The Rebirth Of The Beast Tamer
Chapter 49: Unrelentless Quest
CHAPTER 49: UNRELENTLESS QUEST
Kelvin and Xerion charged, their Convergence was a tempest of flame and soullight. Kelvin’s gauntlet formed a blade that sliced a wraith’s arm, while Xerion’s flames countered their fire.
A wraith’s claw grazed Kelvin’s arm, searing his flesh, but their bond reduced the effect of the pain.
Lyra and Salaris darted through the pack, the raptor’s talons stroke its eyes as Lyra’s shadow runes bound their flames. A wraith’s claw nicked Salaris, but Lyra’s amulet healed her, and they cleared the pack.
Darius and Rhoam barreled through, the panther’s armor and deflected the flames as Darius’s soulstone explosion scattered the wraiths. Rhoam’s claws tore through a beast core, and the pack dissolved.
The Ember Guardian appeared-a Level 7 colossus of molten stone. The trio attacked as one. Xerion’s flames weakened its stone, Salaris’s talons struck its joints, and Rhoam’s charge cracked its form.
Kelvin leaped with his soullight blade piercing the flame, and Lyra claimed it, its heat pulsed in her hand.
The peaks faded, and the arena returned, the crowd roared. Kaelus nodded. "Resolve proven but you have to prepare for Offering."
----------
The portal opened into a cavern of glowing crystal, its walls pulsed with duty and loss. The air was heavy, pressing against their hearts, testing their bond’s depth. Kaelus’s voice echoed: "Prove your offering and face the Keeper of Duty and claim its shard."
The keeper emerged, a Level 6 spectral beast with eyes of starlight, its form shifted between beast and a tamer, demanding a test of sacrifice. Kelvin faced a vision of Xerion filtering, Lyra saw Salaris weakened, and Darius saw Rhoam’s armor cracked.
Kelvin dove into his soulstream and felt Xerion’s fire. "We give what we must," he growled, offering his fear, his gauntlet blazed as he struck the keeper. Xerion’s flames burned away the vision, and the shard glowed.
Lyra wove shadow runes, her amulet glowed as she offered her doubt, her bond with Salaris steadied her strike. Salaris’s talons dispersed the vision, and the shard pulsed brighter.
Darius offered his recklessness, his soulstone cracked the keeper’s form as Rhoam’s roar anchored him. The vision shattered, and Darius claimed the shard.
The cavern faded, the arena returned. Veyne’s serpent hissed as she said. "Offering is accepted but Harmony awaits."
------
The final portal plunged them into a realm of merged forces were fire, shadow, earth and light swirled in a primal storm.
Kaelus’s voice boomed as she said: "Forge harmony with your bonds and defeat the Sovereign of Duty and claim its essence."
The beast appeared with a Level 8 beast with four forms: a lion of fire, a serpent of shadow, a stag of earth, and a hawk of light. Its presence shook the realm, and the platforms quaked. Kelvin signaled his friends and they split with their beasts ready.
Kelvin and Xerion faced the lion with their flames clashing in a fiery storm. Kelvin’s gauntlet amplified their Convergence and his blade sliced its mane.
Lyra and Salaris tackled the serpent, his shadow runes binded its coils as Salaris’s talons struck its core.
Darius and Rhoam faced the stag, Rhoam’s armor deflected its earth as Darius’s soulstone cracked its antlers.
The hawk dove, but their synergy rune linked their Convergences and countered its light.
The beast true form emerged as a fusion of all four, its essence pulsed. The trio united, their bonds a symphony.
Kelvin’s gauntlet, Lyra’s amulet, and Darius’s soul stones flared and their Convergences merged in a blinding blast that shattered the essence.
Its light flowed into a runic crystal which is claimed by Kelvin.
The realm faded, and the arena roared. Kaelus raised a hand. "You have forged the Ember of Duty. The Inner Sanctum anoints your guardians."
The next day was a marathon of preparation, each moment was a step towards the trio’s next trials.
In the library Kelvin dove into a tome on heritage resonance, its pages was detailed on how to channel a beast’s ancestral instincts into powerful Convergences.
Lyra’s scroll explored the destiny runes, her amulet glowed as she sketched patterns to align Salaris’s shadow which is a bound legacy with their future path.
Darius studied soulstone amplifiers, his relics thrummed as he connected their explosive potential to Rhoam’s ironclad heritage as a Level 4 Armored Pangolith, a beast of ancient fortresses.
Later that evening they headed to Master Sylva’s lecture hall. Sylva’s vine-serpent wove through the vines as she lectured on beast heritage, the art of tapping into a beast’s ancestral instincts to enhance their bond.
"Heritage is the root of your bond," she said with her voice very sharp. "Without it, your Convergence will lack depth."
The lecture ended with a practical: sensing a beast’s ancestral instincts through the soulstream under simulated stress. Kelvin dove into his bond, feeling Xerion’s fire which was ancient, fierce, unyielding.
Lyra’s bond with Salaris was a steady shadow, her heritage flawless. Darius’s connection to Rhoam’s strength wavered briefly, but the panther’s nudge guided him to success and earning a rare nod from Sylva.
---------
After the class the three went to the Obsidian Yard for their training The Obsidian Yard was a storm of motion as the trio resumed their training.
Master Torren oversaw the session, his lion’s mane flared as he barked orders. "Convergence relays! Synchronize your bonds against a horde of constructs!"
The constructs materialized as Level 5 stone wolves, Level 4 flame serpents, and Level 3 shadow ravens, their movements were relentless.
Kelvin, Lyra, and Darius fought as one, their synergy runes amplified their Convergences. Kelvin’s gauntlet blazed, his soullight blade sliced through a wolf as Xerion’s flames cleared the path.
Lyra’s shadow runes bound a serpent, Salaris’s talons stoke its core. Darius’s soulstone detonated, staggering a raven, and Rhoam’s claws tore through its wings.
A wolf’s claw grazed Kelvin’s arm, a sharp jolt, but his bond with Xerion dulled the pain. Lyra’s amulet pulsed and healed a nick on Salaris’s wing,
while Darius took a hit from a serpent’s tail, his breath ragged but his bond with Rhoam was unyielding. Their combined assault reduced the horde to rubble, and Torren’s nod was clear. "Your synergy is tightening so keep refining."
------------
After the training, the midday brought them to Master Caelum’s Runic Workshop, where the forge-like chamber rang with the hum of carving styluses.
Caelum’s stern voice cut through the heat as he guided them through crafting of runes of heritage which is designed to tap into a beast’s ancestral power. "Heritage is your foundation," he said, as his eyes scanned the students. "A flawed rune severs that link."
Kelvin etched a heritage rune into a soulstone, his gauntlet steadied his hand as he channeled Xerion’s draconic fire. The stone glowed, accepting the rune, and he felt a surge of pride as Xerion’s approval rippled through their bond.
Lyra carved a shadow rune with her amulet amplifying her precision, while Darius produced a clean strength rune for Rhoam. Caelum’s grunt of approval was a small victory, their hands ached but their spirits are high.
---------
The afternoon was consumed by Master Veyne’s seminar in her circular lecture hall, its walls were carved with runes that pulsed in time with her serpentine beast’s hisses.
Veyne’s lecture explored destiny resonance, the art of aligning a beast’s future potential with a tamer’s purpose.
"Destiny is the path you carve," she said as her serpent weaved threads of light. "It is the will to shape what’s to come."
