Chapter 267 A Child Raised in Love

Chapter 267 A Child Raised in Love

Lucas’s gaze dropped to the words: “Supports im as biological mother.”

His lips twitched, pulling into a sarcastic smile. But it was a smile tinged with grief.

The truth hit like a knife, sharp and merciless, driving straight into his heart.

    s

For as long as he could remember, his mother had been harsh-almost unreasonably so. He’d believed it was because she wanted to mold him into the perfect heir.

Even after his father’s death, when she’d grown distant and indifferent, he’d never questioned it.

He’d once thought Mason was simply more considerate, and that’s why she favored him.

But all of it had been a cover-for another beloved son.

No wonder when Mason died, she’d seemed anxious but never truly devastated.

Mason, it turned out, was nothing more than a puppet she’d pushed forward.

Lucas clutched the paternity test report in his hand, rage burning through him as he rushed back toward the vi. But just as the gates came into view, he abruptly changed his mind.

“Andrew. Turn around. We’re going to Stonebridge High.”

Lucas stood on the front steps of Stonebridge High School, his eyes cold as they scanned the boys sprinting across the court.

The basketball court pulsed with youthful energy. The screech of sneakers, the thump of the ball against the backboard, and the shouts of teenagers filled the air with noise and life.

One boy in particr stood out. He wore a white jersey and a ck headband, sweat trickling down his face, but it didn’t slow him down one bit.

His dribbling was quick, his drives aggressive, his shots urate. Every time he scored, the girls on the sidelines screamed and cheered.

Confidence radiated from him. His eyes sparkled with hunger for victory, his smile wide and easy. His teammates swarmed around him, exchanging high-fives and encouragement. The whole court was alive with warmth and camaraderie.

Lucas watched coldly, unmoved. The boy before him brimmed with life, as if untouched by pain or hardship.

His eyes were clear. His smile was bright.

He looked like someone who had grown up surrounded by love.

The principal stood beside Lucas, speaking in a hushed voice. “Sir, that’s Kelvin. He’s our basketball team captain. Great student, very outgoing, well-liked by everyone.”

Lucas didn’t answer. He just gave a faint nod, his gaze fixed on Kelvin, though his heart had gone numb.

The game ended. Kelvin wiped off his sweat and waved goodbye to his teammates with a smile.

“Kelvin,e over for a moment,” the principal called out.

    s

Kelvin recognized the voice and jogged over, basketball in hand. But as he got closer and saw who was standing beside the principal, surprise shed in his eyes-followed quickly by admiration and excitement.

The principal stepped forward with a grin. “Kelvin, this is Mr. Lucas from Hawthorne Corp. He’s the one who donated our basketball court. Mr. Lucas came today to see how you all were doing.”

“Sir, it’s an honor!” Kelvin said, voice tinged with awe. “I’ve seen you in the news! You’re an inspiration- I’ve looked up to you for years!”

Lucas stared at him, face like ice.

The boy standing in front of him was full of life, his smile pure and unguarded-like someone who had never known sorrow.
