The Master of Beasts
Chapter 438 - 83
CHAPTER 438: CHAPTER 83
Moya had sent information roughly detailing the location of the camp, its Commander, and the strength of its soldiers.
There was no record of exactly how many Asura prisoners there were, but that was to be expected. After all, the True Demon Clan ate humans and had no need for prisoners, who were merely reserve food supplies.
Anxiously, Chen Jiuge watched as another large True Demon Clan force arrived outside the forest, along with Yaksha Jing and Yue Jun’s troops.
During this time, the three forces even encountered each other. Fortunately, Moya arrived just in time to stop the True Demon Clan army, which had been intent on slaughtering everyone.
Squinting at the formidable army entering the valley, Moya said indifferently, "It seems they’re also afraid we’ll go back on our word!"
Rodan chimed in, "General, that’s only natural. We are the great True Demon Clan."
"Indeed. First, let us welcome the new Warriors and wash away the dust from their journey!" Moya laughed heartily.
"That was terrifying! I thought I was done for. Who would have thought the True Demon Clan would actually let us go?" Lin Dazhi exclaimed, his face covered in cold sweat.
Beside him, Yaksha He, despite his fierce appearance, also showed lingering fear. "If that True Demon Clan army had attacked, I’m afraid none of us would have escaped, right?"
"By the way, brother, what’s your name? I’m Yaksha He."
"Lin Dazhi. Brother He, we’ve truly been through life and death together now."
Under the threat of the Demon Clan, the two had united. Then, having inexplicably escaped death, their friendship formed almost unconsciously. After a casual chat, they discovered they were headed to the same destination, which brought them even closer.
Chen Jiuge stood on high ground, watching the influx of Yaksha Clan members and Myriad Beasts Sect Disciples, an unconscious smile spreading across his face.
Standing beside him, Mo Yu reminded, "Brother Chen, the Yaksha Clan’s strength has grown quite formidable."
Chen Jiuge’s smile faded as he said, "No matter. Let’s first deal with that camp. Rescuing those captive Asuras will also bolster our strength. Besides, the Elder mentioned that more Asuras will arrive in a few days to support us."
Moya did not look pleased at the sight of the new True Demon Clan army, because its Commander was Oriel.
On this battlefield, the True Demon Clan’s supreme commander was Oben, and the chief of staff was Ao Wen. Oriel was nominally here to support Moya, but as Oben’s nephew, Moya could not afford to ignore him.
"Hahaha, General Moya, my uncle speaks very highly of you! I didn’t expect that in such a short time, you would have eliminated so much prey. It seems there are geniuses among the Lower beings after all!" Oriel laughed insolently.
Dressed in dark red armor, with three Short Spears slung across his back and a multicolored gemstone sword hanging at his waist, Oriel, judging by appearance alone, looked more like the commander of this army than Moya did.
"Your praise is too generous, Young Lord," Moya said, his face devoid of expression.
Oriel ignored Moya’s expression, casually walked into the main tent, and flopped down onto the seat of honor.
He shifted his weight, then said with a look of disdain, "General Moya is truly frugal, isn’t he? Not even a few decorations."
Moya looked at Oriel expressionlessly and changed the subject. "Young Master Oriel, is there any official business for your visit this time?"
"Of course, there is, General Moya! You’re not from one of the great Families, so you wouldn’t understand my troubles. My elder cousin in the clan has been achieving great victories lately. As a member of the Ao Clan, I haven’t earned any merit myself. I’ll need General Moya to give me some pointers," Oriel said, shaking his body with theatrical exaggeration.
Seeing Moya remain unmoved, Oriel felt a surge of anger. He began rhythmically drumming his fingers on the armrest—a clear sign of his irritation.
The guard who had always been by Oriel’s side placed a hand on Oriel’s shoulder and said in a deep voice, "General Moya, if you help our young master achieve some merit, I can personally ensure your family is granted a good status."
"That’s right, that’s right!" Oriel chimed in, surprisingly heeding his guard’s words.
Moya’s expression wavered slightly. After all, even if I manage to drive Oriel away, another scion of a prominent Family will eventually come, and I definitely won’t be able to hold this position.
"Young Lord Oriel, your timing is perfect. I happen to have a report on enemy intelligence right here," Moya said with a light sigh, ultimately relenting.
Though arrogant, Oriel wasn’t foolish. After seeing the intelligence on the Savage Clan, he laughed heartily. "Hahaha, excellent, excellent! General Moya, lead your men and wipe them out directly! I’ll arrange for your family to reside within the territory of the Ao Clan."
"Thank you, Young Master."
「A few days later.」
Chen Jiuge had not received any secret messages from Moya in the past few days. Seeing the True Demon Clan mobilizing in force, he couldn’t help but frown. What does this mean?
During their previous cooperation, both sides would notify each other before making any moves to avoid friendly fire.
Little Black quickly materialized from the shadows and, perching on Chen Jiuge’s shoulder, whispered something to him.
So that’s what’s going on, Chen Jiuge thought.
The True Demon Clan’s movements could not be hidden from Yaksha Jing and Yue Jun’s perception. After finding Chen Jiuge, Yaksha Jing spoke up, "Brother Chen, is it time for us to make a move now?"
"We can, but we must wait until after the True Demon Clan has departed."
At the very last moment before leaving the forest, Moya turned his head, a complicated expression on his face as he glanced back at the trees. He murmured, "I wonder if there will be another chance to cooperate?"
"What’s wrong, General Moya? Could it be that you’re reluctant to leave?" Witte, Oriel’s guard, teased with a smile.
Moya dared not underestimate this man. He appeared to be just a guard, yet he dared to make promises on Oriel’s behalf, indicating his position was far from simple.
"It’s nothing. It’s just a bit of a pity... this camp was only recently established," Moya said, shaking his head.
