All color drained from Sloane’s face. Her heart skipped a beat. She grabbed Conor’s arm, her voice trembling. “Where is he? What happened? Is he okay?”
“He’s at the hospital,” Conor said grimly. “I’ll take you there right away. You’ll have to see for yourself.”
“Okay.”
Sloane raced to the hospital. As soon as she arrived, she saw Samson and the others pacing anxiously outside the operating room.
Madam Tessa was slumped on a bench, her face ghostly pale, her eyes filled with despair. Molly stood beside her, desperately trying to calm her down.
“Ms. Sloane, thank goodness you’re here!” Molly rushed toward her as if seeing a lifeline.
Hearing her name, Madam Tessa jolted upright. She gripped Sloane’s hand tightly, her voice shaking. “Sloane, Lucas has been poisoned… they’re still trying to save him… please, you have to save him!”
Sloane’s heart sank, but she forced herself to stayposed. She gently patted Madam Tessa’s hand. “Don’t worry. I’ll go see him now.”
Without another word, she turned and headed quickly into the operating room.
Inside, doctors were working frantically.
Lucasy motionless on the surgical table, his skin pale as paper, his breathing barely there. rms red from the monitors–his vitals were crashing fast.
Sloane rushed to his side, pulled on gloves, and scanned his condition with a single look. She ced her fingers on his wrist, checking his pulse. Her frown deepened–his pulse was erratic, the poison had already invaded his organs. The situation was dire.
*Sloane, Mr. Lucas was poisoned with a rarepound. We’ve checked every record we could find, but there’s no known antidote,” said Benjamin, his voice tight with urgency.
Sloane didn’t respond. She opened her bag and quickly pulled out her silver needles, moving to apply them to several key acupoints on Lucas’s body.
Her hands were steady and precise, each needle sliding cleanly into its mark, buying him time by suppressing the spread of the poison.
Without looking up, her voice was calm and icy. “I’m only holding back the poison for now. It’s far too aggressive. If we want to cure him, we need to know exactly what he was poisoned with.”
“I’ve got him,” Benjamin said. “Go do what you have to do. I’ll watch over Lucas.”

Sloane nodded and hurried out of the operating room.

The moment she stepped out, everyone swarmed around her. “How is Lucas?” Samson asked urgently.
Sloane went straight to Madam Tessa, her expression grim. “Ma’am, I need to know exactly how Lucas was poisoned.”
She didn’t wait for a response and quickly exined, “Lucas has been hit with several types of poison at once. The toxins are neutralizing each other to a degree, but I’ve only managed to block them from spreading with acupuncture. If I try to purge one poison without knowing the rest, the others will immediately surge to his heart and lungs. He won’t make it.”
Madam Tessa swayed, nearly fainting. She bit down on her tongue, forcing herself to stay upright. “Lucas… he’s only been going between thepany and hometely. He’s always been extra cautious with food ever since… I don’t understand how this could’ve happened again…”
