Chapter 255 The Shrimp Incident
Lucas let out a softugh, his gaze deep and gentle as he traced every feature of Sloane’s face.
Her eyes sparkled like a sky full of stars, yful and bright. The slight curve of her lips carried a teasing edge, yet there was something sweet in it too.
A faint flush colored her cheeks, and even the tips of her ears had turned pink, making her look irresistibly charming.
Lucas’s heart sped up without warning, and his breathing grew uneven. He could feel her breath brushing softly against his skin, ced with a light floral scent-warm, clean, and disarming.
His eyes drifted to her lips-lightly pressed together, delicate and pink. They felt like a silent invitation, stirring a longing he struggled to contain.
His fingers tightened around the edge of the stool. Those three minutes felt endlessly long.
When time was finally up, Sloane pulled away and turned to Jill with a triumphant grin. “Taskplete!”
Jill and the others burst out cheering, theirughter filling the air with even more energy.
As the game continued, Sloane somehow kept drawing tasks that involved Lucas-feeding him grilled food, partnering with him for challenges.
Lucas kept a straight face, but the red creeping up his ears said otherwise. He clutched the stool so hard it seemed like he might break it.
Sloane, whileughing and ying along with Jill, never missed a single flicker of emotion on Lucas’s face.
She blinked slowly, grinning like a sly little fox.
When the game wound down and dusk settled/in, everyone gathered around the bonfire, soaking in the peaceful evening.
Lucas sat beside Sloane, his eyes drifting to her now and then, full of quiet tenderness.
Sloane turned toward him, eyeing the grilled shrimp he had just peeled. “That one any good?”
Lucas had peeled it for her anyway and was about to hand it over when she leaned in and took a bite straight from his hand. Her move was so casual and natural, like it was the most ordinary thing in the world.
“Mm. Tastes great,” she said, chewing contentedly. She stood up and strolled toward Jill without looking back. “I’m joining the next round.”,
Lucas stared at the shrimp in his hand, now missing a bite, his fingers curling around it slightly.
Just then, Samson wandered over, clearly worn out from ying. He eyed the shrimp. “You done with
that? I’ll take-”
Before he could finish, Lucas instinctively shifted the shrimp away from him.

Samson froze, then red at him. “Seriously? It’s just shrimp! You’re being stingy over grilled shrimp?”
Lucas swallowed the bite and replied evenly, “Not this one. Take anything else.”
Samson stared in disbelief. Was this really the same Lucas-usually so indifferent and generous, never caring about stuff like this?
Fuming, he took a bite of his own grilled meat and muttered, “You’ve changed, Lucas…”
Lucas didn’t even nce at him, continuing to eat what remained of the shrimp.
Samson looked around. Sloane and Jill had wandered off somewhere together, out of sight.
He scooted closer to Lucas.
Lucas shot him a sideways look, clearly unimpressed.
“You obviously like Sloane,” Samson said with a frown. “So why haven’t you told her?”
