The Red Dragon Just Wants To Do As It Pleases
Chapter 409 - 251: Snail Shell Ship
CHAPTER 409: CHAPTER 251: SNAIL SHELL SHIP
As Attilicia had guessed, David’s second Dragon Breath was indeed to provide cover for his old father. After all, his dragon father had only recently been bestowed a title by the Magic Goddess. Except for his proficient Shape Manipulation, he truly had little ability to protect himself before becoming accustomed to casting spells without the Magical Net. David had personally witnessed Attilicia being abducted by one of the legendary Spirit Suckers that had suddenly returned to the main city and taken to the Upper City, which left him speechless. Why are you so easy to abduct? First kidnapped by Mother, then captured by the Drow, and now forcibly taken by a Spirit Sucker! If Attilicia ever confessed he was the reincarnation of Princess Peach from Super Mario, I probably wouldn’t even be that surprised.
To ensure his father’s draconic life safety, and to avoid suddenly gaining a ’Spirit Sucker grand-nephew,’ David had to change his strategy temporarily: this time, the Dragon Breath wasn’t an accident; it was a blatant, deliberate bombardment.
Seeing no reaction after unleashing it, David immediately activated Wrath. Get out here! Then Arrogance surged.
A Dragon Breath Bullet, filled with rage, charged in his lungs. Just as he spat it towards the Meltsteel Fortress, a Teleportation Gate suddenly opened in front of him. This Spirit Sucker Governor had finally been blasted out. Upon emerging, he actually ’picked up’ the frame of the gate and held it before him as a shield. He changed the coordinates of the teleportation space on the fly and hurled the Dragon Breath Bullet—which could have leveled the Elder Brain chamber—to a wasteland several kilometers away.
This incredible mastery of the Teleportation Gate truly stunned David. He could use Teleportation Portal too, but this was the first time in his life he had seen someone manipulate spatial coordinates so skillfully in such a short time. Truly worthy of a legendary Spellcaster, he had to admit. Instinctively, he began to gather power for another Dragon Breath, preparing to fire again to get a clearer look and see if he could secretly learn this spellcasting method.
This brazen attitude, ’not even bothering to pretend anymore,’ immediately ignited the fury on the several tentacled faces opposite him. "Silence! If you continue to set fires indiscriminately on the territory of our Gu Yi Duo Heart Snatcher clan, we will have no choice but to treat the three of you as invaders."
If any surface dwellers were to witness this scene, they would likely find it utterly baffling. David and his companions’ continuous actions had gone far beyond merely taking liberties; they were outright blasting Dragon Breath in their faces. Yet, this group of Spirit Suckers still managed to maintain such remarkable restraint. It was truly a rare sight.
Seeing that the Spirit Sucker Governor was enduring even this, David was about to seize the opportunity to de-escalate and buy Attilicia and the others some time for their actions.
"What did you just say you were? Heart Snatchers?" Who would have thought that these continuous declarations of identity would trigger Brittany’s dissatisfaction? She suddenly stopped pummelling Christoph, the elderly Red Dragon, and asked, turning her grotesque head.
"..." Abaidra’s expression suddenly grew heavy, as if he already sensed the situation had taken the worst possible turn.
Sure enough, Brittany also cracked a slow smile and said, "I imagine you’ve probably guessed our surname by now, correct?"
"Celestial Red Dragon, Sed Ponga?" Abaidra slowly backed away, rejoining the clan members behind him, his gaze fixed intently on the three Red Dragons who had suddenly ceased their infighting.
"Ah, I knew it would come to this," David couldn’t help but chuckle, spreading his claws and muttering to himself.
Then, he heard Brittany’s wildly arrogant and teasing question, "Since you’ve guessed that we are the Sed Pongas, why do you keep repeating in front of us that you are Heart Snatchers? Are you expecting me to turn a blind eye? Do you know how much those Githyanki would pay for one Heart Snatcher head? Hm?"
Tsk tsk tsk. Just for that unashamed display of arrogance, David felt like applauding his little aunt. Indeed, when it came to showing off, one really had to learn from a true Sed Ponga.
However, all pretentious arrogance comes at a price. Such is the way of balance.
"*Zena sasshis* (Attack!)" David’s ear frills twitched as his mind captured a whisper that seemed to emanate from the void.
David’s pupils constricted. He immediately pulled out his Book of the Dragon and opened it, preparing to use it to help analyze the Spirit Suckers’ psionic powers, only to see what looked like an invisible hand begin to write swiftly within it. Just seeing the first line, he almost lost his composure:
Maximized Ninth-Circle Arcane Time St—
With a thrilled heart and trembling claws, he instinctively prepared to look up and initiate his well-practiced art of magical freeloading. Yet, perhaps due to the time stop, the thought had barely formed in his mind when his mind seemed to go blank for an instant. It was as if his vision suddenly skipped a few frames.
Nearly thirty different spells, arcane arts, and even the Spirit Suckers’ own signature psionic powers suddenly appeared on the pages of the Book of the Dragon.
The next moment, when David finally looked up, he saw a dazzling and magnificent storm of spells erupt in full force!
Damn! David realized his attempt had glitched. Because the instant the Spirit Sucker used this spell, he entered a state of ’accelerated time’ unique to him. Unless David possessed a similar ’time stop spell’ to match the opponent’s altered timeframe, it was impossible for him to ’witness’ the entirety of the opponent’s time magic, let alone any subsequent spellcasting.
