The Mighty Mage
Chapter 635: Court Hearing
CHAPTER 635: CHAPTER 635: COURT HEARING
Just as only a few days were left before Gu Jin and Long Yifan finished their trial period, Lady Ling appeared in front of them.
Her white robe fluttered even though there was no wind.
Her face was calm, but her eyes were sharp as she stared at the two of them.
Gu Jin and Long Yifan immediately stopped their work and straightened their backs.
Lady Ling looked at them for a long time before nodding. "I finally have a vision," she said.
Both Gu Jin and Long Yifan froze.
Their hearts pounded as they looked at each other.
Even their hands trembled slightly, though they tried to hide it.
"What did you see?" Long Yifan asked, his voice steady but filled with anticipation.
Gu Jin’s red eyes narrowed slightly.
She felt excitement inside her again, emotions she thought she had buried long ago.
Over the past few months, she had realized something important.
If she gave up her emotions, then she would lose her sense of justice too.
That was exactly what the so-called gods had wanted when they punished her.
But now... now she understood. She could not let go of her emotions. She had to learn to balance them.
Even though she had promised never to return to the world of the gods, she still wanted to keep her heart alive for the sake of the people who needed true justice.
Lady Ling finally spoke again, her voice calm but powerful.
"The necromancy element is about to rise. It will not remain cursed forever. Instead, it will become the pinnacle and will unlock the hidden potential of mages. This is the vision I saw."
For a moment, the atmosphere turned still, and both Long Yifan and Gu Jin gasped.
What does that mean?
To receive such praise from Lady Ling meant that the element was a huge boon to the mage world!
And their claims could finally be proven true!
Long Yifan’s lips curved into a wide grin.
"Did you hear that, Gu Jin? Necromancy will no longer be a sin. It will be the future."
Gu Jin’s clenched fists slowly loosened.
She let out a small breath she didn’t realize she had been holding.
A faint, rare smile tugged at her lips.
"So... necromancers will finally have a place," she said softly.
Lady Ling gave a single nod. "Tomorrow, I will announce this myself."
The next day, Lady Ling appeared in the grand magic courtroom.
Gu Jin and Long Yifan stood beside her.
The room was filled with judges, witnesses, and mages.
The air was heavy, every person waiting for what Lady Ling was going to say.
She was known as the Guardian of the Gods. Everyone knew she would never lie.
Lady Ling’s calm voice echoed through the hall.
"The necromancy element will soon rise to the pinnacle of magic. It is not a curse. It is a blessing. Necromancers will no longer be executed. Instead, they will be honored."
Her words were like thunder.
The audience gasped loudly. Murmurs spread like wildfire.
"Impossible!" Arnold bellowed, his face turned red from rage.
From his childhood memories he was sure... no... convinced that necromancy element can be good!
"Did she just say necromancy is a blessing?" another mage asked, his eyes wide.
But no one could deny Lady Ling’s words. She had never spoken falsely in her life.
Neither power, nor influence, nor wealth could sway her! Such was her power and position!
Just a few months before, she had reached Saint Stage 4! A stage that has never been achieved by the entire mage world!
Judge Hargrave, who sat in the highest seat, closed his eyes and sighed deeply.
When he opened them again, he looked at Gu Jin with respect.
"A year has passed," he said slowly. "And within this year, the world has changed. Very well. From this day forward, necromancers will not be executed. Instead, they will be cherished and respected."
Gasps filled the room again.
Judge Hargrave raised his hand, his voice echoing across the courtroom.
"Furthermore, because of the cruel prejudice necromancers have suffered, compensation will be given. Those who killed necromancers unjustly will be punished. Many will serve time in prison for their crimes."
The audience was in uproar. Some mages shouted angrily, while others nodded in agreement.
Among the audience, Liang Bao coughed suddenly, covering her mouth with her hand. Lu Siyao quickly patted her back, her eyes filled with worry.
Gu Jin, hearing all of this, finally felt a heavy stone lift from her chest.
She closed her eyes and let out a breath of relief.
Long Yifan reached out and patted her hand gently. His blue eyes sparkled with warmth.
