The Red Dragon Just Wants To Do As It Pleases
Chapter 402 - 248: Unexpected_2
CHAPTER 402: CHAPTER 248: UNEXPECTED_2
Nephew? Initially irked by being abruptly called trash, Attilicia’s mood changed once he realized who was referring to David in such a manner. He recalled a certain Red Dragon David had mentioned when he previously visited the Royal Capital of Lurvorden.
So, this is Pafila’s sister? Crimson Flame Brittany Sed Ponga? Ugh, I’m just trash.
Attilicia suddenly became calm and centered, adopting an air that said, ’If my son has offended in any way, it’s all his fault. Please feel free to discipline him; I, as his father, will not interfere.’
David, on the other hand, grinned broadly, spreading his claws and tail to say, "Yo! My dear little aunt! No need to be so hot-headed. See, I’ve even sent you the well-preserved head of that draconic vassal of yours, packaged up nicely. Considering a Perfect Resurrection Technique wouldn’t be too difficult for you, why bother with all this fighting and killing, right?"
Meanwhile, he was secretly readying that Dragon King’s Decree. If it really came down to it, he’d be forced to play hardball, even though the side effects would definitely be significant.
But Brittany wasn’t swayed by any means. "But I find fighting you quite entertaining," she said, eager for a bout.
"What fun is there in beating up a little guy like me? At least wait until I’m an adult and reach the Legendary realm before you bring it up." David felt somewhat helpless facing such a battle fanatic.
Brittany tilted her head and looked him over, a rare moment of clarity for a Dragon. "No, I need to strike while you’re still underage. I have a strong intuition that, just like your mother, once you reach the Legendary realm, I won’t be a match for you. But it’s different now. As long as I beat you once, no matter if you become a god or rule over Sed Ponga in the future, I can boast to every Dragon that, though I couldn’t beat the Crimson Calamity, her wimpy kid, David Uthos, was but a loser under my claws, right? HA HA HA HA HA!"
David was speechless at this train of thought, even with his typically wild mindset.
He had initially planned to tempt her with the prospect of teaming up to take down the Spirit Suckers for mutual benefit. After all, the Githyanki were offering a substantial and significant bounty for each Spirit Sucker as they pursued this band trying to restore their ’Heart Snatchers.’ This was also why many Celestial Red Dragons were equally keen on hunting Spirit Suckers. However, this obviously deranged Sed Ponga before him was not taking the usual approach.
David had to go along with her obviously flawed line of thinking to come up with a plan. "So you’re really just looking for a fight? Alright then, could you let me take care of some business first? After I’m done, I’ll come back and give you a proper fight and even find you a few opponents that will surely bring you fame and glory. How about... the ’Gloomy Mad Dragon’—Christoph?"
The battle-hungry Brittany predictably took the bait, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Hmm? Didn’t that old chap Christoph get recruited into Barto Hell to become a dragon who married into their service by those Succubi of the Six Prisons?"
Upon hearing this name, Attilicia himself almost lost his composure. But then he remembered all the nicknames he had accumulated while being subdued by another Dragon Queen, and silently thought, ’Dragons shouldn’t make life difficult for other Dragons.’
Seeing she was hooked, David’s tail tip wagged with pleasure. "Then your information is a bit outdated. Ancestor Christoph went back to the Gloomy Region of Elariya decades ago to take revenge on those Drow. And his daughter, Yolanda, gave me this to help me find him."
It was a compass that could track Dragons through shared bloodlines.
Perfect, he was also one of Christoph’s descendants.
"Okay, that sort of old fellow is worth a fight. He’s one. Where is he? I’ll deal with him and then come for you," Brittany readily agreed.
"Then please, hold my claw, milady," David extended one of his claws, offering another to his Silver Dragon father.
"What now?" Brittany was slightly disgruntled but still grabbed on firmly.
"And me?" Having gained some worldliness from following David around in recent years, the Rune Lord Bergin naturally understood that this Red Dragon was about to perform that miraculous ’Earth Escape Technique.’
"Hold onto my thigh," David said with Arrogance.
