CHAPTER 307: THE KING RECEIVES THE GREATEST BLESSING (I)

Primrose knew that for nobles, sharing the same bedroom was almost unheard of. Most preferred their own space, their own privacy, and hated the thought of having their sleep disturbed.

But for her, it was different. Primrose didn’t feel the need for that much privacy. What she wanted most was to stay close to her husband because she loved his presence too much, and on days when she couldn’t see his face, she always felt a little sad and empty inside.

Besides, it was pointless for them to even have separate bedrooms when Edmund had already filled her chamber with so many spying devices.

"If you think my room’s too small, we can move to yours," she offered gently, sitting up and tilting her head when he still didn’t respond. "Or ... do you not want to share a room with me?"

She tried to sound casual, but there was a flicker of vulnerability in her voice.

Then, after waiting for a few minutes, she finally got her answer.

He didn’t respond with words, but with the sudden screaming inside his head.

[MY WIFE WANTS TO SHARE A BEDROOM WITH ME?!]

[M-My wife wants to be with me all the time?!]

[What kind of good deeds did I do this week to be blessed like this?!]

Primrose’s eyes widened as Edmund suddenly sat up straight and grabbed her hands tightly. "I want to sleep with you forever, my wife!"

He blurted it out so quickly and firmly, as if he didn’t want to leave even the smallest chance for her to think he would reject her offer.

If he had rejected it, that would have been a sign that the apocalypse was about to begin.

That comparison was far too dramatic, but it perfectly described Edmund. In other words, the chances of her husband refusing to share a bedroom with her were zero.

"But my bedroom might be too small for both of us." Edmund quickly added before Primrose could say anything. "I can ask the builders to create a new one for us, and I’ll make sure it’s two times larger than my current room."

Primrose blinked several times, trying to process his words because he spoke too fast.

[I need to make sure there’s enough space for her vanity table, so she can get ready more comfortably. Or ... maybe I should ask the builders to design a walk-in closet big enough for all her beauty products.]

[What color should we use for the new bedroom? Maybe light green? My wife loves that color ... or maybe she wants something else?]

"Edmund," Primrose softly called his name, snapping him out of his whirlwind of thoughts. "I think your current chamber is already big enough for both of us."

The Queen’s chamber, which Primrose occupied now, was already spacious, but the King’s chamber was nearly twice as large and was, in fact, the biggest bedroom in the entire palace.

Even if Primrose moved into his chamber, there would still be more than enough room for all her belongings, especially since Edmund didn’t keep that many things in his chamber anyway.

Therefore, she thought building a new bedroom would be unnecessary.

"But that bedroom is mine," Edmund replied seriously. "Not ours."

He gave her hands a gentle pat and added, "I believe a bedroom is the most sacred place for a person. It’s where you rest, where you’re most vulnerable, where you let go of everything and just ... be yourself."

His icy-blue eyes softened as he looked at her. "That’s why I want that sacred place to be ours, not just mine. I want every corner of that room to be built for you and me, filled with new memories that belong to us. A place where you’ll always feel safe, where no one can disturb you, and where I can hold you close every night."

[Besides, this might be a good chance to add soundproofing to the room, so that during storms, my wife won’t have to hear the thunder outside.]

Oh ... Primrose hadn’t expected him to still remember her fear of thunderstorms.

In truth, his bedroom was already quite soundproof, but ... just as he had said, that room belonged to him, not to both of them.

Primrose lifted her gaze, her lips curling into a soft smile. "Then let’s do it," she said gently. "Let’s build our new bedroom. But I want you to add something you like too, not just the things I like."

Knowing her husband, Primrose was certain he only ever thought about what would make her happy, what would make life easier for her. But when it came to his own preferences, Edmund’s mind always seemed to go completely blank, as if the thought had never even crossed him.

Edmund blinked at her, his lips parting slightly. "Something I like ...?" he repeated, almost as if the words were strange to him. For a moment, he just stared, his icy-blue eyes filled with genuine confusion.

[I don’t think I’ve ever had any special wishes for my bedroom,] Edmund thought. [Even my current chamber used to be the late king’s room. When I moved in, it was already arranged that way.]

Primrose frowned lightly. Hadn’t he just said earlier that a bedroom was meant to be a sacred space for someone? Then why had he chosen to sleep in the old king’s chamber?

Did that belief only apply to her, but not to him?

"What color do you like?" Primrose asked softly. "Except ... gray or black."

Edmund’s eyes locked onto hers for a moment before he spoke in a quiet voice. "... Golden."

Primrose let out a soft sigh. Wasn’t that the color of her eyes? What about the colors he liked before he met her?

She wasn’t even sure if he actually liked gray or black. Yes, he wore those colors all the time, but maybe it was only because they were neutral and easy to find.

He had never even once said he liked those colors.

Honestly, had he ever liked anything at all before they met? Why did he act like he had no favorites, aside from training his body or sharpening his combat skills?

Oh ... well, those could count as things he liked too.
