CHAPTER 143: CHAPTER 142

Chapter 142

Nesa gritted her teeth from her own pain. She’d never imagined having this kind of situation. The woman was getting stubborn and it would cost their lives.

"Melisca, let’s go!" She held the woman by the waist to pull her up from the ground so they could start moving.

"No!" She was about to push Nesa away, but Carmen got her by the arm.

"Don’t be stupid, Lorwey!" Carmen wanted to smack Melisca’s head by the end of the gun, but that would be more weight for them to carry. Nesa was already staggering on her wounded leg, and she didn’t know if the woman would last longer to carry her own. And they had a semi-unconscious prince to carry also.

"Calicia or Melisca, whatever you are called, if you don’t come to us, your parents would be dead the same as that traitor that you were crying over there." General Giordano announced.

The three women who were struggling to keep each other alive went still for a second. As well as the chaos seemed to pause too.

Then, as if a play button was hit again, everything resumed.

"No! Let go of me!" Melisca was thrashing in their hands. She was kicking and elbowing them to be released from their vise-like grip. Nesa was at her waist while Carmen was at her arm.

Carmen didn’t want to do it, but at the same time, she was really willing to do so. She punched Melisca in the gut. That had the woman gasp and stopped for a minute as she doubled from the pain. Nesa’s eyes bulged in shock, but she recovered quickly and took the moment of Melisca’s weakening limbs to drag her to where the prince was.

"No." There were tears in Melisca’s eyes as she looked past at the committee members and tried to see her parents faces. She raised an arm, wanting to reach for them.

Calicia shook her head to her daughter. There was nothing they could do. She’d willingly die and kill herself than let them have her. She had finally seen her again after almost two decades. She had grown up so beautifully and strong. A fighter. She was proud of it. She’d seen how she fought earlier. And it was enough seeing her for the last time even at a distance. She’d wanted to hold her, but the situation wouldn’t allow it.

Cabril just stared at his precious girl. Tears blurred his eyes. He wanted to protect her instead of being protected. And he’d willingly die again if it was the last thing he had to do for the hunters not to have her.

"Mom! Dad!" Melisca roared. Her eyes were blurred by the tears. They were just up ahead. She could hold them again. She could be with them again. But it seemed like they were worlds apart. The hunters had taken them away from her for the second time in the second chance she got to save them. "Mom... Dad..." She could only call out for them.

Carmen created a vortex, and Nesa got in immediately, pulling Melisca with all her might, and Carmen pushed her inside too.

"NO!" Melisca roared with her arm stretched out as if reaching for them. Then her eyes found the eyes of the general and the committee members in a line beside him. "I would kill you! All of you!" Her eyes glowed yellow for all the rage that she felt, but it was only for a second before a pang of pain erupted in her head. That made her shut up, and her knees buckled, but Nesa was still holding her. She was somehow glad that the woman still had the strength for them.

"Give her to us!" Giordano stepped forward along with the hunters, and they closed in on them. "Your parents would be dead by the end of the day, Calicia!"

It was the last thing Melisca heard as the hollow sucked them in, and everything in front of her was gone. The noise died too, and for a moment, all she could see was total blackness.

Carmen threw the gun away and crouched down. She got the prince’s arm, and she hissed as she touched his skin. His body was burning. She helped him up. They almost toppled over at how heavy he was, but she pushed another power in herself for the strength to support him. And the energy in her was draining too quickly as the vortex blinked to evaporate.

She stepped inside the hollow with the prince slumped beside her. She looked at the scene before her and to the hunters that was pointing at them. Then blackness took over her vision as the vortex teleported them to a cave where someone was waiting. And she knew just how totally screwed she was.

Not more than a minute, Melisca and Nesa stumbled on a ground. The other wolf let go of her waist. Nesa walked over to the nearest wall and let herself fall on the floor, grunting from pain and everything. Sweat trickled down her face as strands of hair had stuck to her sticky skin. She pressed a hand to her wound to stop the blood from gushing out.

Nesa noticed someone in front of them, but she didn’t care anymore. She just wanted to rest from all the actions they did. And the woman was familiar. She looked at Melisca. She knew the hybrid could take care of the woman standing quite a distance before them.

Melisca was still standing in a daze, eyes wide in shock. Her jaw was quivering as her fists were closed tightly in pure rage. She was clouded by different emotions that she hadn’t noticed Carmen and the prince appeared behind her. And someone was approaching them.

Carmen lay the prince down at the other side of the cave. Then as if on cue, she staggered beside him. Nearly laying on top of his body but she maneuvered herself to the side. Her muscles felt like melting and she cough up blood as her chest hurt.

Her vision was turning blurry but she raised her gaze to Zavien. His eyes were closed and his breathing was even. His body wasn’t burning too much anymore. She clutched a hand to her chest. Her own beating organ seemed wanted to burst out from her skin. She breathed through her mouth to continue filling her lungs with oxygen because she was running out of it.

"Where are they?"

Just then Melisca raised her head as a familiar voice asked. It was laced with a hard, expecting tone. Her eyes narrowed into slits as she recognized who was the owner of the voice. It was no other than Tyla.
