bChapter 288 /b

    bCyra /b

I look bat /bYorick. “We haven’t really had a chance to talk about it, but I’d like to consider taking that second check and bputting /bbit /baside bas /bban /binheritance for our pups. Then the money we make on our investments could be used for the pack.”

b“/bOoch, I like that idea. Let’s see, we’ll get another twenty–five million when I get you pregnant, so, we could have twenty–five bpups /band they Could all get a million dors when theye of age,” he says, grinning at me. Warren snorts and I hear Yara mumble about bYorick /bbbeing /bpassionate just like his father.

“Maybe let’s start with a more manageable number, like twelve,” Iugh.

“Deal! And once we reach twelve, we’ll renegotiate,” he says, still grinning at me.

I shake my head, ughing as Warren kisses his mate and heads to the packhouse while we continue toward the pack hospital.

Once we get there, Yara has me pee in a cup and then draws my blood. “Just a reminder, even if you don’t have a positive pregnancy test today, I’ll want to test you next weekend. If both tests are negative, then we can start you on birth control. If you’re negative today, you’ll need to continue using birth control while having sex for the next week. Let me go process this and I’ll be right back, she says.

As soon as she leaves, Yorickes to stand in front of me where I’m sitting on the table.

“So, twelve to start, huh?” he says, pushing my legs apart so he can step between them. He pulls me against him, and I wrap my legs around his waist.

“That seems a bit more manageable than twenty–five. We’d need to build another packhouse just for our family,” I say, watching his eyes glint with excitement.

“I would be okay with that. And, if you’re like Kennedy, you could have four in one shot. Then you’d only be pregnant three times and we’d already be at our twelve,” he says, as if having quadruplets is an everyday urrence.

“I want you to live your dreams, Yorick. I want you to be part of the C–Squad. If we have quads or even triplets, that’s going to be hard. Let’s see how it goes. If I’m not already pregnant, let’s not n to start having pups until we’re done with the Academy or maybe even a bit longer.”

“My dreams include a big family with you, Cyra. C–Squad is work, work that I’m sure I will love. But you are my life. Our future family is my life.”

“Fine,” I say with mock surrender. “Keep me pregnant for twelve years,” I sigh.

“That’s the spirit,” he says, growling as he kisses me, pulling me tightly against him.

‘For the record, I’m good with twenty–five pups,‘ Rina says in the mind link while we’re kissing.

‘I would give you hundreds, my love,‘ Thad purrs back.

‘Not hundreds,’ Yorick and I say together, ughing as we pull away from our kiss.

When Yara walks back in, I can tell by the disappointed look on her face that it’s another negative pregnancy test.

“We’ll test again next week, just to be sure,” she says.

I’m not sure why I feel disappointed. I hadn’t intended to have a pup this soon, but honestly, with Yorick, I want oneb. /bbI /bwant his pup bgrowing /bin my belly..

b“/bbWe /bcan always change our mind at any time,” I tell him out loud.

“I know. Come on, we have a lot of work to do before we head back to the Academy tonight,” he says, lifting me off the btable /band bputting /bme

    bon /bmy bfeet/b.

We spend the rest of the afternoon working with the pack and Warren. When Hacker and Hijack returnb, /bthey shower and have dinner, bthen /bHijack says goodbye before heading back to the Academy. Hacker shows us how the security system works, what to do if an brm /bbgoes /bboff/bb, /bhow to switch between quadrants, and everything else we need to know about the system.

b“/bThis is incredible! Thank you so much,” I say.

    “You’re wee,”

“We’re going to head out in about an hour, does that work for you?” Yorick asks him. He checks his watch.

“That’s perfect, I’ll meet you down here.”

We spend ourst hour with my father, making a n for the week. We’ve just finished our meeting when Hacker knocks on the door.

    “Ready?” Yorick asks him.

“Almost. Alpha Warren, may I speak with you?” he asks.

    “Of course.”

Since it doesn’t seem like he needs us, Yorick and I go to our room to get our bags and put them in the car. When Hacker walks out, he’s got ba /bhuge grin on his face.

We say goodbye to the family and even Hacker joins in. I’m a bit surprised when I see him hug Wendy and even more surprised when I hear him whisper that he’ll see her next weekend.

The moment we get in the car, Yorick starts.

“Why will you be seeing my sister next weekend?” he asks.

“Your father agreed that I could take her on a date,” he says, looking very pleased about that. “And before you go all big brother on me, your father has already reminded me that Wendy is underage, and I’ve assured him that I will respect that, But your sister is amazing and I can’t wait to spend more time with her.”

Yorick is quiet on the ride back to the Academy. He still holds my hand and still pulls it to his lips ito /ikiss every once in a while, but he doesn’t say anything. Through our bond, I can feel him processing how he feels about Hacker dating Wendy.

Finally, as we pull into the parking lot at the Academy, he speaks.

“You did help her in sparring. She responds to you in a way that she didn’t respond to us. I appreciate that, and I’m sure my father does as well. Just be careful with my sister. You’ve seen our family in action, you know how much we love each other, and you know what we do bto /bthose who hurt the ones we love,” he says, parking the car and turning to look at Hacker.

“I do. I have nothing but good intentions with you sister,” he says.

“Good. Then I guess we’ll be driving together again next weekend?b” /b

“No, actually. I want to take your sister out to dinner and I’ll need my car for that. But I wouldn’t say no to crashing in byour /bbpack /bbfor /bba /bbcouple /b
