CHAPTER 21: ALMOST A MILLIONAIRE. (2/2)
"Congratulations, man."
Jim was the first one to congratulate him, while Grace and Melissa looked a bit impressed with the amount they were hearing.
"Yeah, thanks. Then I got another hundred seventy from selling microwaves last month—cash—and Amazon paid another hundred seventy in Bitcoin. So yeah, it’s been a nice year, I’d say."

Nice, but we can’t do it too much; we have to take it slowly.
Chris smoothly took the knife and, blowing out the candle, sliced a piece amid the birthday song people were singing.
Taking the first piece, he gently fed it to Melissa—his sister turned mother figure. Her eyes went moist in a heartbeat, lips pouting like a little duck.
"Stop being so dramatic."
Shoving the cake in her mouth gently, he sliced another one for Grace, who was waiting on his left for her turn. When he turned to her, she had that cheeky smile on her face, which bothered him a little, but he continued anyway.
After that, Marsha took the cake inside the kitchen to slice it evenly for everyone present while the crowd dispersed from the table side; some formed a circle of their own as Jim gestured Chris towards himself for a talk.
"Hey, Bud, How was the cake?"
"It was good, thanks, man."
"Don’t worry about it; you see the car I put it in?"
"I definitely saw the car you put in the middle of the cake—the one that can’t be eaten."
"Yes, I think you deserve a sports car, man."
"You know what, Jim? I will sell that Mazda to you for thirteen.
Jim looked flabbergasted; he was hoping he could buy it for $15,000, but Chris suddenly lowered it just because of the cake. A confident smile crept up on his face.
"You will?"
"Yep, I will, so bring money tomorrow and take it home, my man. Is there anything else?"
Grace was constantly looking towards him, so he had to go to her; after the weird Tina incident, she might get real angry soon if he’s not there with her.
"I will; there’s also Kayla."
"She’s out of your league, man. Get to a fucking gym, Jim."
Patting Jim’s round shoulder, Chris smiled, and then with a wink, he started to walk towards Grace, while Faith was in the kitchen with Marsha requesting mac and cheese.
"Chris, Happy birthday, this is sent by Lena.
Before he could even take two steps, Tina somehow found him and handed him a small colorfully wrapped present. Lena, a two-year-old, can’t give anything, so Chris can assume it was from her, so he smilingly took it.
"Thank Lena for me."
"I will. She’s alone with my mother, so I will leave now. I will see you tomorrow."
"I can call you an Uber or taxi if you would like..."
"There’s no need for that; I can handle it."
With a graceful smile she hugged him one last time, then, grabbing her coat, left and didn’t even look at Grace, who was just standing by the side and was looking her way all this time.
"Hey there, stranger."
"Don’t be like that; she’s a co-worker."
"I know."
Grace smiled at Chris; she was quite surprised by how charming he looked even in his pajamas. While she was somewhat bitter about Tina, she was not going to ruin his birthday for it.
"SON-IN-LAW..."
"Here we go."
Chris smiled at Looking at Grace while Robert stood up with a bottle in his hand, this man doesn’t know how to handle his alcohol at all. Grace face-palmed herself first, then looked around for Faith. Seeing she is nowhere to be found in the small diner, she looked pleadingly at Chris.
"I can’t make him stop; go find Faith."
Saying this, Chris turned on his heel toward Robert, his smile as polite as ever. Dan’s face was buried in the table, and the sound of his snoring could be heard even in the packed diner.
"Mr. Howard, Please sit down; I will come to you."
"Mr.? Haah! You little runt, just because you stole my daughter from me, do you think you are better than me? Call me father-in-law "
"I...Father-in-law, Sir, please sit down; you are going to hurt yourself."
Chris first looked at Grace, who was almost begging him with folded hands, then ran to the kitchen. Robert looked unstable with his red face; he was barely even standing.
"I will not, so tell me, when are you going to take my daughter somewhere?"
"I will take her soon. I have just gotten a $120,000 check from Amazon. I will take her to Europe soon. Sir, please sit down."

While handling the drunken Robert, Chris noticed people were seeing them closely; as a super-rich person, Robert’s every move they have to see.
Excluding Tina, Grace, Faith, Dan, and Marsha, there were still 12 people left, so he took a gamble, and it did pay off, but someone in the group didn’t believe what he said, but he can’t just discuss it with them, right?
"Eh? Europe? That’s where they were conceived. Are you going to make babies?"
"I am certain there’s nothing like that that would happen, Sir; please calm down."
"Daaaad."
Faith rushed in, her face was red, and then Grace also ran ahead to handle their father; he was going to faint any moment now. She was more concerned about her father than petty talks because,of course, she and Chris are going to make babies, but not now.
"He’s really drunk; he might puke."
Chris, who was holding Robert forcefully on the diner chair, said to Faith and Grace; both girls nodded their heads. Faith held Robert’s right hand while Grace tied a ponytail for the journey back home.
