CHAPTER 242: CHAPTER 140: BANQUET BODYGUARD
"I’ve already explained; it was just a fan who looked quite familiar," at 5 o’clock in the morning, in a private residence in Qinyang City, Lu Yimo held a bottle of chilled beer and leaned back on the sofa in the presidential suite.
After the concert, Lu Yimo declined invitations to a celebratory feast from the band members and organizers. This was consistent with his nature; besides work-related collaborations, Lu Yimo always guarded his private life and work with strict confidentiality.
Lu Yimo looked out the window, a neutral expression on his profile, signifying he didn’t want to dwell on the issue anymore.
Xiu Na’s discontent gradually faded away. She had just been overly excited and forgotten that Yimo had encountered several accidents one after another. Compared to bickering over nothing here, showing proper care was more likely to capture his heart.
During the four years with Lu Yimo, numerous fans and various celebrities had thrown themselves at him, yet Lu Yimo had never been moved. Xiu Na cared because there had never been a fan who could sing that song with such affectionate eyes.
That song was Lu Yimo’s debut track. He could sing it to thousands of fans, but he would never sing it affectionately to just one fan, not even to her, Xiu Na.
"Xiu Na, not every woman can accept my past, and in this world, you are the only one," Lu Yimo said somberly. After hearing this, Xiu Na curled up in his arms, smelling the blend of mint and alcohol on his body. Unlike other men, Lu Yimo’s scent was very clean.
"Yimo, we need to improve security. The local police force is useless, and your twenty-seventh birthday is coming up. We’re hosting a birthday party in Qinyang. What are your plans for security?" With Lu Yimo’s reassurance, Xiu Na regained her composure, assuming her capable assistant role.
"Security? Since you say the police are unreliable, let’s get the military involved. Accept Brigadier General Ding’s invitation to his daughter’s birthday party on behalf of the Rand Military," Lu Yimo finished his beer and tossed the bottle aside.
"The military? Haven’t you always disliked contact with military personnel?" Xiu Na pulled up the schedule for ’Death Track.’ Essentially, the so-called ’Death Track’ was solely Lu Yimo’s schedule—he was the soul of the band.
"Xiu Na, that was before. Now, I don’t dislike them anymore. On the contrary, I can’t wait to meet these so-called top military officials. I want to express all their filthiness in my singing," Lu Yimo laughed, like a hellish black lotus, beautiful yet evil.
"Yimo, are you okay?" Xiu Na shivered. Since the concert ended, she felt that Yimo had changed.
"I’m fine, Xiu Na. Go get some rest; you must be exhausted. Also, cancel the therapy session this afternoon. I no longer need to see him," Lu Yimo stood up and walked to the window.
"Okay, but don’t forget to take your medicine," Xiu Na took out a bottle of liquid medicine and placed it on the bar.
Dawn, the darkest time of the day, was finally passing.
Lu Yimo gently touched his lips, thinking of the woman with the purple butterfly on her face, softly speaking, "Ling, don’t you remember me?"
A few rays of sunlight landed on the windowsill of the old apartment. When Xia You pulled back the curtains, the slightly cold winter air squeezed in through the gap, fogging up the glass with frost—the harsh winter season was approaching.
When she entered the living room, Mo Xixi’s room was still quiet, her eyes slightly red from only two or three hours of sleep.
"Shoot, I was so groggy yesterday; I didn’t even have a chance to tell Klaao that my trip would be delayed by a few days," Xia You rubbed her eyes, overwhelmed by everything that happened last night that made her fall into a drowsy sleep upon reaching Mo Xixi’s house.
She had previously arranged with Klaao to wait for her in the inn for a few days, approximately a day in real life, but now she had forgotten all about it.
"Morning, Xiao You, what are you doing with your phone so early? Checking to see if Ren has called?" Mo Xixi saw Xia You zoning out with her mobile and snatched it away from her.
After checking, her expression was even more disappointed than Xia You’s, "He hasn’t called or texted at all. Sigh, indeed, men as talented and passionate as Lu Yimo are extinct in this world."
