CHAPTER 394: CHAPTER 245: BLUE DRAGON HAPPY RUSH_2
SLAP! Tania, her scales bristling, swatted David’s tail away with a look of disgust. "Gross! Come on, spill it! It’s not like I actually want you to take me there."
David immediately flopped over, reverting to his previous lazy demeanor, and candidly disclosed, "Hmm, just went back to Port of Wallens to check on the kids."
"Oh." Tania suddenly lost interest, ready to turn tail and run, but midway, she whirled back. "Whose kids?"
"Mine, duh."
"Oh..." Tania’s brain seemed to be fried, her face blank as she prepared to leave. Then, like a cat summoned by ’Tom’s Call’ in Tom and Jerry, she dashed over at high speed, nearly smashing her face into David’s. "When did you have kids? How come I didn’t know about it?"
"Not just you, even I only found out last month, if you must know," David responded, barely stopping himself from rolling his eyes.
But sometimes, fate just loves playing jokes.
To David, though, it hardly mattered. Ever since he gradually figured out the true use of Arrogance, he began to shape his subconscious. The most crucial aspect was: Whatever happens, it’s to my advantage. In any case, no losses, only gains.
It was the perfect embodiment of the stubborn denial some esports commentators used to display after a blunder.
The intangible benefits, however, were very real: no matter how bizarre and unfavorable the situation he encountered, he always managed to turn danger into safety and seize enough benefits from it. In Blue Star, that’s outright superstition and pseudoscience, but in this magical world, I firmly believe my ’I reckon’ actually works. I’m the child of destiny, indulging in my own caprice, all while fate, like a lovestruck puppy, can’t stop fawning over me!
Arrogance.
So, are you jealous? What? You look down on good luck? You say your innate abilities are stronger than mine? Bring it on!
Meanwhile, Tania simply couldn’t take it anymore and bolted. "Wow! I can’t accept this!"
Just as David was puzzled—What’s there for you not to accept about me having my own kids?—he heard Tania, quickly fading in the distance, wail once more, "I can’t accept that I’m the last one to know! I’m going back to play with the little dragons!!!"
"..." Watching Tania storm off, the focus of many a dragon’s stunned gaze, David thought of his sister’s unreliability and observed a moment of silence for his three daughters who had not yet reached their juvenile stage. But given their physique and abilities, they probably wouldn’t be easily ruined by Tania, I hope.
Arrogance.
Besides, if children weren’t meant to be played with, their birth would be utterly pointless.
Seeing his nap interrupted and no longer sleepy, David decided to leave the nest. He patrolled around Montero mining town for a bit before flying overtly towards the desert in a fixed direction, under the watchful eyes of the Blue Dragons.
In the following months, David and his sister maintained this same travel pattern, rarely seen in their lair, naturally sparking the curiosity of the other Blue Dragons. After all, curiosity is the nature of dragons, especially for sociable Blue Dragons who like to research other dragons’ paths to success to replicate for themselves. Imitating the strong to gain experience is one of the verified paths to success, isn’t it!
But blatantly tailing the leader to snoop around was undoubtedly a suicide mission.
So, one time, when Patricio couldn’t contain his curiosity any longer, he drove his Silver Dragon mining cart in the direction the ’David siblings’ often flew, to see if he could uncover anything. And would you believe it, he struck upon a shattering discovery! What did they find? A Lost Ancient City, reemerging into the daylight!
The two young dragons on the mining cart, one positioned above and the other below, cheered almost simultaneously, springing up and down. "I, Patricio, am going to strike it rich!" one yelled. "And I, Sebriz, am going to strike it rich!" the other chimed in.
They then instinctively stared at each other, wide-eyed.
A dull THUD! The mining cart shattered, and the two dragons kicked each other, sending their opponent flying. In the face of vast potential riches, their long-standing draconic friendship capsized on the spot, and they promptly vanished from each other’s sight. Clearly, both intended to find a better way into the city before the other, hoping to make a fortune. After all, the treasures possibly hidden in such a huge ancient city were so vast that even the Boss couldn’t have carried them all, even if he used Portable Cave to stuff every crevice of his scales.
It wasn’t long after the dragons went their separate ways that Patricio, regrettably, found himself thinking of his Silver Dragon mate’s beauty. Even though she had been so ruthlessly heartless, at least the memory of her embrace during their time together had been warm, making a dragon linger and loath to leave.
But new discoveries soon occupied Patricio’s mind, leaving no room to linger on lost beauty. An unprecedented surge of Mana Energy spread out, making his scales bristle and his blood run cold. Could it be that the defense mechanisms of this ancient city are still operational? This is undoubtedly bad news. Having read enough bardic tales, I know all too well that traps still active in ancient ruins can be deadly. Let’s not even mention those Magic Enigma Locks created with ancient Elf techniques. If a couple of Steel Golems were to spring out in the narrow corridors of the city, it would be quite a predicament for me!
