Lucas‘ gaze
Lucas was quite pleased with the scene. Soon, Cameron could keep Jill upied, and then…
But before he could finish the thought, another car pulled up. Samson and Benjamin jumped out, and the moment Samson hit the ground, he shouted, “You guys took off way too fast! Couldn’t even wait for us!”
When Lucas saw them arrive too, his face darkenedpletely.
Sloane spotted Lucas and hurried over, a trace of apology on her face. “Lucas, I’m really sorry. Jill got excited when she heard we were going to the stables, and everyone wanted to tag along. I couldn’t get out of it.”
As for Samson and Benjamin, they were probably invited by Jill.
There was no way Lucas could bear to see her upset. He quickly said, “No problem; the more, the merrier.”
The moment Samson got out of the car, his eyes went straight to Lucas‘ outfit. His tone carried a teasing edge. “Well, well, Lucas, this is a rare look for you. You don’t usually go for such bright colors. Totally not your style!”
Lucas shot him a cold nce, his eyes shing a warning. He replied tly, “No harm in switching things up once in a while. Nothing to make a fuss about.”
Sloane couldn’t help giving Lucas a closer look after hearing Samson’sment.
Today, he was wearing a sharply tailored red riding outfit; the vibrant color made him look even more striking and handsome.
He was already tall and broad–shouldered, with a trim waist and long legs. In the sunlight, the red of his riding gear looked especially dazzling, as though it cast a glow around him.
His usual air was cool and distant, but that bold ssh of color added a surprising edge of charisma, elegant yet brimming with energy.
Sloane’s gaze lingered on him for a moment, a flicker of admiration shing through her eyes.
She had never seen Lucas wear something so bright before, but she had to admit–he looked absolutely maic.

Lucas noticed Sloane staring at him, silent for a beat too long. Nervously, he swallowed.
He looked down at his clothes and asked, a little uncertain, “What is it? Does it… not look right?”
Snapping out of it, Sloane smiled and shook her head. Her tone was sincere. “No, you look great. It suits you–it makes you look more energetic. I think you should try other colors more often. No need to always dress so dark.”
Hearing her praise, Lucas lit up inside; a small, involuntary smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
Even the chill in his usual expression softened a little as he replied in a rare gentle tone, “Thank you.”
Samson, seeing this, looked even more pleased and was about to tease him again, but Benjamin grabbed him by the arm just in time.
Lowering his voice with a hint of helplessness, Benjamin muttered, “Samson, give it a rest. Don’t push your luck.”
Samson waved him off dismissively. “What’s the big deal? Lucas is in a good mood today–he won’t take it personally.”
Benjamin just shook his head, secretly breaking into a cold sweat on Samson’s behalf.
He knew all too well, Lucas might look calm on the surface, but he’d definitely taken mental
notes.
“Mr. Hawthorne, Sloane said we’d get to ride and hunt today. Hurry up and take us, will you?” Jill chirped impatiently, her cheerful nature shining through.
Lucas handed the reins to a nearby staff member and said, “I’ll lead the way.”
Jill linked arms with Sloane, happily walking ahead.
Samson couldn’t help sliding back over to Lucas‘ side, grinning as he whispered, “Damn, Lucas, this outfit really paid off. The results speak for themselves!”
Lucas gave him another cold nce. “There’s been some trouble at the Virelia branch. I was just about to send someone over to supervise. I think you’d be a perfect fit.”
