CHAPTER 845: CHAPTER 845: THE TEST ENDED

When one of them tried to lie down, he suddenly jerked upright with a loud scream.

"Ah!!!" One of the people shouted.

"What? What? What is going on?"

Those who had begun to relax immediately stiffened and grabbed their weapons, ready to fight. The man who screamed pointed upward with a trembling finger. Everyone followed his gaze—and saw a figure lying on a branch above them.

"Who is that?"

"I don’t know."

"Should we call her?"

"She must be the one who lit the fire up."

"It seems she is sleeping."

"She must be like us, fighting with the beasts."

"Yeah. She must be tired. We should not disturb her."

"We are also tired. We need to rest as well."

"Hmm... Let’s take turns guarding the area."

"Good idea. It will be a disaster if the beasts attack while we are sleeping."

So, the group decided not to disturb Bai Xifeng’s sleep. They stayed there resting. Everything seemed to be fine until someone noticed something.

"Everyone..."

"What is it?"

"Do you notice something?"

"Notice what?"

"The beasts have not appeared once since we have been here."

They began to think about that. When someone spoke about that, they also noticed it. Usually, every two hours, the beasts would surround them. The fight would occur. They could not sleep much. They were constantly being attacked by the beasts. But at this moment, even after 3 hours, staying at this same place, no beast was coming and attacking them.

"Maybe this is a safe place?"

"Maybe because the test is almost end, that’s why?"

"Anyway, I don’t want to hunt the beasts anymore. I want to stay here and rest until the test ends."

"Me too. I think I have enough cores."

"Sure."

They continued to stay there for another two hours. They had confirmed that this place was safe. They did not know the reason why this place was safe because of the small creatures beside Bai Xifeng.

Taotie noticed the group. Seeing that the group seemed harmless to Bai Xifeng, he let them stay. One or two of them took turns guarding this place, though. He glanced at Bai Xifeng. This woman really could sleep in this area, defenceless.

Bai Xifeng slept soundly because she believed in Taotie. She knew if she was in danger, Taotie would wake her up.

...

Bai Xifeng woke up. The first thing that she saw was Taotie.

"Good morning, Tao-chan." Bai Xifeng rubbed Taotie’s head.

"I am hungry," Taotie said.

"Hmm... Me too." Bai Xifeng nodded.

Bai Xifeng immediately jumped down. The thud woke the group below. She was surprised to see the group of them. They were also surprised. They stared back, equally startled.

"Sorry that I woke you guys up. I don’t know that you are here." Bai Xifeng apologised.

"It’s fine. You are here first. We came after you." One of them waved his hands.

"We did not mean to disturb you. We just thought this place was safe. No beast comes and attacks us." Another one chimed in.

Bai Xifeng glanced over at Taotie. The beasts probably did not dare to come closer due to Taotie’s aura.

"It’s fine." Bai Xifeng shook her head.

Then, while they were talking, they suddenly heard the announcement stating that the test was finally over.

"The test is over. Get ready to transfer out of this world."

Everyone was happy.

’Tao-chan, are you going to transfer out with me?’ Bai Xifeng asked.

’Of course, we have already formed the contract ritual.’ Taotie said.

’Hmm... You should go and stay inside the contracted beast space for a while." Bai Xifeng suggested.

She seemed not convinced that Taotie would leave this world with her since Taotie was from this world.

’Fine... Fine... Taotie disappeared.

The countdown began. When it hit zero, everyone still alive was transported out. Some were covered in injuries, some looked like they’d been dragged through a battlefield, and some were like Bai Xifeng, stood steady and calm.

Everyone looked at each other. About half of the people who entered the world had already passed away. Meaning they had died in the world. Bai Xifeng looked around, searching for the familiar faces.

When Bai Xifeng’s eyes fell on them, her face instantly showed a relieved expression. Her elixirs were not wasted. Yang Mingyu and Zhu Xiaohui managed to survive after she left.

Then, Bai Xifeng remembered Taotie. ’Tao-chan, are you there?’ She called.

No answer.

Her heart tightened. She called again and again.

’Stop calling me. I am exhausted. I have no energy right now. I want to eat.’ Taotie’s voice came through.

Bai Xifeng was relieved when she heard the voice.

Then, the same man who spoke before they entered the test appeared again in front of everyone.

"Welcome back. Now, you have to submit the cores that you have gathered in the test." The man said.

"Wait a minute. Are you really telling me that my brother died in that world and can not be resurrected?" Someone asked.

"I already told you before the test. Once you died there, you died. You understood that and entered that world." The man said.

"But..." The boy was shaking.

"You have the choice, and you make the choice. The decision was in your hands." The man said.

Ignoring further protest, the man continued, "I will call your names. Step forward and place your cores here."

Something appeared beside the man. It was like a counting machine. The man took out the list.
