CHAPTER 61: THE TEAM.

Chapter 100

The moment Elijah knocked on the door, it didn’t take long for it to open, revealing a beautiful girl.

She had striking purple hair and matching eyes, her beauty accentuated by an hourglass figure that was much more defined than before.

Her eyes locked onto the red ones before her, and she froze — like time itself had stopped.

Kai smiled at the sight, standing behind Elijah, who gazed at her as a gentle smile appeared on his face.

Mai’s beauty had only grown over time, just like her power, which had now reached the Peak of the Intermediate Knight stage.

Before Elijah could open his mouth, Mai — looking at the slightly taller Elijah — jumped into his arms, hugging him tightly as a huge smile spread across her face.

"You’re back," was all she could say.

Elijah hugged her back, glancing behind to see Jack staring at him, his red eyes glowing with an intensity only Elijah could understand.

His messy golden hair was still the same — chaotic, yet somehow perfect for him.

He had grown some facial hair, too.

Jack stood there, tall and unmoving like a wall, eyes locked onto Elijah as he said,

"The Boss is back."

"Yeah, I am," Elijah replied before Mai let go and punched him in the stomach.

Elijah pretended to be hurt as Mai shouted, "I’m happy you’re back — but you didn’t even tell us you were coming! You left without saying anything to us except Kai. Is he the only one who needs to know? Do you even see us as a team, or just some idiots?"

"Sorry, Mai. I was selfish. I’ll make it up to everyone. But for now... I just want to see everyone. I missed you. Can you be angry at me later?" Elijah asked softly.

She smiled and nodded, stepping aside.

Elijah walked into the house.

Not much had changed — only a few things — as he moved forward. Jack kept staring at him like a dead man walking.

Because the aura waiting ahead... was not welcoming.

If Elijah’s father were alive today, he would have pitied his own son.

That suffocating aura came from the woman standing behind Jack.

She had black hair, blood-red eyes, and chocolate skin.

Despite being in her 30s, her beauty remained the same — something to be admired.

She stood behind Jack, who tried to shield her presence, but the bloodlust rolling off her was overwhelming.

"You’re back, huh?" came her voice as Jack stepped aside, revealing the woman’s cold gaze locked onto Elijah.

"Mom," Elijah said just before a knife flew past his head, making him nervous.

"Can we sit down and enjoy the moment first? Before you kill me, Mom?" he said, forcing a smile. "I want to hear how you’ve been... and show you all my love."

She continued staring coldly as three more knives appeared from nowhere, darting toward his head — but in an instant, Elijah dodged them, closed the distance, and hugged her.

"Missed you," he whispered, kissing her forehead.

Her cold expression melted immediately as she spoke angrily, "You and your father..." She sighed, smiling at last, happy her son was back. "Missed you too, my dear."

"Before I kill you later, let me go so I can cook a grand dinner for us," Stella said with a smile.

Elijah’s spine tingled at the underlying danger.

’Just accept my fate,’ he thought.

Sometime later

Cars were moving in a single direction.

The largest car at the center carried the leaders of the gang. Every person inside had a nickname.

It was rare for all of them to gather in one place, which made the drivers in the four escort vehicles wonder — but none dared to question it.

If the leaders hadn’t said a word, then it wasn’t their place to ask.

But from the direction they were headed... and the smiles the leaders wore... something was definitely going on at the Boss’s house.

Everyone knew the Boss hadn’t been part of the gang for a year and a half — he’d vanished out of nowhere.

Yet from the way things were now, gang members were starting to think otherwise.

Why else would all the leaders go there?

They’d never done that before — only one leader at a time would ever visit.

But now?

All of them were coming together.

Inside the car

Tristan, now with some facial hair and a wide smile, sat back.

His mixed complexion glowed with confidence, and his aura had grown immensely over the past year.

Now 18 years old — the same as Elijah — he spoke,

"Looks like the Boss is back. Things are about to get interesting."

Kevin, a dark-complexioned man with a tattoo stretching from his neck to his face — a mark of something he’d promised Elijah two years ago — now 20, nodded.

"Yeah. I missed that idiot."

Lucas, now even bigger and bulkier — though still not as massive as Jack — at 19 years old, frowned.

"You shouldn’t call our leader an idiot. It lowers his status among our members."

Kevin chuckled. "Don’t worry. I’m the only one who calls him that. If anyone else tries, they’ll be dead before they realize it."

Lucas sighed, then looked at Aurora, who had been quiet.

"What’s on your mind?"

Aurora simply smiled.

Her beauty had only grown in the past two years.

Not much else had changed — except her cultivation, which had skyrocketed.

She’d reached the Advanced Knight stage faster than anyone in the car.

Now known as the Queen of the Asura Gang because of her ruthlessness, she replied,

"Just wondering what his next plans are for the gang. Or... has he changed? Maybe he wants a peaceful life now."

Lucas snorted. "That can never happen. He promised us we’d reach the top."

Aurora shrugged and nodded. "Maybe. But if he doesn’t anymore... what will you guys do?"

Lucas answered without hesitation. "I’ll beat the sense back into him."

Aurora chuckled. "I doubt even all of us together — with Jack’s help — could defeat him now. Can’t you all sense that overwhelming ki coming from the house?"

The car pulled up just 40 meters away.
