The Master of Beasts
Chapter 58 - Fame Spreads Far and Wide in Eden Garden
CHAPTER 58: CHAPTER 58 - FAME SPREADS FAR AND WIDE IN EDEN GARDEN
Refining the Purple Blood Daoist Soldier was by no means an easy task. Even dedicating a whole day to it would yield at most a few, and this was only possible because of the High Rank Healing Pills left by his Master.
Because his Cultivation was not sufficient to venture outside, Chen Jiuge wasn’t particularly in a hurry. He only refined one Daoist Soldier each day, but he did drip a drop of his essence blood daily, greatly stimulating the progress of his cultivation of the Green Vine Immortal Body, increasing his recovery capabilities considerably—a blessing in disguise, really.
BOOM!
As War Song collapsed powerlessly, Chen Jiuge looked at the Purple Blood Daoist Soldier, which only had some scratches on its surface, and said with satisfaction, "It’s well worth the resources I’ve spent. Even a late-stage Nascent Soul cultivator would probably not be its match."
Of course, by ’ordinary,’ he meant the Loose Cultivators with no sect affiliation.
The Purple Blood Daoist Soldier was a Body Refinement Daoist Soldier, specifically adept at offense and defense, so this level of strength was to be expected.
"I’m not convinced," War Song said sullenly.
As Chen Jiuge’s top combatant, War Song’s strength had always been commendable. However, due to the comfortable living environment, he lacked experience in life-or-death battles, which indeed made him fall short in combat experience.
"There’s nothing to be unconvinced about. It’s normal for you all to lack fighting experience since you’ve been with me in such a comfortable setting. Moving forward, I’ll assign a Daoist Soldier to each of you," Chen Jiuge said sternly to the Spiritual Beasts who were watching.
"Especially you." Looking at Yue Meng who wanted to retort, Chen Jiuge said sternly, "Yue Meng, I asked you to focus on learning Alchemy. In thirty years, you’ve only become a First Rank Alchemist. As a Moon Rabbit, you shouldn’t even need to learn that."
"I..." Exposed, Yue Meng looked away, somewhat embarrassed.
"I’ll give you another chance. In three months, I will personally check. If you haven’t become a Second Rank Alchemist by then, you’ll be the same as them," Chen Jiuge declared his ultimatum, not sparing another look at Yue Meng, whose rabbit face had collapsed.
While Chen Jiuge was arranging training plans for his Spiritual Beasts, the reputation concerning Eden Garden was spreading rapidly outside.
It started when Zhu Yinghuang overheard a disciple from Vermilion Bird Peak remarking if making a Contract with a Flame Demon was a foolish decision, which infuriated Zhu Yinghuang. Using a Flame Demon of Third Rank Cultivation, Zhu Yinghuang dueled that disciple.
The disciple was from the Chen Family; while not a top-tier family like the Zhu Family, they were still considered a second-tier family, with his Cultivation exactly at the Returning to Void Realm, having just made a Contract with a Divine Fire Steed with Golden Crow Bloodline.
The Divine Fire Steed, possessing the Golden Crow Bloodline, was not weak in terms of combat power among its peers, and everyone thought that Zhu Yinghuang, the Young Master of the Zhu Family, was set to be humiliated.
Initially, it was just as the onlooking disciples had thought—with little combat experience, the small Flame Demon was no match for the Divine Fire Steed, and it would have lost quickly if not for its resilient constitution.
Covered in scars, the small Flame Demon looked back at Zhu Yinghuang, whose face was full of worry, reminiscing about the happy days they had spent together recently—the happiest time in the Flame Demon’s life since birth.
It stood up again and, facing the Divine Fire Steed that was arrogantly lifting its head, let out an angry roar. Provoked, the Divine Fire Steed naturally did not pamper its "prospective loser."
Its body’s Spiritual Power continuously gathered at the glowing red horn on its head, and the rapidly climbing heat was enough to make anyone’s throat go dry.
The dry patterns on the small Flame Demon’s body began to light up, and Molten Rock slowly flowed over its body.
SIZZLE...
ROAR! ROAR!
Upon their collision, powerful Spiritual Energy dissipated in all directions, the red Fire Spirit Energy obscuring the center of the battlefield.