Bergin felt this was somehow an insult to his stature as a legendary Rune Master.
"Let’s go!" With that, David, holding a Red Dragon, a Silver Dragon, and a Dwarven accessory, quickly ’sank’ into the ground under the incredulous stares of everyone.
*Arrogance*
Interesting, Brittany thought, even though she suddenly could see nothing but darkness. Yet, she could still feel her body completely ignoring the obstructions of the solid ground beneath, swiftly delving deeper underground.
He didn’t know how long this entirely ’free-willed’ journey through the underground lasted. But when David, following the guidance of the "Dragon Blood Gyroscope" for the sixth time, burst out of an Underdark void, the three Dragons and the Dwarf Bergin immediately heard a series of collisions and the sounds of decadent Drow music.
They were astounded to see an old Dragon, Christoph, perched on a stone platform inside a vault festooned with captured Drow. He was being served by two Drow while hosting a party with his own Drow Dragonkin.
Good heavens! David had previously worried this old Dragon would end up a commander without troops. But who knew that after more than thirty years, his Drow Dragonkin contingent had actually grown larger?
And the old Red Dragon, eyes wide with a mixture of astonishment, anger, and disbelief, was caught off guard by David’s group of Dragons. He was sent flying and, in that instant, completely deflated.
He then burst into rage. "David Uthos!!! You better give me a reasonable explanation! You! Why are you here!?"
"Yolanda sent me to save you. Is that explanation reasonable enough?" David replied with the most ’friendly’ explanation he could muster, smiling.
"Do I bloody need a junior like you to rescue me?" Christoph was extremely frustrated. He took a deep breath before asking, "Did the Dragon Queen send you to bring me back to Evil Scale Fortress?"
David immediately threw a dispatch order for Toriel at him. "You could say that, though it was signed by Lord Ephelomon."
Christoph felt desolate. He knew his narrow-minded acts of personal vendetta and neglect of his duties had finally displeased the Dragon Queen. Otherwise, this missive would have at least come from one of her trusted aides, if not the Dragon Queen herself.
"Are you Christoph?" an unpleasantly familiar voice suddenly interjected.
"Who are you?" Christoph looked over with displeasure.
"Brittany. Verlita Brittany Lufdorlogon Sed Ponga."
Brittany’s gaze turned excited yet dangerous. "Your descendant, and also your challenger."
Then, she swiftly clawed at the face of Christoph, who had not yet snapped back to reality.
BOOM! A thunderous explosion.
In this deep subterranean cavern of the Gloomy Region, it was as if an underground volcano had erupted, causing an untold expanse of the area to collapse.
"AH! David Uthos! Quickly pull this mad she-dragon away! I’ll go with you! I’ll do whatever you say! OUCH! My tail! My horns!!!"
Looking at the collapsing Gloomy Region, Attilicia, David’s father, felt they might have stirred up too much trouble. "This... Could this have a negative impact?"
But David was already poring over a map of the Gloomy Region left behind by Christoph in the collapsed cave. "No worries. The way I see it, the escape route Ancestor Christoph took will most likely pass through a major city of Spirit Suckers."
"I was originally considering whether to sneak in disguised, or perhaps to foment some local power dispute, but now both options seem too contrived. Those Spirit Suckers aren’t fools. But ask yourself, what could be a more unexpected way to enter their city than two Red Dragons fighting and causing an accidental calamity? It’s a natural disaster! Those Spirit Suckers will look like they’ve swallowed crap, but they’ll still have to ’receive’ us cautiously. We’ll follow them, and when that group of Spirit Suckers comes out to ’mediate’ the fight, we’ll blend in and search for the brain pool."
"...Can we really get away with that? The plans you great Dragons make are always so... haphazard, aren’t they?" Bergin said. He felt like a fool, thinking they were even more brash than the Dwarves of Eight Peaks Mountain.
Attilicia felt it was more than just haphazard. It was absurdly reckless! This kid was far too skilled at manipulating Dragons; it reminded him of some unpleasant past events. He immediately asked, "What if there’s a deviation in the path?"
"That’s just a matter of giving them a little push," David replied with a demonic flick of his tail.
