easy to win over?”

“Ha, that depends on who tries! For others, maybe not, but with my skills, he can’t escape my grasp. We just had a datest night, and this morning he already called to invite me out for karaoke tonight.” Kathleen stood up, clenched her little fists, and did a hip–shaking dance in front of Vanessa.

Vanessa couldn’t help butugh and cry at her antics. Still, if her good friend really had found her longed–for Evander, she was happy for her. After all, for a woman to marry for love was a beautiful thing.

Thinking of love, she suddenly thought of Nathan, and her mood inevitably sank.

“By the way, Kathleen, I’ve already moved out of the Powell’s vi. I’ll be staying at your ce for a while,” she said to Kathleen.

She couldn’t let her parents know about her n to divorce Nathan just yet. Otherwise, they would never allow her to go through with it. In their eyes, Nathan had always been the perfect son–inw, and her mother would never be able to handle such a blow.

Kathleen happened to swing her hips right in front of her, looked at herzily, and asked, “So, how many days are you nning to stay this time before you go back on your own?”

“No, this time, I will never go back. I’m going to divorce him,” Vanessa shook her head.

“Yeah, right,” Kathleen scoffed with disdain. “You say that every time, but within three days you always run back to him, clinging to him. Don’t I know you by now?”

“No, this time it’s really different. I’ve already signed the divorce papers,” Vanessa said anxiously, her tone serious.

Kathleen chuckled, “Really? Are you really willing to do it?”

“What’s there to be unwilling about? A scumbag like him isn’t worth my nostalgia. I’ve made up my mind,” Vanessa replied solemnly.

“Ha, then let’s see how determined you are this time. Honestly, if you really manage to dump that jerk Nathan, I’ll give you a warrior award, with a prize of a hundred thousand, not a penny less,” Kathleen

As they spoke, Kathleen’s phone rang.

She picked it up, her face instantly lighting up with delight as she went to answer the call.

Vanessa knew Kathleen didn’t really believe she would go through with the divorce. After all, in the past five years, she had left home in anger more times than she could count on two hands because of Nathan’s affairs with Susanna, but every time, she was the one who went back first.

She pressed her lips together. This time, she absolutely wouldn’t!

    The next day.

“Vanny, good morning.” As Vanessa was passing through the corridor on her way to Kurt’s hospital room, someone suddenly greeted her.

    She looked up.

She saw Evander leaning against a pir, giving her a mischievous, roguish grin.

“Why are you here again?” Vanessa felt a headacheing on as soon as she saw him. “Didn’t I tell youst night that I’ll call you next time there’s a job?”

“Hey, you pay me fifty thousand a day. If I don’t do something for it, I can’t take the money in good conscience. I’m an honest man,” he replied earnestly.
