The Military Queen
Chapter 58 - 49: Longzhi Military Academy
CHAPTER 58: CHAPTER 49: LONGZHI MILITARY ACADEMY
Xia You took two days off with Lin Yi’s permission to prepare for the military training at Longzhi Military Academy. To avoid Xia Yun’s suspicion, she continued to go out to work at the same time during the next two days. However, she did not wait at the military bus station like she did on the first day but took a civilian bus in Bazhou City to reach the Bazhou Library located in the city center of Bazhou City.
The City Library had a massive collection of books and materials. Xia You was no longer a university student and couldn’t enjoy the convenience of her alma mater’s library, so she had to borrow some appropriate books here.
"The Five Emperors of Ancient Times," Xia You took down a book from the shelf; she did not have much research on the ancient history of Hua Country. Unlike Tushan Nujiao, Yu was a wise emperor who could be counted in human history. She was not sure she could persuade Yu, who had the world in his heart, to return home using the colloquial language of Tushan Nujiao.
If Little Eight was right, besides the unpredictable Sub-God Space, the main battlefield of "Military Road" would follow the development of human history. Although it was unknown which domain the next main battlefield would jump into, and whether it would continue to stay within the scope of Hua Country’s history, borrowing a few history-related books was definitely right.
Xia You walked around but couldn’t find the world civilization history she needed. She went to the library’s computer and was about to press the search button when she noticed that the book search page still displayed the traces left by the previous reader: "World Civilization History."
After searching, Xia You found that all the books related to world history in the City Library had been borrowed out during the last two days. From the extended search, it was evident that someone had also borrowed books on the history of world weapons and a series of other books.
The situation became somewhat subtle; since when had there been so many enthusiasts of world history in Bazhou City. Xia You cleared the search traces left on the computer and, after finding another bookshelf, took a seat near a window.
"Legends of the Ancient Emperors: Shun (said to be a wise monarch of ancient times, later generally referred to as a sage). Shun was famously filial because he adhered to filial piety despite being mistreated and persecuted by his parents and was acclaimed in his youth..." The book also included accounts of Shun’s filial acts. As for Yu, he wasn’t the focus of Xia You’s attention.
After briefly consulting the book, Xia You opened a college recruitment brochure that was placed prominently on the first page, with the name "Longzhi Academy" strikingly in view.
"Longzhi Academy is the second largest military academy in Hua Country, located in the famous scenic area of Longzhi Mountain, about 500 kilometers from Bazhou City. The campus covers an area of 5,000 acres and has multiple training bases. The founding principle of Longzhi is ’National interest above all, the mission of a soldier is to sacrifice.’"
The academy was the most historically significant military academy in Hua Country, having provided many outstanding talents for Hua Country’s military since its establishment. Xia You quickly read through the introduction, which was all factual data, and her understanding of Longzhi Academy remained the same as the earliest information she obtained after returning to Hua Country to fill out her university choices.
The narrative in this college recruitment brochure was about the same as what she knew then. As a returned overseas Chinese, she didn’t fit into the recruitment scope of Longzhi, and with her mother Xia Yun’s opposition, Xia You’s plan to apply there with her excellent scores from the unified college entrance exam was shelved.
She didn’t expect that, four years later, she would be entering Longzhi Academy as a new college student, which involved a bit of serendipity and coincidence.
"Classmate, could you lend me this book?" A polite voice came from beside Xia You.
Having already graduated, being mistaken for a current student, Xia You didn’t know whether to consider herself lucky or unlucky.
Sitting in a corner of the library, facing the window, Xia You wore a simple white t-shirt and a tied blue short skirt, her hair casually tied into a ponytail. From the side, her face was free of greasy makeup, her black eyebrows and clear skin made it unsurprising that she was mistaken for a student, with a recruitment brochure on the table.
Xia You noticed a crease on the recruitment brochure. Standing in front of her was a young man in his early twenties, dressed in a Purple Gold Dynasty basketball uniform, tall and with long limbs, his features combined into an attractive face, approximately 1.85 meters tall. His skin was sun-tanned but not in a way that looked unkempt.
Xia You didn’t expect to find any extra information from an ordinary recruitment brochure and handed it over. Previously, she was only focused on finding books, and when she turned her face towards him, he hadn’t yet seen the full appearance of the girl reading.
The man was tall, and from that angle, he could only clearly see Xia You’s attire. A white V-neck t-shirt and a floral short skirt—a simple outfit. In his school, any female student’s outfit after class would be more eye-catching than hers. But this particular student had a beauty that was hard to look away from. He involuntarily shifted his gaze downwards, drawn by the faint glimpse of her collarbone, and beyond that, her slender legs hidden under the table.
"Thank you," the young man’s voice unintentionally softened a bit. He took the book and then disappeared behind a bookshelf, followed by the sound of flipping pages.
Xia You didn’t find the resources she needed, feeling somewhat disappointed, it seemed she would have to visit a bookstore and purchase a few books. As she stood up, the man just walked out from behind the shelf, holding the book, and paused again when he saw Xia You getting up.
Viewing her from the side, Xia You could only be considered a neatly looking female student. However, when her whole face was put together, her eyes remained her eyes, her lips remained her lips, yet they looked completely different.
Xia You had delicate features, lively eyes, a slightly protruding nose, and a slight smile—all these features combined unexpectedly gave her face an air of sophistication.
After she walked away, the man still hadn’t recovered. He went over to the spot where Xia You had been sitting and sat down.
The warmth from the female student lingered on the chair, climbing on the young man’s skin, heating up his nerves.
The cellphone in his pocket vibrated; he pulled out his phone, which wasn’t a common model but a satellite phone.
As he pressed the call button, he first complained, "Brother, stop calling me all the time, I’ve already decided to stay and teach at the school," his gaze still on the recruitment details, the turned page prominently displaying "Longzhi Military Academy" in bold letters.