"See?" he whispered. "Your path of justice won."
Gu Jin glanced at him, her lips twitching into a faint smile.
After the hearing ended, Long Yifan pulled Gu Jin aside.
With a wave of his hand, a thick folder appeared. He handed it to her without a word.
Gu Jin opened it, her red eyes scanning the pages. Then, her breath caught.
Inside the folder was documentation.
Proof that Black Rose, the organization that had once tormented her and taken so much, had been completely destroyed.
Every member was wiped out. The ones who killed Liang Bao’s parents were also gone.
Gu Jin’s hands trembled as she held the folder.
Slowly, she lifted her gaze and stared at Long Yifan with deep, unreadable eyes.
"Thank you," she whispered softly.
Long Yifan grinned. "It’s nothing. Think of it as a gift from me."
"Gift? For what?" Gu Jin was confused.
"A gift from your future hubby to Liang Bao." Long Yifan said with a smug smile, her eyes glinting with pride.
Gu Jin rolled her eyes. "Whatever."
Just then, Liang Bao and Lu Siyao walked out of the courtroom.
They saw Gu Jin and Long Yifan smiling at each other and immediately rolled their eyes.
Lu Siyao put on a pitiful expression and called out,
"Jin, it’s been so long since we spent time together. Why don’t you come on a little outing with us?"
Gu Jin chuckled at her playful tone. "Maybe."
But before she could say more, Liang Bao suddenly froze.
She turned toward Gu Jin, her eyes trembling.
"Jin... did you... did you advance?"
Gu Jin nodded calmly. "Yes. I am at Transcendental Stage 7 now."
Both Liang Bao and Lu Siyao were stunned. Their jaws dropped.
"What?!" Lu Siyao gasped. "Stage 7? That’s a level most mages will never reach in their entire life!"
Gu Jin crossed her arms, her eyes calm. "It’s thanks to the resources Lady Ling provided."
Envy and joy flashed in their eyes. Liang Bao muttered, "I want to be part of a mighty mage couple too..."
Gu Jin smirked and passed the folder in her hand to Liang Bao.
"Here. Look at this. It’s a gift from Long Yifan."
Liang Bao frowned, confused, but took the folder anyway. She opened it, and her whole body froze.
Her eyes widened, and her lips trembled.
She rubbed her eyes again and again, as if she couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
Taking a deep breath, she looked at Gu Jin with tears welling in her eyes.
"Is this true?" she whispered, her voice shaking.
Gu Jin nodded firmly. "Yes."
Liang Bao’s tears spilled down her cheeks. She clutched the folder to her chest and sobbed.
"Finally... finally they are avenged. My father and mother... they can rest in peace now."
She repeated those words again and again, her sobs echoing through the hall.
Gu Jin’s own eyes softened. Her heart ached as she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Liang Bao.
"It’s alright," Gu Jin whispered. "They are at peace now. They can smile in heaven."
Liang Bao nodded through her tears, clinging tightly to Gu Jin.
Lu Siyao quickly joined, hugging Liang Bao from the other side. "Don’t cry too much," she said gently.
"If you keep crying, your parents will be sad. They want you to be happy."
Liang Bao sniffled, then gave a shaky laugh. "You’re right. I won’t be sad anymore."
Both Gu Jin and Lu Siyao let out sighs of relief.
But then, Lu Siyao tilted her head and whispered, "So... you won’t carry out the plan?"
Gu Jin’s sharp ears caught that. Her red eyes narrowed as she raised an eyebrow.
"What plan?"
Lu Siyao quickly grinned and waved her hand. "Oh, nothing important."
Liang Bao shook her head firmly. "No. I won’t continue the plan. Not after this."
Lu Siyao pouted dramatically. "You’re such a party pooper."
The three of them laughed lightly, the heavy tension finally fading away.
Gu Jin looked at them and felt warmth bloom in her chest.
And Long Yifan, watching from the side, smiled silently. For him, this was enough.
As long as Gu Jin was happy and could feel emotions... he could be rest assured and feel that he was useful.
Just then he felt a piercing gaze and looked in the direction from where he had felt it.
