CHAPTER 234: 213: I’M PREGNANT, AND THE CHILD IS YOURS
After dating for so long, it was the first time Shi Wei heard the girl’s confession.
A flash of slight astonishment crossed his eyes, as if in disbelief: "Zhizhi, say it again."
The man’s jaw tightened, and his throat bobbed a couple of times. Besides nervousness, there was more anticipation.
"I like you, Shi Wei."
The girl’s expression was very serious, like standing with him in a church, making vows before a priest.
Shi Wei gazed into her eyes and suddenly laughed. The smile was just right, like the first thaw of winter snow, signaling the bustling revival of all things.
He tightly embraced her waist, pressing his forehead against hers, and in a low, affectionate voice, said: "I like you too, I really do."
A love that rushes towards each other is joyous.
Even a simple verbal confession is enough to bring their hearts closer together.
An indescribable joy spread from Shi Wei’s heart to his limbs and body.
Like falling into a jar of honey, every breath carrying a sweet scent, inescapable.
He gave the girl a kiss as gentle as a feather: "Zhizhi, just one year more, then I can marry you home."
A strong sense of possessiveness flashed through the man’s eyes.
But this kind of possessiveness, tinged with affection, did not make the girl resentful; rather, it brought a slight sense of delight.
"Okay." Yu Zhi lightly replied, her smile blossoming like a flower as she gently caressed the man’s divine and handsome face.
The soft fingertips traveled from his brows and eyes down to his nose bridge, each pause seemingly touching his heart.
Suddenly, the smile on her face faded. Her stomach churned violently, and she could no longer hold back, turning her head and starting to retch.
This really scared Shi Wei.
He anxiously carried the girl to the bathroom, quickly pouring a glass of water inside.
The man looked worriedly at the girl who was retching against the sink, placing his large palm gently on her back to soothe her.
"Zhizhi, are you okay?"
Yu Zhi was unbearably uncomfortable, something seemed stuck in her throat, wanting to vomit but unable to.
After a while, she slowly raised her head.
Her face was even redder than before, and her almond eyes had a few glistening tears swirling, making her look pitiful.
"It’s nothing." She took the cup the man handed her and drank a large gulp of water.
A surge of warmth came, and her stomach felt much better.
"No more drinking alcohol in the future." Shi Wei’s heart ached, but he couldn’t bear to say a harsh word.
He sighed softly, holding her hand and leading her out, patting her on the top of her head: "Wait for me, I’ll go downstairs to get you a bottle of yogurt."
"Okay." Yu Zhi obediently sat on the sofa.
She caressed the glass in her hand, glanced down at her stomach, with a slight frown.
She didn’t know what came to mind, but her expression became more and more serious.
Shi Wei came back with warmed yogurt, seeing the girl holding the cup and staring absentmindedly.
He wrapped his arm around her waist, the touch bringing her wandering thoughts back: "Zhizhi, drink the yogurt first."
The man’s low voice sounded by her ear, Yu Zhi’s gaze shifted to the yogurt in his hand, but she didn’t take it immediately.
She paused for a few seconds, gazing solemnly into his eyes, her tightly furrowed brows seemingly about to crush a fly: "Shi Wei, I have something to tell you."
The girl’s expression made Shi Wei raise an eyebrow.
He pointed the straw at the little round tab on the yogurt, putting it to her lips: "What?"
Yu Zhi now had no mood to drink anything.
She snatched the yogurt and put it on the table, grasping his wrist and placing his large hand on her belly: "I’m pregnant."
"??" Shi Wei doubted his hearing.
He repeated the girl’s words, his voice involuntarily rising a bit: "You’re pregnant?"
"Yes, the baby is yours."
"I know the baby is mine." Whose else could it be if not his?
"Then what do you mean?" Yu Zhi couldn’t see any happiness on his face.
Her emotions inexplicably felt a bit low, even the light in her almond eyes dimmed significantly.
Shi Wei felt like he was getting caught up by the girl, he took a deep breath, and asked gently: "Zhizhi, how do you know you’re pregnant?"
Just the time he went to get yogurt, how did a child suddenly come between them?
"Last month at the villa, you didn’t... I just checked online, and it said my dry heaving is a reaction to morning sickness."
"Let me see."
Yu Zhi handed him the phone, waiting a few minutes, and when she saw his expression becoming more and more amazed, her previous disappointment slowly dissipated.
"Zhizhi, it says here that morning sickness appears at six to eight weeks of pregnancy." Shi Wei’s grip on the phone tightened significantly.
But, pregnancy can be detected as soon as ten days.
Morning sickness could be false, but pregnancy...
"A doctor said that everyone’s reactions are different." Yu Zhi leaned closer and showed him the previous post she saw.
She recited every word in the black text on the screen to him, as if proving to him that she was indeed pregnant.
Shi Wei lowered his eyes, unconsciously focusing his starlit eyes on her belly.
When she finished reading, he rubbed the place that might hold a little baby, softly kissing her cheek: "I’ll take you to the hospital tomorrow."
Although he was very much looking forward to nurturing a life with the girl, logic told him that the probability was small.
He was never one to seek temporary pleasures, nor would he play with the girl’s body.
After all, she was still young, and if he wasn’t sure, he wouldn’t have done so at the time.
"What if I really am pregnant, what will we do?" Yu Zhi leaned against his shoulder in confusion, fingers clutching the corner of his clothing.
Shi Wei smiled without any hesitation: "Marry you soon and bring him into this world."
He would always give her reassurance when she needed it most, letting her truly at ease.
Yu Zhi nodded slightly, nestled in his arms, then asked after a long silence: "If I’m pregnant, does that mean I can’t go to school?"
Shi Wei: "..."
The girl was always trying to find ways not to study.
Shi Wei couldn’t help but laugh as he agreed: "Would you be willing to stay at home nurturing the baby every day?"
"I would."
"Would you be able to not leave the house for a year?"
The man playfully teased, seeing the girl in his arms ponder, he found her absolutely adorable.
"I could." Staying at home is also better than being at school; nurturing for a year and a half is no big deal.
Shi Wei finally couldn’t help but let out a slightly lazy laugh, tapping the girl’s nose: "Alright, time to rest."
After all, being a "pregnant woman," she should sleep early.
