The Runaway Huntress
Chapter 147 - 146
CHAPTER 147: CHAPTER 146
Chapter 146
Melisca didn’t know where she was heading. She just wanted to get out of there. Out from anyone. She wanted to get farthest from people. Her head was feeling dazed as she ran out from the cave and went to wherever her foot was leading her to. She was surprised that she still had the energy left to push her feet to move and just noticed that her body healed on its own.
Her feet stopped automatically when she happened to stumble on a small lake in the middle of a forest clearing. There was a huge rock, and she decided to settle and lean her body against it as she sat on the grass.
She looked at the skies. Even the clouds were gloomy, and it looked like it would cry with her as well. She didn’t know how to feel anymore. Every pain was pouring down on her. And she still hadn’t grasped the reality that her parents were still alive. Very much alive.
When she thought they were dead because of her, she mourned them, and now... They were just a goddamn made-up memory. Tyla wouldn’t understand her pain as being the victim of her Talent. He wanted to rage it out. But it was as if she was already drained when she’d just thought about it.
They were still breathing, and she left them in the hands of the freaking monsters. Her breathing hitched as another pang of pain hit her to the core. They also took Loriena from her. They took her life. Her cousin. The only other family who cared for her. Tears started to crawl down her face as she pulled her knees close to her body and covered her face with her palms.
She was hoping that it was just a fake memory as well. That Tyla manipulated her mind again. But no. It was the damn truth. She lost Loriena by the hands of her own blood relations. Her shoulders shook from weeping as her whimpers grew louder. She could care less about anyone or anything around that would find her in such a state.
When she just thought that she’d found her family, she lost the other one as well. She wished she had seen it coming. She wished Lorna hadn’t done it. She never should have done it. How far can they go in hurting anyone just to get her? What was so fucking special about her that they’d even kill their own daughter? That they wanted her more than anything?
"Why?" She asked, voice hoarse from crying. She sniffled. "Why?" She went on in another outcry.
She thought she was strong enough. It turned out that she was weak as before. She couldn’t even get her parents back and hadn’t even been able to protect her cousin. She was a total failure indeed.
Can’t they see how weak I am? Why do they still want me?
Melisca stayed in the lake for long hours. Until the sun was about to set. She had moved on top of a tree and stayed there. She was vulnerable in the moment and felt numb all over. If anyone attacked her, she wasn’t even in the slightest mood to fight. So, she spared herself from that possible occurrence.
The sun was about to be chased away by darkness, and she was just there. Sitting on a tree branch, staring at the horizon. She remembered what she last heard before she was teleported.
They would kill her parents at the end of the day if she wouldn’t come back. Even if they didn’t tell her that, she would definitely come for them. It was finally time for another face-off.

Ezekiel
opened his phone the moment they landed in the airport. He quickly received incessant text messages and missed calls. He read them one by one, and his body grew rigid as he gritted his teeth and hastened their walk out of the airport. He got news that Melisca already started her move in the morning and there were some refugees.
A missing wolf from his pack finally contacted one of his men, who was the said wolf’s brother. Right now, they were staying at one of the rental houses near the forest.
He ordered the driver to take them to the address he’d shown from his phone screen. Gunther and Drasco were following him quietly without any questions about what he was up to.
He called the number that told him when they settled inside the car and started on their way.
"Peyton, let me talk to your sister." He knew he sounded desperate, but he wanted information directly from her.
"Yes, Alpha." The guy from the other end stated. He heard him call his sister. Every beat of his heart was loud enough in his ears. He was anxious, and he couldn’t relax unless he knew his mate was fine.
"Alpha King." The female voice.
"Nesa, the woman who saved you, where is she?" He asked without any further ado.
There was a short pause before she answered. "She’s out there, Alpha King. I don’t know where exactly, but I guess she was taking a break after everything she’d find out."
"Tell me everything. Don’t leave a single detail." He demanded, and he was all ears. Not minding that there were two other people that could hear it without meaning to.
Nesa had to follow the order of his king. And she just felt that he wouldn’t hurt her savior. Melisca saved his people after all and the other supernaturals.
Every revelation shocked him as well. And his heart broke for Melisca. He couldn’t imagine how painful it was for her. Right now, he had to get to where she was. He wanted to be there for her. To embrace and make her feel that she had him. That she had someone she could rely on. That she should rely on for having a mate.
He sucked in a sharp breath as he couldn’t fathom the betrayal she was suffering. And he just completely understood why she had so much hatred for his kind.
Along with that, he just found out as well who killed Cabril. It was Candor. Rullo’s eldest son. Cabril’s brother. Melisca was there. And not to mention how her mom was taken when she was eight. His insides were bleeding for her. He couldn’t say any single word as Nesa continued elaborating on. About how fake when she thought her parents were dead and then she stumbled on them being hostages and threatened their lives if she wouldn’t surrender herself.
He had to get to her before she slipped past of his grasp. He had to stop her from going back because he damn well guessed that she would do so.
