The Military Queen

CHAPTER 88: CHAPTER 71: BABYLON LIGHT
"Enter ’Military Road’?" The computer screen flickered with the system login prompt, the woman’s hand lingered on the desktop, hesitating whether to click through.
The case of the computer was elegantly white, to some extent also reflecting some of the user’s characteristics.
"Entering the game behind Lin Yi’s back, I wonder what his reaction would be?" the woman hesitated, her beautiful eyebrows knit together, her lips lightly bitten. "But apart from the half hour each night, I no longer have any opportunity to be with Lin Yi."
The woman sighed; ever since Lin Yi mentioned that he would soon enter "Military Road" to experience it, she had been hesitant.
"Qian Qian?" The door opened soundlessly, Saint Father David walked in; in Hua Country, only a handful have truly seen the Saint Father himself.
This man, who holds great influence in Hua Country and the world, was of average build, roughly 1.75 meters tall, wearing a Greek-style white casual outfit.
Everyone who has seen the Saint Father, has this very conflicting psychology. His face, untouched by time and age, seemed like twenty, thirty, and forty all at once. Flawless features, a pair of rimless glasses perched on his nose, his eyes always flickering with a tolerant luster.
Despite the many legends of miracles associated with Saint Father David outside, Saint Father David himself never mentions those he has helped. He tries to minimize his public appearances, and his involvement in some affairs of the state. The more he does so, the more the legends about him circulate.
Qian Qian has been raised by the Holy Father since she was a child, but every time she sees the Holy Father, she can’t help but lower her head. When facing Lin Yi, she would also lower her head; she needs to hide her blushing cheeks and disordered breathing. But in the presence of the Holy Father, she must lower her head too, Holy Father always made her feel like she dare not look directly, fearing that with a slight shift of her gaze, the beautiful scene before her eyes would disappear into thin air.
"Holy Father," Qian Qian, the Holy Daughter, performed a bow with her arms embraced. This was the most common greeting in the David Sect. Hands clasped together in front and chin inclined downward.
"Qian Qian, I heard from the bishop that recently you have been quite close to a certain military officer in the military region," the voice of Saint Father David carried not a hint of reproach.
"Holy Father!" Qian Qian, panicked, immediately knelt down. The Holy Daughters of the David Sect were historically symbols of chastity; they should not be affected by excess emotional fluctuations or the filthy and unclean feelings of romantic relationships.
The bishop’s odd and threatening manner did not make Qian Qian retreat, but if even the Holy Father blamed her, then both she and Lin Yi would face a disastrous demise.
"Qian Qian," the hands of Saint Father David emerged from his wide robe and rested on Qian Qian’s shoulders. Those hands, even the hair on them was white. Yes, Saint Father David, dressed in a white robe and wearing rimless glasses, was a man pure and unblemished. His shoulder-length hair, could reflect the inner gaze of all his followers, even his eyelashes were white.
The only other color on Saint Father David was his lips, near white in their red. Such whiteness on anyone else would have been a sign of albinism, but on a man who had performed countless miracles, it was a sign of God’s favor. No worldly dirt should sully him.
Qian Qian raised her head, looking at Saint Father David. Through the eyes of her beloved Holy Father, she felt so sullied.
"I’ll never contact him again," Qian Qian murmured as if under a spell, her eyes, her pupils, only held the celestial visage of the Holy Father. The hesitation in her mind, and Lin Yi’s face, along with it disappeared.
"Good child, you should go do what you are supposed to do," Saint Father David caressed Qian Qian’s hair, his gaze falling upon the computer, where the "Military Road" login prompt was still blinking.
The constantly flickering neon lights of Babylon City signalled the start of a lively weekend night, while the hustle and bustle of the Xia Family had just subsided.
Under Mo Xixi’s silver-tongued explanations, Xia Yun barely believed that Xia You’s outrageously short hairstyle was this season’s trend. Xiao Maiqi quickly accepted Xia You’s new hairstyle, complaining about the prickliness while incessantly playing with her hair on her head.
After nightfall, having coaxed Maggie to sleep, Xia Yun walked outside Xia You’s room, hesitated a few steps, listening to the sound inside the room, it was eerily quiet, "Xiao You? Have you gone to bed?" There was no response from the room, Xia Yun sighed and walked downstairs.