Even so, the disciples watching the battle were at least of Nascent Soul Cultivation, so they could still clearly see what was happening at the very center.
"How is that possible? A Sixth Rank Flame Demon actually defeated the Divine Fire Steed?"
"What Sixth Rank? That’s clearly a Seventh Rank Mutant Flame Demon. I always knew Senior Brother Zhu had good discernment; he wouldn’t choose a regular Flame Demon."
"So what if it’s a Mutant Flame Demon? The Divine Fire Steed has a Golden Crow Bloodline. As long as it’s activated, its Spiritual Fire will increase significantly in power, something a regular Spiritual Beast like the Flame Demon can’t withstand."
"Aren’t you from our Myriad Beasts Sect? Don’t you know that Mutant Spiritual Beasts have unlimited potential? Ignorant, I’m ashamed to be associated with you."
The external commotion couldn’t disturb the delighted Zhu Yinghuang, who watched as the badly injured little Flame Demon fiercely roared. Zhu Yinghuang immediately climbed onto the stage and hugged it, joyfully exclaiming, "Little Three, you were truly amazing."
Feeling initially elated, the little Flame Demon fainted outright upon hearing its name. I’d rather be destroyed.
Seeing his pet "Little Three" faint, Zhu Yinghuang, in a state of panic, fed it a large amount of High Rank Healing Pills until a hand grabbed his own, finally stopping his actions.
Looking up curiously at the owner of the hand, Zhu Yinghuang asked discontentedly, "Little Sister, what are you doing? Didn’t you see Little Three fainted?"
"Kid, if you keep feeding it, your Little Three will explode and die," the Fire Qilin beside Zhu Yingque said with a roll of its eyes.
"Big Brother, I have something to ask you. Let’s find a quiet place," Zhu Yingque said calmly.
He knew his little sister had always looked down on him. It was manageable when her Cultivation was lower. However, ever since she returned with the Fire Qilin and her Cultivation broke through to the Returning to Void Realm, her disrespect had only increased. If she didn’t still call him ’Big Brother,’ others might think he was her younger brother.
"Little Sister, what is it? Tell me." Although his little sister lacked respect for him as an older brother, Zhu Yinghuang still cared a lot about her.
"The Third Elder of the Hundred Herbs Peak recently accepted a new disciple named Chen Jiuge, the one who sold you this Flame Demon. It is said he was taken as a Direct Disciple because he has a Fire Qilin with an extremely pure Bloodline."
"I checked, and Chen Jiuge was also at the Mo Qilin Immortal City’s Secret Realm over thirty years ago. I want Big Brother to take me there," Zhu Yingque said, her face expressionless but her heart not quite convinced. She already had a Contract with a Fire Qilin, so why had there emerged another Fire Qilin with an even purer Bloodline?
Understanding his little sister well, Zhu Yinghuang reluctantly said, "I can introduce you and take you there, but you must not throw a fit. It’s Brother Chen’s own opportunity, Little Sister, we shouldn’t act like villains."
"Who’s acting like a villain? I just want to see if it’s true. Also, you should read fewer of those nonsensical mortal storybooks," Zhu Yingque replied defensively.
"Good, as long as you’re not. I was just telling you how interesting Brother Chen is." Zhu Yinghuang hadn’t finished speaking when he saw his little sister turn and walk away, leaving behind the words,
"Three days later."
"Really, she’s grown up and not cute at all anymore. She was so adorable when she was little, damn it," Zhu Yinghuang muttered in annoyance.
The skirmish between Zhu Yinghuang and the disciples from Vermilion Bird Peak had made the little Flame Demon famous and thus also brought Eden Garden into the limelight, consequently exposing Chen Jiuge as well.
Chen Family, with a True Immortal in residence, belonged to a third-tier family, not fully a vassal force of the Myriad Beasts Sect. Having been accepted by the Third Elder of the Hundred Herbs Peak, he is currently a Direct Disciple there, with his Cultivation approximately at the mid-stage of Nascent Soul.
The Inner Sect Disciples reading this information were quite envious of Chen Jiuge, having managed to take a Heavenly Immortal Elder as a mentor; he had indeed stepped on incredible luck.
