The Rising Phoenix
Chapter 802: The Library
CHAPTER 802: CHAPTER 802: THE LIBRARY
From what Wei Shan was saying, it seemed Wei Shan was not just her mother’s acquaintance. It was probably more than that. Well, it was not her place to comment on that.
"Can you come and visit Junjie sometimes?" Wei Shan asked.
"Sure, if I have the time." Bai Xifeng nodded.
"You are similar to your mother." Wei Shan chuckled.
"Really?" Bai Xifeng tilted her head.
"Yeah." Wei Shan smiled while looking at Bai Xifeng.
However, Bai Xifeng knew that he was not looking at her at the moment, but instead at her mother. ’Mother, you seem to have an admirer. I wonder if Father knows about this or not.’ She did not know if her father was a jealous type or not. Well, she would know about that in the future when their family was reunited.
When Bai Xifeng wanted to leave, Wei Shan suggested having dinner together. Bai Xifeng was someone who never refused free dinner. So, she stayed. Xiao Junjie also joined them. They had a pleasant dinner.
After dinner, Bai Xifeng finally left the place. Wei Shan offered her a carriage. He was worried for her safety walking alone on the street, even though Tian City could be considered the safest city. Bai Xifeng shook her head. She told Wei Shan that she wanted to walk because she wanted to see the night view in Tian City. So, Wei Shan suggested Xiao Junjie should accompany Bai Xifeng.
Xiao Junjie listened to his master and agreed to accompany Bai Xifeng. He accepted it because he still wanted to talk to Bai Xifeng about alchemy.
The two teenagers walked through the night market while talking about alchemy. Bai Xifeng stopped at several shops to see what they had been selling. Then, Bai Xifeng found an old book shop at the corner where no one was around. Xiao Junjie was hesitant to enter. The shop looked like it had been abandoned.
"Xifeng, are you sure you want to enter this shop?" Xiao Junjie asked.
"Yes." Bai Xifeng nodded.
Xiao Junjie might not notice it, but as an array master, Bai Xifeng could sense that there was an array surrounding the shop. Why would a book shop need an array unless something was interesting inside? She wanted to enter and see what was interesting inside.
Seeing Bai Xifeng determined to enter the shop, Xiao Junjie also nodded in determination to enter the shop. When they entered the shop, no one was inside. The shop seemed gloomy. Xiao Junjie felt like entering the haunted shop.
Bai Xifeng looked around and saw a switch on the table counter. She walked to the table and clicked on the switch. Suddenly, everything became brighter. The gloomy shop turned into a bright and clean book shop.
Xiao Junjie was startled and looked around. "What happened?"
"I just clicked the switch." Bai Xifeng said.
Then, an old woman came out of the door behind the counter.
"Welcome to Heavenly Book Library." The old woman said.
"Library? Not the book shop?" Bai Xifeng asked in surprise.
"I never knew there was a library here." Xiao Junjie stated.
"That’s because you changed its status by clicking this button." The old woman smiled as she pointed at the button that Bai Xifeng had clicked earlier.
"So, I can read the book for free here?" Bai Xifeng asked.
"Indeed." The old woman nodded.
Bai Xifeng smiled and looked around. The shop, which seemed smaller from the outside, was so big inside. It must be the effect of the array as well.
"Will it be the same the next time I come here?" Bai Xifeng asked again.
"This library also registers you as the visitor. So, you can come anytime you want." The old woman said.
Bai Xifeng smiled wider when she heard the answer. She really wanted to know more about this world. She was getting the knowledge from Baishe and some books inside the Mirror World, but it was not enough. She wanted to learn more. So, when the old woman stated that she could come and read the book for free, she was very delighted.
Meanwhile, Xiao Junjie was staring at the old woman. He could not help to feel something. It seemed like he saw her somewhere else, but he could not remember that very well. At the end, he stopped thinking about that.
"Can I borrow the book for tonight?" Bai Xifeng asked.
"I will explain how this library works. First, you can borrow two books at the same time. The duration is one week. After one week, you need to return the books." The old woman said.
"What if someone doesn’t return the books? What will happen?" Xiao Junjie asked.
"Hmm.... What will happen? Well, you can try it if you want to see." The old woman smiled wider.
Xiao Junjie had a goosebump when he heard the answer and saw the old woman’s smile. He could guess from the old woman’s tone, it would not be a good thing.
"What if I like that book and want to buy it?" Bai Xifeng asked another question.
"You need to pay a high price. And it is not always about money." The old woman said.
So, Bai Xifeng nodded in understanding. So, the book could be exchanged for something else.
"It can also be something that you can not let go." The old woman added.
"I see." Bai Xifeng nodded again.
So, some books could not be bought.
