Once it was confirmed that Sloane wasn’t getting out, Samantha happily dressed up and headed out the door looking gorgeous.
Inside, Sloane let out a coldugh. Marshall really thought a tiny little lock could stop her? Dream on.
Meanwhile, Quinn was outside in the yard, directing the gardeners on trimming the flowers and bushes, when he vaguely heard strange soundsing from upstairs.
He frowned and paused, ncing suspiciously in the direction of Sloane’s room.
Before he could make sense of it, a loud crash erupted–like something heavy had copsed.
Heart racing, Quinn dashed upstairs.
The moment he reached the second floor, he saw Sloane stepping calmly out of her room. The door that had been tightly shut was now wrecked–its lock twisted, the frame cracked in several ces, wood chips scattered all over the floor.
Quinn’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Ms. Rivers, what… what are you doing?”
“Breaking the door down. What does it look like?” Sloane said indifferently, lifting her foot to head downstairs.
Snapping out of his dazei, /iQuinn rushed forward and spread his arms to block her path. “Ms. Rivers, you can’t leave. This was Ms. Marshall’s order.”
Sloane’s gaze instantly turned icy. She lifted her hand and gave him a light push. Quinn weighed over a hundred pounds, yet his body hit the floor hard. Even more unnerving–he couldn’t move at all.
Sloane stepped over him and walked downstairs.
It wasn’t until she waspletely out of sight that Quinn slowly began to regain feeling in his limbs. But by then, it was far toote to catch her.
Sloane opened the car door and climbed in, her face stone–cold.

Samson was busy preening in the rearview mirror when he saw her sour expression. He let out a whistle and grinned. “Who ticked you off? Want me to handle it?”
Lucas had told him to get Sloane safely to the exam hall.
Sloane shot him a look, swallowed her fury, and said simply, “Marshall locked me in my room. She tried to stop me from taking the test.”
Samson’s face twisted with confusion. “Is the Rivers family brain–dead or what? You’re their actual daughter. Why are they treating you like this?”
He changed tone mid–sentence, curiosity taking over. “So how’d you get out?”
Sloane answered calmly. “I broke the door down.”
Samson burst outughing and gave her a thumbs–up. “That’s badass. I like it.”
After the exam, Sloane came out rubbing her shoulder. It had been way too long since she’d written anything–her shoulder felt frozen.
She looked around the street but didn’t see any sign of Samson. No telling where that guy had gone off to.
“Sloane, you really sneaked out…” Samantha looked at her, hesitant.
She’de with friends to wait outside the exam hall and never expected to see Sloane walk out of it. No matter how hard she tried, Sloane still made it in.
The girl beside Samantha sneered as she looked Sloane up and down. “Samantha, is this your hick sister from the countryside?”
Sloane’s eyes turned sharp as knives, locking on the speaker. The force in her stare made the girl instinctively shrink back.
Sloane rolled her eyes. “Did I eat your rice or something? Mind your own damn business.”
The girl was so startled by Sloane’s presence that she couldn’te up with a
response.
Seeing the tension, Samantha stepped forward with a pitiful look. “Don’t be mad,
