The Red Dragon Just Wants To Do As It Pleases
Chapter 227 - 182: But I Rented That!
Despite David's mocking, the Dean of Dewensen Academy remained composed as he casually walked out from the Gerland Building in the distance, avoiding any unnecessary arguments.
Can you out-talk a Red Dragon whose breath is fire itself?
In other words, by the time the Dean of Dewensen Academy had to personally appear and face his opponent, he had, in a way, already 'lost' half the battle.
Everyone clearly understood that, at this point, David's intended purpose for his visit was largely fulfilled. The incident had escalated to the point of common knowledge, and the academy's influence alone was no longer enough to suppress it.
No one involved could possibly escape accountability. The only question now was whether they could resolve the situation before higher powers from the Royal Capital of Dewensen intervened.
If they could subdue David, this Dragon, before that happened, they would at least retain the right to speak in their own defense and clear themselves of blame.
Elf Queen Arasya had not been in power for long. As long as they could quickly sort out the current troubles, it was unlikely that she would make extensive changes among the academy's senior ranks ahead of schedule.
"What are you hesitating for? Attack!"
As he spoke, a dozen Orteluke's Animated Spheres, each weighing 5,000 pounds and filled with stone and metal ingots, were hurled towards David.
Outiluk Agility Orb
However, David was suspended mid-air. His tail—now enchanted with both Weapon Enlargement Technique and Sharp Fang—sliced through them effortlessly. They crashed to the ground with a deafening THUD, sending up clouds of dust.
Following the Dean's command, the other professors and school masters were just about to unleash their most potent spells when David, who had been hovering mid-air, vanished from his spot with a sinister laugh during his dive.
"Be careful!" warned Euniselen, a professor from the Conjuration School, her pupils suddenly contracting.
The spatial fluctuation was from a spell she excelled at: Advanced Teleportation Spell.
But before she could finish her short warning, a thunderous BOOM erupted from behind them.
David had teleported right in front of the Dean, pinning his head down with a claw. His wings emitted four bright flames. Like a fighter jet making an emergency landing, he dragged the Dean across Dewensen Square in front of everyone's astonished eyes, plowing a narrow ravine. He then crashed through three academic buildings in succession with several loud CRASHES, finally hitting the Gerland Building. The impact created a web of cracks, triggering its defensive mechanism and bringing him to a halt.
In the deep pit that formed in the Gerland Building, David looked surprised at the unharmed figure in his claw; he hadn't actually managed to grasp his target. An invisible force field lay between his claw and the Dean's body, one that not even his supernatural strength could penetrate.
To his knowledge, this was likely a force field spell such as 'Barrier Spell' or 'Protective Energy Field.'
Damn, it's kind of like an AT field. I want it so badly, but it was a pre-prepared trigger spell. So annoying!
Just as Wrathful David was about to really hurt this old chap, he suddenly felt an overwhelmingly powerful force field explode from his claw, knocking him backward. At the same time, everything centered around the old man disintegrated and was pushed away, creating a perfectly round, deep pit.
In that instant, a spell name flashed through David's mind: Shackle Release Spell, a classic from the Ninth Ring of Protection. This spell bursts forth with a force field from the caster, destroying all control, binding, and sealing spells. It also destroys all physically or magically created barriers, cloaking effects, and enchantment or prison effects. All spells maintaining magical effects are dispersed. However, the caster's own protective spells remain unaffected, cannot be penetrated by the force field, and the caster themself is not affected.
Finally, this old guy is showing some decent skills. Isn't this just an alternate world's version of Almighty Push?
And so, all the Elves saw the Red Dragon that had been 'blasted away' by the Dean suddenly burst into loud laughter. Then, he abruptly opened his mouth wide and took a deep breath. "Hmph, heh heh, HA HA HA! But if you have Almighty Push, I have Heaven's Attraction of All Phenomena!"
In an instant, all the rubble and dust that had been pushed away were sucked toward David's mouth. Even the recently freed Dean was no exception. Some students who had managed to flee outside the academy grounds were also uncontrollably lifted into the air.
Authority—Gluttony!
Just as this cataclysmic event began, it abruptly ceased. The Dean, who seemed to have anticipated this, suddenly raised his hand towards the gaping maw of David.
Teleportation Portal
Then, one after the other, they plunged into the Teleportation Gate that had suddenly opened behind them and vanished.
The Dean had initially prepared to use Banishment Spell but, perhaps sensing that such an attempt would likely fail, opted instead to physically expel David through a Teleportation Gate.
However, the disappearance of the Dragon and the Elf did not reassure the onlookers.
They weren't particularly concerned for the Dean's safety.
Quite the contrary, they worried that in his haste for a quick resolution, the Dean might recklessly use some extreme spell and accidentally kill the Red Dragon. That would be a true disaster.
At that point, not a single Elf would be able to escape. They knew that the Dragon's mother, known as the Crimson Calamity, had only ascended to divinity last year with the full support of the Chromatic Dragon Queen.
