CHAPTER 240: CHAPTER 240: FAINTLY PERCEIVED

Yang Er’s man Fugui froze for a moment, then angrily marched toward the kitchen.

He first heard a sharp "shh-shh" sound and went in to see his wife sharpening a knife.

Just as he was about to continue his tirade, he saw his wife suddenly raise her head, her eyes showing a ferocity he had never seen before.

He involuntarily took a step back, his voice suddenly lowering by several tones, "What are you sharpening the knife for, get cooking!"

Yang Er’s wife was already in a panic, barely holding it together, but hearing his voice suddenly drop, she suddenly understood something.

She continued sharpening the knife, eyes fixed fiercely on Fugui, her voice icy, "Eat what? You beat me every three days, sooner or later you’ll beat me to death, might as well end it all together."

Fugui looked at his wife in shock. Is this woman crazy today?

He wanted to curse, but the sharpening noise, apart from being annoying, inexplicably made his heart pound.

Fugui glanced at the knife, muttered, "Fine, don’t cook, I’ll go eat noodles at the street corner," and turned to leave.

The sound of sharpening accompanied Fugui as he walked away.

Yang Er’s wife waited for a long time, assuming Fugui was far away, then dropped the knife and burst into tears.

In the backyard of Renxin Hall, everyone was already gathered around a table, starting to eat.

Mrs. Chen looked around and suddenly said, "Where’s Lao Jiu?"

Yun Jiao remembered, "He went to buy clothes, save him some food."

Just as she said that, Lao Jiu burst in energetically, carrying a parcel in his hand.

Yun Jiao laughed, "Already done shopping?"

Lao Jiu placed the parcel on the side table, chuckling, "Bought it from the tailor shop next door, the shop owner even gave me a discount." He glanced covertly at Guihua.

But Guihua didn’t notice him, she was serving food to Yingzi.

Lao Jiu didn’t mind, he served himself a bowl of rice, found a spot, and squeezed in to eat.

After the meal, everyone dispersed.

Only Guihua stayed to clean up, Yingzi and Sanya helping beside her.

Lao Jiu saw them putting the bowls and chopsticks into a large crate and quickly came over, "This is heavy, I’ll take it to the kitchen."

Guihua was momentarily stunned, feeling a bit strange since Lao Jiu had unexpectedly helped her wash vegetables earlier.

Now, with everyone gone and Lao Jiu staying to help, it seemed even stranger.

She knew Lao Jiu was a bachelor, and a vague thought crept into her mind, startling herself, and she quickly brushed it off.

She came out of the main room and saw Jiang Youzhi and Yun Jiao standing under the honeysuckle trellis talking.

Afraid to look longer, she quickly headed into the kitchen.

Jiang Youzhi was softly saying to Yun Jiao, "I asked around, they said there’s a peach grove by the river outside the city to the east, the scenery is quite nice."

Yun Jiao thought for a moment, just a day’s outing, not seeing patients for a day, the pharmacy wouldn’t collapse, "Are the peach blossoms blooming?"

Jiang Youzhi looked at her gently, "They should be."

"Our academy is on the mountain, a few peach trees there are budding, the mountain peaches should bloom later, the ones by the river, they should have bloomed."

Yun Jiao smiled, "Then let’s go."

She went inside to ask Mrs. Chen if she wanted to join.

Mrs. Chen waved her hands repeatedly, "What would I do there, it’s great for you young folks to go enjoy spring."

The next morning, when the shop opened and breakfast was done, the kids eager to go out couldn’t hold back any longer and started running wildly around the yard.
