The Nightmare Wizard
Chapter 133: Reunion with Little Star
CHAPTER 133: CHAPTER 133: REUNION WITH LITTLE STAR
"Let’s see if I can bring another one..." he murmured, raising his hand again.
The floating images reappeared before him, spinning in the air like living marks. But when he selected the serpent, he noticed its color was no longer black; it had turned gray, like the golem or the lizard. Not understanding, he asked Angel:
"Huh? What happened?"
Angel replied with a calm but worried voice:
"You ran out of gray energy. Summoning consumes that specific energy... and you can only keep one high-level creature active with the amount you have now. You need to evolve more if you want to maintain multiple beasts at once."
William clenched his fist, annoyed, but quickly controlled his breathing.
"Well... at least one is better than none," he replied with a twisted smile.
He turned to the bear.
"Follow me."
The bear, without needing words or direct mind control, began to move behind him like a loyal animal, its heavy footsteps making the floor tiles vibrate. William started walking through the space, and the creature followed obediently, reacting to his presence with an almost organic synchronization.
Angel, out of curiosity, tried to enter the bear’s body, as she had done with other beings before.
"I’m going to try... maybe I can use it as a temporary spiritual vehicle..."
But as she got close, her energy passed through it as if it had no matter.
"No... I can’t touch it," she said, surprised. "It’s like the beetles. I can’t enter; it’s as if they don’t exist."
William raised an eyebrow thoughtfully but decided to temporarily set the matter aside as he continued, fascinated, briefly stroking the bear’s back, feeling its internal vibrations.
Seeing that his experiment had worked, Anubis slowly approached with a mysterious smile.
"Excellent work, Supreme," he said in a deep, calm voice. "Can the lizard and the golem also be brought back?"
William nodded.
"Yes... eventually. But not now. I still lack energy."
"Supreme, don’t rush. Your power will one day reach glory."
William looked at him for a moment before asking:
"Are hellhounds common in this region?"
Anubis nodded.
"In the wild zone, they are abundant. Although we only breed a few, to guard sensitive areas. They are useful beasts, obedient but cowardly. But if you wish, I can order you some now."
William firmly shook his head.
"No. I prefer to hunt them myself. I want to try something... a theory."
"As you wish," Anubis said, not insisting further. But his gaze was inquisitive.
Then William looked away and observed the three humans still present, standing near the courtyard wall, watching everything as if they didn’t know if they were in a dream or a nightmare.
"Anubis," William said suddenly, "take us to a private room. I need to speak with them... alone."
Anubis slightly frowned, a barely perceptible grimace that vanished as quickly as it appeared.
"As you wish."
With a gesture, he opened one of the side doors that led to a private room. Dark, silent, with a stone table in the center and blue torches that emitted no heat.
William entered first. The three humans followed him. And when Anubis tried to enter behind them, William firmly raised his hand.
"It’s private."
Anubis’s expression tightened.
For a moment, it seemed he was going to protest. A jackal god was never left out of a room. But... seeing William’s determined gaze, he lowered his chin as a sign of respect.
"Very well," he said in a neutral voice, and stood outside the doorway, like a guardian shadow.
William slowly closed the door, leaving only the distant murmur of consuming torches.
And then he turned to look at the three humans.
It was time to talk.
Once all four were inside the room, William stared at them, but the three didn’t dare to look back at him. So William sat down, motioning for them to sit in the chairs opposite him. The three sat respectfully, not daring to look at him too much.
"It seems you don’t remember me anymore, a true disappointment."
The three humans startled, but one in particular seemed to be holding back tears as she fell to her knees on the floor.
"I still remember you; I couldn’t forget that day, but so much time has passed that it’s like I’m dreaming and I didn’t want to wake up..."
Little Star’s words struck him, as he knew time passed differently here, but he still didn’t know how different it was.
"Tell me how much time passed from when I left until I saw you again a few days ago."
"100 years passed, William. I waited 10 years in that mansion, but after a while I felt like something was trying to push me out, so I decided to leave and explore the northern areas and found traces of a city, but I only found..."
Little Star seemed very scared, but William was in shock; 100 years had passed for her, and only one for him, but that made no sense. If the time difference was that much, then every time he went to Anubis, did she wait 100 days? If this happened, he’d eventually suspect something, which caused William to panic, so he couldn’t help but ask:
"You say 100 years passed, but since the last time I found you, how much time has passed?"
"It’s been 2 days, why?"
Little Star looked confused, as she seemed to be asking obvious things, but it also seemed that something wasn’t quite right according to the conversation.
For their part, the other two humans looked very nervous, as if they were holding themselves back from saying something. Their guilty attitude made William feel like something was very wrong here, so he raised his hand to stop them and prevent them from rambling.
After a few minutes, Little Star regained her composure. He asked her about them, but before Little Star could answer, the two men threw themselves to the ground on their knees, begging for mercy, causing William’s fury to ignite.
"Did these two do anything to you?"
The Sword of Chaos was already in his hand; he only needed Little Star’s confirmation to kill them, but Little Star’s answer made William hesitate about what to do.
"When I arrived here, it wasn’t this strange mine. It was as if there was a force field that divided both areas, preventing beings like Anubis from passing into the mansion area, or at least I thought so. One day, while exploring, I found my father’s notebook, and it said he was going to try to enter that area, as he thought the reason for our downfall was related to that energy dome. Following his diary, I managed to find the entrance to this place, but it took less than two minutes for me to be cornered by the Hellhounds. They surrounded me and called the guards who imprisoned me. That’s when I arrived, I saw my father for the last time; he was being dragged into a cell by two gigantic minotaurs. At that moment, I heard these two thank my father for taking the blame for them and that they wouldn’t have to die yet. I said nothing about us being father and daughter and remained locked in the dungeon of this place all these years. They forced us to extract a red liquid from the ground; apparently, only people from other worlds can extract it without harm, as this liquid is too toxic for them.
That’s why they don’t kill us immediately, and only when your body can’t take any more do they dismember you and place you on the tower to keep building it. All this time, these two acted as rulers of the surviving humans and forced us to give them a portion of our harvests so they wouldn’t have to work. They had many strong followers, so we couldn’t resist; besides, it was that or being violated, so we had to work even harder to prevent harm.
Because of them, almost all the humans died, as they couldn’t meet the quotas and the dungeon guardians punished them by killing them. The day we escaped was because I found an unguarded place. Although I didn’t tell anyone, they managed to follow and catch up to me. When I thought they would hurt me, the Hellhounds chased us, so they couldn’t do anything to me at the moment, and then you appeared, my lord. Since then, they have been tense, fearing that I would speak; many times they hinted at things to prevent me from saying anything about them..."
William didn’t need to hear more. He raised his hand and, without hesitation, decapitated both of them. His gaze was cold, emotionless, as if he were merely crushing two annoying insects, while he continued to embrace Little Star and whispered that everything would be okay.
Even as he repeated those words, his heart couldn’t calm down, wishing to annihilate them repeatedly. Regrettably, he had killed them in a fit of rage, now regretting not being able to torture them further.
